I love Ellen for million of reasons but this monologue, though hilarious, makes no sense... Take pride in your job? Isn't it rather easier to take pride and remain positive about such work that brings you thousands of dollars, and a little harder when you work your ass of for the minimum wage?

As a cashier,I can assure you that,as menial a job as a cashier or waiter can seem,we can make a person's day just by being good at our jobs.When I was a busser,my best skill was keeping waters and coffee full.As a server, I actually didn't do that good, but their waters and coffees were full.As a cashier, I try to remain pleasant even when you're a donkey-hole,I bag items based on weight/temperature/rat poison, and, if you treat me like I'm not poop,I'll do the extras you don't even know about.

@judasishmael As a fellow worker, I heartily enjoyed hearing this and knowing that there are people out there who try. AS a dishwasher at Boston Pizza, I have one of the shittiest jobs but I make sure I sing, crack jokes, and generally make other workers happy during my shift. Workers unite!
