  • .....Now I am not trying to idealize life in Rhodesia back then. As in the US, there was discrimination against blacks who many times earned less than whites for the same type of work. But few people went hungry, the economy was booming despite the civil war and a few years ago, many blacks who remember the old Rhodesia said they preferred Ian Smith as PM to Mugabe. Before anyone disparages Rhodesia, they would do well to learn something about it. They will find it's not what they thought.

  • Rhodesia was a very misunderstood country. Contrary to popular belief, it did NOT have South African-style apartheid. A seat on a bus or airplane was for everyone. So was a park bench. Many of the best restaurants, hotels and pubs were desegregated and it was common to see blacks frequenting them. Almost half the students at its universities were blacks who attended on government scholarships. It had a thriving black middle class. And 23 seats in its parliament were reserved for blacks.....

  • Liberalism is a disease and if we let anymore Non-Christian immigrants in our nation we will be destroyed.

  • I'm thinking mid-1960's, just before UDI...about five years before I was born in that beautiful country, known as "The Breadbasket of Africa"...now just a sad mess, thanks to Britain and the USA, and their mad proxy, Mugabe.

  • At the time of this film, almost paradise, for whites AND blacks. Now look at what has become of it. "Black thugs?" We have a different word here in America for them.......

  • My home ''wonderfull film '' Rhodesia 4 ever

  • It's a nice memory for those who were in power. It looks like there was no apartheid then but black people weren't allowed in certain places. Those small houses you see were built for single men only - no family. While it must be a great memory for "Rhodesians", for me, a true son of the soil, it it a reminder of the justice Mugabe fought for.... Sure he's f....d up the country, but at least today I can walk into a country club without feeling like an unwelcome foreigner in my own land.

  • @VimbaiZ I agree for those who were in power,Rhodesia must have been the greatest place on earth! But after almost 40years of independence most african countries are in a complete mess! With freedom & independence comes repsonsibility & good governance, concepts which I'm afriad Africans dont have! u can argue all u want but that is an undeniable fact!Africans wanted independence but now they no-longer wish to live under black rule,so they flock to europe in herds!why is that the case?ask urself?

  • @polpot28 Well maybe Ya'll shouldn't have colonized us and imposed your way of life on us to begin with, and all this mess wouldn't be around....Just saying.....

  • @polpot28: thing is most the post independence gangsters who ruined these nations went to the same schools that educated the former colonial rulers. Substantially, the change, as far as it even was a change, was b/t bodies not of mentalities. Didn't Britain herself ruin her economy, in the 50s, 60s, & 70s, w/ the same socialist illusions. The only difference being, that the former colonials had less political opposition to resist socialism, & Soviet support to insulate them from their folly.

  • so wat are trin to you saying is that its the whites fault that Rhodesia has turned out like it is today??????????

  • @VimbaiZ True. But now you have 1/3 of Zimbabwe population in the only African state that has whites in it...you could benefit from whites...they will create first world standard from themselves but also help Africans...you didn't want that, I respect your decision...now menage on your own...I wish you good luck.

  • haha, thats what i also wish for to hear wh*** devils wishing to be back in the paradise of africa :D

  • white people enjoyed when when we suffered in our country that why we couldnt live with them because of their cruel and ruthless behaviour...let alone the calls for reconsiliation they ignored, but claiming their rights when chased out the land. they dont want to share with others ...and claim to be citizens haha sounds foolish" selfish". they are haters..............

  • @fidafire Rubbish.

  • Fabulous clear footage of a time and place that is no more ...... this must have been taken in the late 50's or early 60's. Brings back very happy memories.

  • @AlanKoval Yes I would agree.. I was there in Northern Rhodesia on the mines a child in late 50's & early 60's these images are dead on.. and so very nice to see again images of a time and place that came and went in a flicker.. but if you were there the flicker it was brilliant.. and wonderful
