@CalifornianSoul With pedals there's nothing you can't do. In fact, I even find some very good '80-s hard rock sounds from it WITHOUT any pedals, with the little gain boost I have onboard my 80's Charvel... along with the tasty clean- and just-a-bit-overdriven tones with the strat. For funkier stuff it's magnificent, something most reviewers forget. The only thing that bothers me is that the reverb's useful area is only from 0-4 on the 12-number dial. But that I can live with.
Is it possible to play metal through one of these? I mean, with a good setup of pedals and stuff... I want to buy this amp but I have an extense musical taste, I play Strokes and Megadeth, Zeppelin and Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Anthrax for example and I wonder if i could play all this stuff with a Blues Junior.
@CalifornianSoul yes, fender amps take pedals well and this amp will definitely be loud enough. the only thing is you won't even get close without pedals, but it's a good idea to start with this amp for the cleans cos you like zeppelin and rhcp and just buy a good value metal distortion pedal for the other stuff. if you're cranking it with a distortion pedal it will be very loud.
@PF1964 This is a Hor Rod series amp. Pro Junior and Blues Junior have 15 watts, Hot Rod Deluxe have 40 and Hot Rod Deville have 60. Check the Fender website, all is well explained and you can see other models of this sweet series.
I'm doing a show tonight and they have this amp there. So I just wanted to see what I'm facing. This video did a great job of giving me an idea what to expect. Sounds like a sweet amp! :-) I want one now. lol We'll see how it works for me tonight!
I have compared this amp to my VIBE DOLPHIN 20 and… my Vibe is sooo much better!
Vibe Dolphin it has more drive and sustain, is more dynamic, it’s lighter and it has a great reverb and tremolo sounds! Last but not least, Vibe is cheaper!!

I know the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III has more wattage than the Junior but is it usable as far as Rock or Blues? I think it also has an extra gain or drive stage also.
This is an amazing amp and although i like this demo, it just doesnt show the sweet tones you can get out of a blues junior. I recommend to anyone who's trying to hear how it sounds to check out a cover of SRV's "Lenny" by gr8bluesgtr. I also recommend buying one of these babys ASAP! :)
hey i have a quiestion. can a clean, tube amp work for heavy types of metal? like lets say i have some tube clean amp, can i run it with a distortion pedal and make it sound heavy? or will it sound bad if i run the distortion pedal in the clean amp?
@buckethead30001 Of course. Get a good distortion pedal and you can get a nice metal tone. I have a Fender Twin Reverb and I use distortion pedals and I get a great metal tone. Better than my Peavey 5150.
does anyone have this amp that can help me out.. im thinking about buying this amp for home practice, and some recording.. i wanted to know how this amp reacts to effects.. for the most part, i wanted to use this amp with my strat(standard,not american) and i have a DD7delay, a GE7eq, MD2distortion, and a v-wah all by boss, and spencer didn't mention how the amp takes effects. I also really like JFrusciante and Mayer-esque clean tones, so i thought (for practice) this amp was a match. opinions?

Whys everyone criticising this guy? You've got a properly miced up amp demo that goes through most of the sounds on it. The majority of 'demos' here on youtube are shit done with crappy webcam mics so you can't hear how the amp even sounds, this is a real demo. Give the guy a break.
@Yourmomathon Yeah it's definitely more than loud enough for playing with a full band. I know guys who gig with this little amo (with no mics) at small bars. The beauty about tube amps too is that the harder you ride the tubes (i.e. louder you go) then better the tone is.
I don't see why everyone is hating on this guy. While he may not be a SUPREME guitar player, these are still some of the best demos available on YouTube.

@cjmcallister89 I don't like the idea of bashing other musicians, but I have heard a lot of demos by this guy, and he really doesn't seem to get the idea of how to demo a piece of equipment. He turns knobs randomly and makes things sound mediocre. I'm not crazy about the BJ at all, but it sounds way better in real life than in this professional demo, and it's usually the other way around. In every demo he does, he seems to look for the flubby bass sound in everything.

@Yourmomathon Yeah it's definitely more than loud enough for playing with a full band. I know guys who gig with this little amo (with no mics) at small bars. The beauty about tube amps too is that the harder you ride the tubes (i.e. louder you go) then better the tone is.

@cjmcallister89 I don't like the idea of bashing other musicians, but I have heard a lot of demos by this guy, and he really doesn't seem to get the idea of how to demo a piece of equipment. He turns knobs randomly and makes things sound mediocre. I'm not crazy about the BJ at all, but it sounds way better in real life than in this professional demo, and it's usually the other way around. In every demo he does, he seems to look for the flubby bass sound in everything.

I turn off most demos on YT cos its usually some asshole shredding or playing popower chords with massive overdrive (really demonstrates the amp !)
This guy is demonstrating whats on the amp and how the amp sounds. If I am considering buying one, thats what I want. All these people who criticize (intonation for an amp demo for christ sake !), then put up some vids so we can all take the piss out of you.
