A proper, responsible marine park should have tanks as large as possible, no performing or tricks, and only handle the animals when absoultely necessary, eg feeding. This Orca has been taught from a very young age to perform and interact with humans, it simply cannot be released into the wild. When a whale kills or injures a trainer, they have two options; either keep it and hope it doesn't do it again or euthanize it. Once they are used to the presence of humans, there is no going back. 12,000 pound animals should not be kept in captivity. I certainly wish they could let him go!

actually the whales pretty much enjoy doin the tricks; it's fun for them. I work around orcas and on days when the trainers are in meetings all morning I've walked by carrying boxes and they will swim over and follow with one of their toys wanting to play.

This Orca has been taught from a very young age to perform and interact with humans, it simply cannot be released into the wild. When a whale kills or injures a trainer, they have two options; either keep it and hope it doesn't do it again or euthanize it. Once they are used to the presence of humans, there is no going back. 12,000 pound animals should not be kept in captivity. I certainly wish they could let him go!
