  • Excellent

  • hey mate thanks for the fix video, our fridge just started making a fan noise and i can see ice in the bottom left hole that has the screw in it,going to fix it tomorrow, but in saying that why should we have to fix a problem like that when its a design fault

  • Thanks again to everyone who has posted a comment, great to hear people are having success and saving their fridges.

  • @AndyCunningham75 Thnx so much Andy, saved me a bundle with a great video that explained everything. Worked exactly as u found, even down to the fan kicking in after 5 minutes!

  • Hi KAHOTEA, yes, mine was making a noise for a while which I assume was the fan grinding against the ice as it built up. As the ice continued to build up the fan stopped turning so the noise stopped after a while - not being very clever I thought the fridge had healed itself at this point but, clearly, it hadn't. Ha. Good luck.

  • Hi zerodeltaapp, I tried Samsung fridge freezer cooling motor which is what I used before but doesn't seem to bring up the motor I ordered. Will try some other combinations and let you know if I'm successful. Cheers

  • Hi andy, was your fridge making a noise? I think mine needs it done to

  • Hey Andi, can I please what you would type into Ebay to get the replacement motors? Thanks

  • i called samsung in america, and they are aware of it, but will not fix it for free unless you are in your warranty period. so it looks like i will be trying this technique this week.

re: the person who unplugged their fridge... we got this problem after losing power for 5 days during the halloween snowstorm. it would be funny if doing the same thing again fixed it.

  • @kingofflosses one more reason living in the usa sucks. warranty period is only 1 year unless you pay for extended warranty.

  • Thanks Andy for the video. Its seems like it's worked for me too. Hopefully it's saved me spending money on a repair or even a new fridge !! Cheers

  • Thanks so much ! It took me a bit longer since my freezer had quit working a well. Now all is back to normal. Praise the Lord, and thank you very much!

  • thanks very much for this just spent few hours doing and if by magic all working like new always happens over xmas but you safed me cheers

  • Unfortunately it happened again to my fridge so I called 0800 988 0123 as another user has posted and samsung came out and repaired it for free.

The guy said it's a common fault.

Thanks again for the great video.

  • I mean I'm so glad not soon glad!!

  • Thanks to everyone for the great comments, soon glad the vid is saving people money. My fridge is still working like new since my 'repair'. Thanks to all.

  • @AndyCunningham75 Thanks Andy just fixed my Samsung Fridge freezer slightly different model but same problem

  • Brilliant - had the exact same problem thanks a lot from Joburg South Africa.

  • Was so close to agreeing to pay Domestic & General £180 to come sort this out. Thank you so much for posting this video. Worked a treat

  • Thank you for the help (video) AndyCunningham75 ...I just fixed mom's frig after watching ur video...thank you

  • Straight away...Tip of the "Ice Berg" Mate you have an issue with your defrost mechanisms. ApplianceWorks at yahoo

  • Just a tip but the main problem i had was the ice had formed around the copper refridgeration tubes so if you try to pull the refridgeration unit would pull too - and you DONT want that. the motor will not come free untill these are free. You may not fully see them, be careful - ensure fully defrosted and it will just come away easily if it doesnt - then there's still ice!!

  • brill video - worked for me - took about 1.5 hrs all in but seems ok now!! gonna ring that UK helpline no though to try get problem fixed for free so it doesn't happen again - mine is only 4 yrs old.. Thanks Andy !!

  • Thanks a lot for your vid Andy - helped a lot. Just a quick helping point to anyone else with this problem - If you can arrange to empty your unit (giving stuff to neighbours or family to store for you), You can unplug the unit overnight, leave towels on the floor and inside the unit and all the ice will melt - I put boiling water in two bowls inside the fridge part, twice before going to bed - no hair dryer needed!

  • WOW THANK YOU i did as you said and found solid ice around fan used hair dryer to melt it all and now as far as i know fridge is all fine now ;)

  • Andy, you legend, got it sorted with your help, cheers!

  • Hi maschinsky, any joy?

  • Thanks for the video. Just sitting infront of my fridge with a hairdryer.

  • Thanks captainwang. Might give that a go now I can get the back off easily. Cheers.

  • Andy just thought i would add my comments, i've had exactly the same problem and done exactly the same as you however have you thought what was making it freeze up in the first place? well it's due to a small outlet hole near the fan which needs to be made bigger, it's quite simple as it's the Polystyrene material this allows water to flow away better. Hope this helps!

  • What are we now, 4 months on from the great fridge repair and we are still functioning perfectly. Icy cold freezer and three degrees on the fridge, stable for four months now. Thanks to all for the views and the comments, so glad it's helpful. Cheers, Andy.

  • good video

  • Thanks so much this video really helped and you've probably saved me a small fortune.

  • Thanks Andy, appreciate the guide, very helpful.

  • To the rest of the world, I don't love myself, my wife added the comment below! Ha.

  • Markus, that's great news. 'No frost system!' hmmmm!! I think Samsung have some work to do. Greetings to you from Derby, England. Andy.

  • Hi Andy

Not only have you saved my fridge, but I think I'm in love with you

  • Thanks Andy,

with the help of your video instruction I brought back my Samsung RSH1FTPE with integrated No-NoFrost-System back to life.

    Greeting from Berlin, Germany

    Markus

  • 131313JT13 by manual defrosting do you mean leaving the fridge switched off? If so, I think it would take several days for enough of the ice to melt by natural causes. The ice was so dense and even when the panel came away I had to chip away at it around the actual fan which was completely encased in ice in it's housing. Hope you've had some success since your post. No double sided tape or anything like that but remember the clip that needs disconnecting.

  • The foamy material is fitted inside the panel that comes away when the ice around the fan has been melted. The plastic panel and the foam are part of the same unit and shouldn't be seperated.

  • Great to hear all the successes. MissHanzee, looks like you have hit the jackpot with that discovery. Pretty sure I've had it less than five years so think I will give that number a call. Brilliant, thank you.

  • hi Andy , I went thru exactly the same as you, but after alot of searchin on net i have found a long term solution. if you have had your freezer for less than 5yrs ring 0800 988 0123 (uk). tell them you have the common manufacturing fault. they send an engineer to replace it with a modified back panel which stops the fridge icing up again. this is all FREE. seems the original fridges have the defrost sensor in the totally wrong part of panel .

  • hi, after manual defosting for 2 days, the evaporator cover is still stuck. are there double sided tapes holding it in place? thanks

  • Hi Andy

Thought i would let you know that my fridge freezer is now up and working perfectly. No noise, my fridge is cold and my water dispenser now dispenses cold water. Thanks loads for this video

  • Thanks Andy,

Just done the same after our fridge started making noises.

The ice at the left was already inside the fridge. DIdn't take long to sort

Not sure what causes this - cooling element was largely uniced - so the defrost element is probably working. Ice was very thick around the top pipe - perhap not heated in the defrost cycle. It looks like a basic design issue, rather than a failure - we'll see. You could argue this is no different to defrosting your fridge like in the old days.

  • Have just followed your instructions, and it was easy with your help about screw positions and unplugging fan. Going to work now while my dad defrosts the SOLID ICE. Will let you know later if it worked.

  • hi your video was ssoo helpfull it just coast me 65$ and my refrigetor working good thank you..

  • Hi, when I tried removing the case on my fridge there seemed to be some electrical and some foamy material connected to the inner case and it wouldn't fully remove. Is that normal? Or those those parts be connected to t he fridge itself? thanks!

  • Mrsdodds how did you get on? Hope the dustbin is still with us!!

  • Im off to give this a go, fingers crossed it will work! if not I'l b in the garden kicking sh*te outa the dustbin! thanks :)

  • Thanks Andy, you saved me a lot of money and worry with this video.

  • I must confess I actually built on your experience and set up an electric fan heater in front of the fridge and went and watched telly for an hour rather than standing there with a hairdrier, after that the cover came off, chocked with ice, another hour and a half and it was ready to reassemble. As you said there was a delay with the fan coming back on and it's now working perfectly.

    Thank you again.

  • Thankyou for saving me lots of cash and keeping me in good books with the wife.

Your instructions were first class, I would never have known about removing those 'clip on' covers that covered the other holding screws and your 'not forcing it' tip was great.

  • No problem mlz1974, mine is still going strong and working perfectly. Can't believe it. Must go down as the DIY achievement of my life! Ha.

  • your video was a fantastic help and has redeemed our fridge, long may it continue - thanks for taking the time to share :)

  • Great to hear people are still having success bringing their fridge back to life. Feel free to add any tips to the comments list.

  • Hi leenewham, I thought there were some lugs in there somewhere but it was just ice keeping it fixed in, you have to keep on with the defrosting for about 30 minutes you're convinced it should pull forwards. The polystyrene comes with the plastic panel and from my experience it's the ice around the cooling fan that's stopping it from coming forwards. If you shoot hot air up from the bottom, you may find that a trickle of meltwater still runs in to the bottom of the fridge from around the froze

  • AWESOME..... Thanks for sharing just done mine its working a treat..... I only did it coz I saw you post!!

  • Hi Andy, I seem to have got rid of all of the ice but the panel wont come out of the left. Is it just the plastic that comes of or does the polestirine come off also? Did you have to pull hard or did it come off easily? It looks like there are two plastic lugs that go into the polestirine, one just top right of the rectangular hole and one just below. THese appear to be stuck. Any help would be very welcome! Thanks, Lee

  • Hi I successfully fixed my fridge on Monday following your instructions, thank you so much. My Husband was very pleased with me!

  • my mum followed your instructions we now have a shilled water and a working fridge again. If my Dad would have been here he would have a made a mountain out of it. Thank you :)

  • Great to hear all your success stories. Just to let you know, getting on for two months now since I sorted my fridge and it's still working perfectly.

  • THANKS I WAS READY TO PUT MY FRIDGE FREEZER ON THE SCRAPHEAP BUT THIS WORKED & THE FRIDGE IS NOW FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

  • Thanks Andy. I had the same problem with my fridge. Was fustrated when i coundnt get the back panel off. I was ready for using brute force when i came across your vid. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. My fridge is working again now,

One thing further to mention for people:

A problem i had was the ice had formed around the copper refridgeration tubes at the upper left hand side, the motor will not come free untill these are free. You may not fully see them, be careful

  • Many thanks for your comments Pat. So pleased you managed to breathe life back in to your fridge. Ours is still working brilliantly after many weeks now. Whatever you owe me, stick it in your fridge, wait until it's cold and enjoy drinking it yourselves. Cheers!

  • Fantastic thanks Andy just instructed my husband to do exactly what you said you had done. our fridge was doing same as yours

Brilliant it's sorted thanks for taking the time out to do this video I owe you one x

    Pat from Nottingham

  • Hiya was trying to take of the panel and thought would research first , the panel was held on with ice. After using the hair drier from the top was able to remove the panel and the two fist full of ice that had built up. Thanks for the pointers. Fridge back together and now have keeping fingers crossed :)

  • Fantastic, you saved me a lot of money there. Best wishes

  • e se fosses levar no REAL CAGUEIRO???? Tanta conversa só para dizer onde estão os parafusos....

  • Great to hear a success story from edob73. Strangely satisfying, bringing a fridge back to life. Nice one edob73.

  • Extremely useful. After being directed to your video, I simply followed your instructions and the Fridge has come back to life!!. Thanks a lot

  • Please help me become a Fridge Magnate by getting me past 500 views. PS Fridge still beautifully cold. Hope Gilbertlovesu had success with the hair dryer.

  • FRIDGE UPDATE: several days on from my defrosting repair and well chuffed as the fridge is still nice and cool. Yippeee!

  • Glad people are finding the vid useful, many thanks for your comments. The longest part of the job is defrosting and I find it easy to be impatient but tried hard not to force the panel until all had been defrosted. Good luck everyone.

  • I am going to give this a try tomorrow. Seems logical but of course timely. BUT better than paying outrageous tech repair prices.

  • Amazed when I stumbled across this. Very helpful. Thank you!

  • You are amazing! thank you soo much!
