WORSE ECONOMY SEATS EVER. If you are over 5'5", do not fly with Cathay. Their seats are not fit for people. Lack of lower back support will send you to the chiropractors for months. I flew with Cathay to HK from Toronto a few weeks ago and the shell seats almost broke me physically and mentally. The seats do not recline and instead it slides you down, crushing your knee caps. Will not consider cathay again until they change their seats back.

The cabin crew is always smiling, available for help, and (at least on my flights) multi-lingual (apart from English and Chinese, they spoke French, and German!!! :D ). I though it was really cool, and I felt proud to be on Cathay Pacific ;)

Cathay Pacific is much better than American Airlines. I really appreciate the hospitality of its staff. The plane's seats are very comfortable, especially in the business class. I never became comfortable with American Airlines. Although prices are a bit higher, I would rather pick Cathay Pacific over American Airlines any time.
@olre1 lol i dont know how to explain it, but it reclines within its own seat so you can't lie down, the way the seat is is how far it goes..honestly it was a pain sleeping in the seats, i slept with my head on the tray.

@tealmarlin I know what you mean. I flew from Singapore back to San Francisco on economy class with a stopover at Hong Kong. Everything about the airline is great, the food, the service etc. But the 'new economy class' seats were not very comfortable. The innovative design that prevents other from taking your space hurts your back. You've got to press a button and you literally slide downwards. Trying to sleep on this on a 17+ hour flight isn't very helpful.
@Thresher36 I forgot to say that it was a connecting flight from cebu (the phillippines) to hongkong. At first I thought oh, this seems cool....then I tried to sleep, and thats when the problem started, it makes all other airline seats seem and feel like first class. My last trip to the phillippines (korean air) I had a very nice sleep. But these seats are impossible. The seat becomes Hard, no padding....and the little padded wings on the side to rest your head, well those are a joke.
I wish Cathay could be the Flag carrier for Australia. Qantas isn't very good, when compared to Cathay Pacific. They should update this video. With the new business class!

@xslucifer 1. no, you do not have to pay for movie/tv show, there are a lot of new movies :) i saw - Letters from Iwo Jima, War of the Worlds, Black hawk down there. But those were clasics. You will find a lot more of newest movies there. Hope you will sit next to some hot girl/boy :)
2. Yes, they provide headphones which are not best quality, i recommend you buy at some local electronic shop a reduction from their 2pin jacks to standard 1 pin 3,5mm jack. google this: Airline Headphone Adapter

Cathay Pacific is a class act all the way. American-based airlines would do well to learn from Cathay's example. I find the cabin staff to be polite and attentive. The aging plowhorses they often employ in America are lazy and rude.

I am flying to qingdao in october and was impressed when I went online to see the virtual reality walk through all the seats , from first class to economy . I would never in a life time travel first class, yet the virtual reality made me able to walk through it and see what its like. And wow im impressed. Thank you Cathay PACIFIC . Cathay Pacific is by far my favourite airline. I normally feel uncomfortable on airplanes, but with Cathay, even the departures and landings are enjoyable! Their flight is always a smooth one. Everything is so nice - business class is amazing! The flight attendents are really pretty and nice too!

Cathay Pacific is the best airlines. I find their service great. Their crew is just amazing and very hospitable. The facilities are always neat and tidy. Not to mention, their built-in tv's are always functioning. American Airlines can't somehow meet these standards. The crew is just okay, the seats aren't that clean, not all tv's work (even if they have touch screens). I can sleep better in Cathay Pacific... I wish this was my long flight and not the other one.
I flew only 2 times with Cathay from hong kong to Los Angeles and i was amazed of how comfortable was the economy class seats and the service was amazing.
The treatment was realy great and the food was indeed good.
Hope to fly with them again next time ill go to hong kong.

Not sure about Toys for kids but majority of the time there are free stuffs for children, the food on the airline i always say depends on your departure airport and their kitchen chefs? But overall the service on CX is excellent
i wasnt impressed with the service of cathay pacific . the flight attendants didnt speak much english . im just being honest. dragon airlines on the other hand were excellent amazing service. im a flight attendant myself. the plane i was on was very old . we wer eleft with our finished trays sitting in front of us for four hours. i found that shocking .

Economicly because Air Canada is a 3 star airline at the Skytrax and Cathay Pacific is 5 star airline. Plus Air Canada flyes to Hong-Kong from Vancouver and Toronto and Cathay Pacific serve Vancouver and Toronto nonstop. Also entertainement on board of Cathay Pacific is a 4th best in the world but Air Canada's entertainement system is not among the 5 five best on earth. Also If Air Canada will charge for the headsets on all flights, Air Canada could have a trouble to compete with Cathay Pacific.

cx service is great...but they didnt upgrade their economy class, just like the in the video, i fly so many times with them, specially, in the gulf region...

I hope Cathay don't buy the A380, because Airbus suck at everything but size. I bet while there designing there aircrafts, they only think about the size, not the speed, not the sound the engine makes, not even comfort.

I am flying to qingdao in october and was impressed when I went online to see the virtual reality walk through all the seats , from first class to economy . I would never in a life time travel first class, yet the virtual reality made me able to walk through it and see what its like. And wow im impressed. Thank you Cathay PACIFIC . And thank you for your Project Orbis you have.

Also they say that if you tall and you fly Economy you recline your into the seat in front of you. Is this true?

Cathay Pacific is by far my favourite airline. I normally feel uncomfortable on airplanes, but with Cathay, even the departures and landings are enjoyable! Their flight is always a smooth one. Everything is so nice - business class is amazing! The flight attendents are really pretty and nice too!

Cathay Pacific is the best airlines. I find their service great. Their crew is just amazing and very hospitable. The facilities are always neat and tidy. Not to mention, their built-in tv's are always functioning. American Airlines can't somehow meet these standards. The crew is just okay, the seats aren't that clean, not all tv's work (even if they have touch screens). I can sleep better in Cathay Pacific... I wish this was my long flight and not the other one.

I flew only 2 times with Cathay from hong kong to Los Angeles and i was amazed of how comfortable was the economy class seats and the service was amazing.
The treatment was realy great and the food was indeed good.
Hope to fly with them again next time ill go to hong kong.

i love there aircraft cause few of the aircrafts anoys my ear some times when i ride philllipine airline A320 my ear sounds painful and sometimes i cannot hear other voises. ye but i caan hear but only look like there whispering

Not sure about Toys for kids but majority of the time there are free stuffs for children, the food on the airline i always say depends on your departure airport and their kitchen chefs? But overall the service on CX is excellent

i wasnt impressed with the service of cathay pacific . the flight attendants didnt speak much english . im just being honest. dragon airlines on the other hand were excellent amazing service. im a flight attendant myself. the plane i was on was very old . we wer eleft with our finished trays sitting in front of us for four hours. i found that shocking .

I flew malaysia airlines 8 years ago from Vancouver B.C to Perth Australia, i thought the service was great, and it overall was fairly enjoyable, but i am going to be flying to perth again this time CP, i've heard good things :)

Totally CP is still ok, i fly CP all the time anyway. But I have some dissatisfactions:
1- the new economy seat convertion for long haul flt is very uinforgiving to my back.
2-F/A are always antsy all the time, always in a hurry forgetting to listen to passenger's needs. Task oriented, not people oriented.
I hope CP improves on these areas.
Again I still fly CP...

Economicly because Air Canada is a 3 star airline at the Skytrax and Cathay Pacific is 5 star airline. Plus Air Canada flyes to Hong-Kong from Vancouver and Toronto and Cathay Pacific serve Vancouver and Toronto nonstop. Also entertainement on board of Cathay Pacific is a 4th best in the world but Air Canada's entertainement system is not among the 5 five best on earth. Also If Air Canada will charge for the headsets on all flights, Air Canada could have a trouble to compete with Cathay Pacific.

@companyys Do flight attendants in Air Canada still have that horrible attitude? I usually avoid AC at all times, but I've been on AC about 9 years ago. Has it changed much in terms of service and general quality of the flight?
