I want to get this game for my PS3. There have been lot of updates, do anyone knows if I should update it first or start playing and update it later when bugs start showing? Please let me know.

@Buddlebot I ran into a bug or glitch where the cave in the quest: Under Sarrathal, where most of the cave flickered an ugly light brown or blue. Is that permanent? has that happened before? How do I fix it? please.

Clear up HDD space and it will run flawlessly. I had 120gb free out of 320gb after d/l demo's and movies and Skyrim came to a crawl. After deleting old demos and movies i had 150gb out of 320gb and it runs like it did on day one.
Save file size has nothing to do with it. If you don't believe me go d/l a bunch of demo's and movies and Skyrim will play like shit, the fix is easy though.

@natoli22 Reason for that is the downscaled textures on the Xbox 360 version the ps3's textures are a lot higher res, and in that case more RAM is taken up the RAM can overflow sometimes which is the cause for lag. It's the developers fault for not coding the game correctly for the ps3

@teamsousa4him From what i have played on my mates 360 console, they do not really suffer from that much lag, though textures are a bit wacked and has a few quest glitches. He is sitting at 132 hours @ approx 15 MB - So yeah, i do not think 360 suffer from the lag issue PS3 version have, which is unfortunate.
The only thing that Bethseda needs to focus on in this upcoming patch it the lag issue. Most of the little issues have been remedied. Think about it..............if there is going to be another patch for this great game, what else could they possibly address more than this lag issue?

@Deadhardworker Good thing is that patch 1.4 is being tested at current moment, and is being submitted to PSN and XBL beginning of next week, so we should have patch 1.4 with in 2 weeks tops... It is cause of the Autosave feature in the intro, it seems to freeze it up sometimes. Hope you got it all working now.
I have a new 320gb ps3 slim that I bought about 2-3 months ago. I haven't got many games saved on there (NSF hot pursuit, final fantasy 13, assassins creed revelations), do you think I will get the lag problem? I hope not.

Why don't u guys download 2.01 it does fix lag but if you are havin problems you MUST delete and reinstall the game data AFTER downloading the patch. It works for me

The way I fixed it is by giving up my old files and starting a new game. Deleted the update file and won't let it install again. I haven't had any lags ever since I deleted the update file.
if you have a xbox360 buy it on that console cause it never have lag problem's.. if you don't just don't buy skyrim its a wast of money on ps3.. if you really want to buy sktrim go a head.
the FAT ps3 has less problems than the new slim version, other fixes apart from the notifications, are u must reinstall the game data after the patch, and turn off trophies and online connections while playing. this will greatly reduce any problems.
@leusdapogi01 probably none of the two, its not the cd but its the game it selfe. i got a 250gb slim and no other game i have lags like skyrim. bethesta or whatever just didnt take their time to test the game propertly.
To fix skyrim lag on ps3. Exit to main menu. Remove the disc. Turn off the console. Walk outside. Throw disc skywards. Get in your car and go to local shops. Purchase an xbox console and start enjoying gaming again.

Skyrim pretty much fucked up my PS3 for every other game, though. After playing it, now there's a lag in audio and small freezes for AC: Revelations and Arkham City (those I've installed after Skyrim so far). And those I installed before run slower and have performing issues.

the FAT ps3 has less problems than the new slim version, other fixes apart from the notifications, are u must reinstall the game data after the patch, and turn off trophies and online connections while playing. this will greatly reduce any problems.

@leusdapogi01 probably none of the two, its not the cd but its the game it selfe. i got a 250gb slim and no other game i have lags like skyrim. bethesta or whatever just didnt take their time to test the game propertly.

To fix skyrim lag on ps3. Exit to main menu. Remove the disc. Turn off the console. Walk outside. Throw disc skywards. Get in your car and go to local shops. Purchase an xbox console and start enjoying gaming again.

I know its a little early but i'm trying to prevent the lag issues as much as possible, im at around a couple of hours and only about 3600-3800 kb of data, I've turned of auto save, i've deleted data from most games i don't play (Maybe about 2-3 games data i kept), and i'm deleting every past save when I do save, now im going to turn off notifications. Please as many people respond to this. Do you think that I will experience lag?

Skyrim pretty much fucked up my PS3 for every other game, though. After playing it, now there's a lag in audio and small freezes for AC: Revelations and Arkham City (those I've installed after Skyrim so far). And those I installed before run slower and have performing issues.

@NateOFosho Lol no your in the wrong section its in GAME DATA UTILITY, then you look for skyrim Game data delete it, start up skyrim, and let it reinstall
