So I just did kind of the towel trick, instead of wrapping it in towels I just blocked the fans from moving, it only took like 10 min to do the double red ring. turned it back on and was working again on the first attempt. My fan was only really loud for about 2 min, after that its back to normal...now to see how long it lasts, and if I can just repeat the method each time it happens.

you're hella lucky because i had my xbox 360 for 3 years and then it had the E74 error message. when i got it, microsoft didnt have it under their warranty, so i had to buy another one. and the a month after i bought another one, they said that the E74 error will be covered. pissed me off and made me hella mad to be supporting microsoft when they do that to me.

Hey Buddy Dont lose hope you can still fix it i fixed mine and dont worry it will work take two toothpicks and put them in the back to stop the fans once you see the 1st and 3rd light go red unplug the power cable in the back of it then plug it back in and turn it on and if it doesnt work keep turning it on and off untill it works trust me i never lost hope when i got it

Yeah they do, its a design flaw. Red ring and such happens from the design of the fans and the area around the 360 in which air can get in. Notice PS3 barely ever has issues thats cuz a lot of air can get into the system. Im all for xbox and would never buy a PS3 im just saying they made a better design than microsoft.

the point of a warranty is that they will fix it for free, if you dont have one, you will have to pay an amount, but ring them up and see what they say.

I got 1 year free warrinty with mine for any type of malfunction, ring of death is civered for three years

if they dont accept your E74, tell them you have ring of death and send it anyway.

choose from a list of options from your phone menu, and simply saw you have E74 error message and 1 red light.

and just follow the steps, they will talk you through it.

I phoned them up they said they will only fix it if it has three red lights :( now ive stripped it to the motherboard and getting the tools to fix the part of that fails..........
