My greatest fear with saving a company that has no future based on real demand for it's product is that the power that be will force a demand and that would most likely be in the form of military contracts. To get those contracts would mean initiating a game of war.
It's irresponsible gambling at best and insanity at worst.
If we can own that why not the energy that runs them also....hey, why not everything there is? Just get rid of money and your job will be done...!Then they can't cheat everyone on the face of this wonderful planet.
Sugar is the same everywhere, cars are not. The car-makers greatly wested R&D and brand-vise in expensive to buy and own/use cars that's not already luxury goods, and currently have mostly those models in production or for sale, should go bankrupt or be bought by another one to produce their cars.
The Pattern that put the banking Mafia in Charge: Community Reinf Act, its enhancement in 95 under Clinton; ending the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act; Sarbanes-Oxley Act of July 2002; lifting of leveraging rules; TARP; elimination of the Uptict Rules; FED now rules commodity market = electronic counterfeiting of commodities (ending of 5th Amnd constitution of title):
One of the major problems with our economy is that corporations have been allowed to become too large. Standard Oil and General Motors were both broken up once to ensure real competition. Now we are told that these and other corporations on Wall Street are to big to let go down and we have to bail them out. The model now is for corporations to get big enough and then they can do anything they want knowing that the government will bail them out. Hilaire Belloc's model is a place to start.
Yeah, Geraldine's not like them busty blondes and brunettes on the corporate entertainment news. I think Jim was checking her out when she didn't look his way. The Real News can be real naughty sometimes.
The auto workers put money into retirement accounts for decades - and the boards and executives spent that money. Why are their actions not considered criminal embezzlement? The responsible people, past and present, should be held accountable for criminal activity, stripped of their ill-gotten gains and sent to prison.
Watch "Who Killed the British Motor Industry?" by Jeremy Clarkson. They nationalized British Leyland via Tony Benn as a last ditch effort for Govt support and help keep unionized workers' jobs. Notice the striking similarities between British Leyland (Jag, RR, Mini, Morris, Austin, etc.) and the Big 3. You don't hear anything about British Leyland, do you?

Workers should own their workplace. Transportation = public service.
Moving this sector from private to public could solve many problems, like the state of the planet

Under our current fascist regime, the "people" wouldn't "own" the auto idustry or anything close to it.
The people would not have any "control" whatsoever.
The Nazis might BUY stock in the idustry with TAX PAYER money and then the wealthy would run it the way they please.
If the auto industry started making profits again, the money would simply be used for more corporate welfare, the money going to the rich.....again.

Why do we allow companies that are "too big to fail" if we have to bail them out with huge taxpayer subsidies?
