  • Sorry i love the trilogy but this is ..something,, horrible ...english...

  • I am Hungarian and I love Sissi!!! But the English voices are just terrible!!! I can't decide whether Franz's or Sissi's voice is worse....

  • @csokijegkrem Hi to beautiful Hungary! :-) I also wonder why didn't the real voices? I have seen english movies with her speaking in english (undubbed). Franz's voice here seems a bit rough, it sounds softer in original and also her dubbing voice doesn't quite fit in there. I hope the hungarian dubbing voices are better! :-) But anyway it is better than nothing, gives also english speaking people the chance to learn about the austrian / hungarian history. :-)

  • It ruins the originality and magic in this!

  • they've cut bits and pieces out in the english verison

  • sissy was never meant to be an empress, she is too young and inexperience i so dont envy her at all.

  • I have gotten used to the english version, but I have to say that the voice over dubbs are very well picked, the Emperor sounds just like I imagined him if he would be speaking english, and Sissi's voice dubb sounds like Gracy Kelly.

  • I like the german version better...the one I watched has english subtitles....it was great.

  • can you upload the full video of Sissi? pls?

    i really like this movie..

  • @bhabyjen25 yes I would like that too (although I am german). Does anyone know the three english titles of the movies? Sissi forever my love is different from the three titles they state on wikipedia. Just wondering...

  • I love Karlheinz Böhms true voice. And, of course, the accent! the staff from Sissi has to have this Austrian accent!

  • That is strange since the "REAL" Sisi knew English well. She claimed to known it from her English grooms in the stables. She used English as a secret language with her sister Nene.

  • One of the most beautiful actresses and the most beautiful empress called Elizabeth in history:)

  • ok honestly the english voices are horrible! not just the accent ^^ sounds so awful!

  • does anyone have the "sissi" compilation with the 3 sissi movies and the one about queen victoria in english?

  • @Russqua .... Yes, I just received the 5 disk set last week that I purchased off eBay. It has 5 movies on it: The 3 German language "Sissi" movies (with English subtitles); the movie called "Vickie", and the compilation movie of the 3 Sissi movies, dubbed in English, called "Forever My Love." I remember watching "Forever My Love" on TV as a child and never forgot it. I was thrilled to find it in DVD format, and to see the original 3 Sissi movies. They are truly masterpieces.

  • wow so cool to hear it in English. I grew up watching this trilogy and i love these films, there so dear to my heart. Of course any movie sounds best in its original language, but this is good for those who don't understand German.

  • Does anyone know where to see the whole thing free on line or free download? DL

  • :D I really did not know there was an english version:D

I mean, cute movies, though unrealistic..i mean: everyone lives the new "avatar"..is that what you call realistic? nobody needs reality in movies!

  • is there any dancing in this film?

  • @POLMAZURKA of course! not too much, but there are balls

  • wooow, the way he says her name..."sisi" it's soooo wrong

  • This is funny. Franzl speaking english... :-)

  • is this from the beginning?

  • no...

  • "Please convay to the Hungarian nation my sincere gratitude and my hearty greetings.

I'm looking forward to a journey through your beautiful country." (Sissi) :)

  • I dont like it in english, the magic of Romy was her beautiful soft voice! Who dubbed this? It's funny to watch, but it's not her original voice, she should have dubbed it into english herself, like she dubbed all her french movies into german. She spoke perfect english e.g. "Good Neigbor Sam" with Jack Lemmon

  • well i don`t like it!Franz`s voice is very bad....Andrassy doesn`t speak with a hungarian accent at all....i do like it in german but also i think the hungarian is brilliant too.-of course the original(german) is the best.-Romy is so sweet when she speaks hungarian:)

  • gyerekek ez nagyon szar!!

    It suxxxx

  • I watched the German one and this one, personally I think the German is way better. Franz Joseph's voice is a very harsh and very British......

  • So crazy to watch it in English! But the voices are okay, although Romy's real voice is more beautiful!

  • so strange to watch it in english.... I've seen the movie minimum a hundred times but always in german.... totally kitschig but I love it (in german) hihi

  • Could u plzz upload the tv show Princess Sissi? it was one of the best cartoons that I ever watched :)

  • Sorry Misty but I don´t have the cartoon series of Sissi.

  • you can watch the tv show on youtube, but it's in dutch though. i really want to see the english version of the tv show :)

  • This sounds as if the main actors did their own voice acting in the dub. Is this the case, or am I just hearing wrong?

  • I like the german version better xD

Da klingen beide besser und es passt auch besser zum film. aber ich finds gut, dass auch mal ein deutscher film auf englisch uebersetzt wurde xD

  • can u upload the movie for us

  • Please put more parts of the movie!!!I am from Poland and when I was a little girl I watched this movie 20 times a day(thats what my mum said:)and i still love it, but cant find it anywhere.Well just in German, which i can't speak. So please please put the rest of the movie!!Thank you a lot!

  • german is much better

  • yes it's really strange listening to sissi in english. the dubbing is terrible. romy schneider's real voice is much cuter!

  • I think it is funny that it is a German video being dubbed for once. Usually it is the other way around. I think Sissi's voice is okay. Of course you never get perfection.

  • Sisi's voice sounds too young

  • Isn't that how it suppose to sound like in German also?

  • The voices are ok for me. Latinamerican speakers such as me are used to subtitles and dubbing. Obviously you cannot ask 100% perfection.

  • lol i agree with the comment under neath me lol

  • wtf the voice is terrible!!

  • Here is an extract from a letter Romy wrote to a fan:

Le tournage des trois Sissi était évidemment en langue allemande. À l'époque ni moi ni Karlheinz ne parlions français.

Translation: All three Sissi movies were filmed in German. At the time, neither myself nor Karlheinz spoke French.

  • Very interesting but who wrote the letter if she didn´t speak French and most of all what does French have to do with English?

  • She was writing to a fan in Quebec, Canada. Sorry, I was mixing this up with the English dubbing because I've only ever seen the German and French versions. But it's safe to assume that since she didn't speak French, a country geographically closer to her and of as much global influence as England, then it's safe to assume she didn't speak English either. In fact, English was her third language. Further evidence she did not do the anglo dubbing.

  • Romy did write the letter, many years after the filming of Sissi. As she says, she didn't speak French *at the time*. She moved to Paris at 21 yrs of age and resided there until her death, 22 years later.

  • @LuckyStarAT

  • @LuckyStarAT she didn't write that she didn't speak french but that she didn't speak it at that time... later romy lived in France, so I assume she also learned french... but that was later...

  • horrible voice for sissi;

    (and by the way, just for the record, the original sissi had a deep, warm, and quiet voice);

  • Sissi's voice wasn't as good as I hoped, but I like the others.

  • BUUUUUHHHHH!!!!!

    Deutsch mit subtitles!!! viel besser!

    romy forever!!! R.I.P.

  • die englische Version ist SCHROTT!!!

  • This is the first time I've heard the English-language dubbing. It is awful! The original German is best, of course, but the French dubbing is closer to the rhythm and the voices are much nearer the ones of the actors involved. The woman who dubbed Romy's part especially sounds very much like Romy herself, which is wonderful. But this is horrid-- the voices are much too mature and the diction is out of place.

  • This is not Romy Schneider speaking.. not in the least. When will they get it right.. Let them speak just german with English subtitles, much better

  • the original voices are much better than the english ones...

  • The voices weren´t dubbed. All the actors were talking in English on their own as I got to hear from a reasonable source.

  • Put... how could that be? Sissi sounds very strange, and her voice is not at all similar with that one from the German film, and I'm a Sissi lover xD

  • No, the voices were dubbed. At least, I can assure you that in Romy's case it was. What we hear here is distinctly not Romy's voice and distinctly not her accent. Same goes for the French-language version, though there the dubber sounds very much like Romy. But it's not.

  • Certainly they are dubbed. They used to do that back in the 1930s, shoot multilanguage versions of a movie. But not in the 1950s anymore. Besides these are neither the voices of Romy Schneider or of Karlheinz Böhm. And both of them would not have been able to speak English without any accent at that age.

  • I agree partly with you because I really like their English voices. What I dislike is the fact that they cut a wonderful trilogy (original German version) and put it all together into just one movie for the English speaking world because I do think there is so much missing but who know maybe there will be at least an English subtitle version available some time soon.

  • Can't let the truth get in the way when it comes to the ol' Hapburgs, can we? Their firm boot on the neck of the Ukrainians of Galicia. Their stringing up of Italian nationalists in Milan and Venice. This film sure puts ol' Francis Joseph in a good light. Not at all what he was really like.

  • What can I say this is Austrian-Hollywood, lol. But of course you are right and I agree but still it´s a beautiful Kostümfilm/costume film.

  • They should put english subtitles to all three films.

  • I so totally agree because there is so much missing for the English-speaking world.

  • And what's taking them so long to do the subtitles thing with

this film being over 50 years old and it makes for excellent entertainment?

  • Well, that´s something you better ask the Austrian television broadcasting company, called ORF.

  • classic films are hard to find thanx for uploading this

  • hav youu maby a full film? that will be great...

  • wow, I'm impressed. I thought that nothin' can be so good as original voices in austian version, but english dubbing is really nice.

  • Splendid! I love historical period films! What a wonderful and beautiful film. Thank you!

  • I so totally agree and really think that it is a pity that this grand work is only available in a short compilation movie in English.

Another one I really like is the American story of "Gone with the wind" by Margaret Mitchel.

  • Yes, both stories are very interesting-fiction and non-fiction. Wonderful study of history and of tragic characters. In the movie Phantom of the Opera Christine's dress and hair ornaments are copied from the Empress' portrait. Thanks again.
