  • Respond to this video... The Chinese or Japanese character is one

  • Comment removed

  • He just refuses to open his eyes to anything happening around him......

  • This dude most probably have been the first CSICOP member.....

  • Mr. Magoo's original voice was that of actor/comedian Jim Backus. You might remember him as the drunk pilot that Mickey Rooney and Buddy Hacket hooked up with in 1963's 'It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World'. However, for some reason, he did not do this cartoon.

  • I was hate him and until now I hate him

  • ITS McCAIN!

  • Bruce Lee couldnt stand this cartoon. I think he even mentioned somthing about it once!

  • @starguard The last person in the world to piss off is Bruce Lee......

  • Hummm........ i wonder when he'll get glasses??? I hope he never does! He's hilarious!!!

  • Love u

  • This is a classic! So they used a Chinese accent on Charlie. But its OK to use an Italian accent or an Irish accent.

  • Cholly house bloy makes me laugh. Magoo, though, not so much.

  • Poor charley

  • Awesome cartoon and very nonpolitcal correct. Thank you for posting a classic version of the this cartoon.

  • LMFAO CHRALIES HILARIOUZZZ

  • this is a good old fashioned way of making fun of blind people.

  • its terrible to voice over these classics, Charleys appearance is just as PC-incorrect as his voice so change his clothes too, why youre at it how about Abu from The Simpsons?

  • What we NEED to do, IMO, is to get over the "political incorrcetness" and enjoy the cartoons intact, just as we did when we were kids!

  • lol dang all these comments lol ... when you're a kid watching these shows you don't really seem to pay attention to things like adults do lol this show was before my time but came on in reruns and was also put on vhs and I LOVED IT ..thanks for posting this video :)

  • Death, don't have shit On Mr magoo. He's like death repellent! Death.. is afraid of an old blind man XD

  • The PC gestapo at Turner has dubbed in the voice of the black woman (seen only from the knees down) in the classic MGM Tom and Jerry cartoons. I read an interview with that actresses (whose name slips my mind now) granddaughter who said her grandmother would be outraged that her voice was cut out. She was proud of her work on those cartoons, because of the joy it gave to children. Ted Turner should be ashamed for cutting her voice out.

  • people need to build a bridge and get over it about racist cartoons. You dont hear the irish complaining that they always make the police men in american cartoons have cork accents do you? People are to sensitve

  • farmville

gamagan1 take care thank god for utube

  • Man, the USA was a better place before we got Politically correct.

  • Then go back to the past...bitch!

  • friggin hillarious

  • Why are all Chinese people so bucked toothed, and wearing traditional Chinese clothing in these old cartoons? And the police man is of course Irish, and the Mafia are depicted as stupid.....too funny.

  • dude.. it's just a cartoon..

  • I remember an episode where Magoo wanted to barbeque something, and he accidentally took fireworks out of the shed rather than charcoal, and Charlie yells "Boss! Boss! (PC version) The fireworks! The fireworks!!" And Magoo acknowledges "Yes, Charlie, I know the fire works.

  • A wonderful cartoon series from my youth. Some years ago, I bought a VHS tape of Mr. Magoo cartoons. Unfortunately, Charlie's voice was re-dubbed to a more politically acceptable style. It sucked! Does anyone know if this series is available on DVD as it was originally aired (politically incorrect)?

  • Strangely, the DVD is a mix where some are the original untouched, un-PC versions and others are dubbed. Apparently they pulled the source material from different places. Did they actually not notice or not care? Were they too lazy to look harder for all the original versions? "Magoo's Surprise Party" on the DVD is the PC version which is the main reason I left this version posted following the release. If I was able to find an original print, though a number of years ago, why couldn't they?

  • @ftsjr you can find this at shoutfactory. com

  • @JAG214 Thanks for the info.

  • @ftsjr Your welcome

  • I've got an aunt that drives like this Mr. Magoo but its not funny when she is near you in that big car of hers. LMAO

  • leslie nelson was a good mr. magoo but not like this cartoon.

  • The opening titles have been altered on the Mr. Magoo DVD

  • lol! at 3:50 a woman on her knees - looks doggie style

  • yeah and she had terrible big teeth. haha!

  • So Politicallty Incorrect but funny as hell!!

  • I get a kick out of this! An Irish-sounding cop, an Italian-looking thief, a Chinese-servant...wow.

  • That was the most insensitive depiction of an Asian person I have ever seen. But I still laughed my ass off XD good ol' 60s.

  • if anything is deemed politicaly incorrect, does that mean that we shouls fallow suit and forget about incorrect things everytime? the News segment on this when they showed a blind guy commenting on mrmagoo, it sounded like he had rehearsed the dialog a million times, it was pathetic!!! I laughed till I was sick!! LOL

  • Haha, still funny!

  • magoo not magloo

  • sigh!! good old days!! thank u for putting this up!! :-D now thee r wot i call cartoons!! not the silly stuff nowadays!

  • Mr. Magloo!!! Mr. Magloo!!! Oh god....

  • Hi whatsontv1234,

Maybe thats how lots of Tax Dodgers read their "TAX RETURNS"!!! Ha Ha!

    Cheers from Ireland!!

  • Still like to hear the late Mr Jim Backus. I still recall old Mr Howell from Gilligan's Island !!!

I used to see this cartoon in French, 3 different voices: canadian comedians Ronald France and Jean-Claude Robillard, and France's expert vocalist Roger Carel...

  • I remember he had a saturday morning cartoon in the late '70's with Jim Backus still doing his voice.

  • lets play pin the tail on the donkey! XD

  • I'm 56 and watched them as a kid. And I still watch them.

  • go magoo im 31 i used to watch this when i was very young

  • ...Sweet!!!

  • Yea get over yourselves. charlie was a character and a very nice one at that, surely he is a reflection of his time, in that people felt comfort about such a character, even though his establishment was not geared in a cultural understanding.

  • dumb punk]

  • Unhappy people will always find a way to try and make happy folks sad. Political Correctness seems to be the modern method. Won't work.

  • mary jane is mary jane

  • MisahMagloo,I so sorry bloss!!!I think i met this dude on the I 95 south bound in NJ(blind)

  • Show a character with an accent and people accuse you of racism. Bullshit. Charlie was smart and resourceful, he just happened to have a heavy chinese accent. Get over it and yourselves.

  • @Bogframe smart and resourceful AND cute, especially with THAT voice, and it was MR. MAGOO who was the shitty driver, which also shoots holes in any logic behind accusations of racism.

  • @Bogframe I take it you're not from a minority group. If you're Asian or from Asian extraction you might not have such a flippant attitude.

  • @imaneightiesbaby You take it wrong. I'm Jewish. I've seen a lot of Jewish stereotypes, and while I find some of them offensive, I'd take more offense if the characteristics of my race were blurred into something less than the sum of their parts.

  • Cuando tradujeron Mr. Magoo al castellano escogieron muy bien al traductor, pues su voz es muy parecida al que habla inglés.

  • funny!

  • Just great. Love it

  • I love magoo..hillarious thanks!

  • is this our next president? Mc Cann?

  • Mr. Magoo.... was my cartoon!! other the Woody woodpecker....

  • u cn tell its old u can see by the way they epict chinese ppl:P

  • and the cops...

  • Jim Backus was one of the funniest actors out there.

  • I love mr magoo! Thanx

  • Thanks a lot for posting this lost treasure. Private prints and bootleg collections ftw!

  • lol charlie....racist but back then it was no big deal...shit you could say the "N" word on tv

  • If charlie is a racist interpretation, what is Kahn on King of the Hill? Hmmmm?

  • In the Magoo DVD set that was FINALLY released, most of the cartoons are intact while others (including "Magoo's Surprise Party") have Charlie dubbed in an awkward all-too-caucasian voice (which should be more insulting!). I don't get it?

In the compiling process, did someone not notice the difference between the original and re-issue versions, or were they too lazy to seek out all the originals?

  • Until sometime in the 80's, TV stations were provided 16mm prints from a company called PAT. It's only due to private collectors snatching these up when the stations went entirely to tape that prints of rare TV shows exist at all. My question is, what happened to PAT's masters? Their prints typically contained all the original bumpers, teases for the next episode and so forth. Yet most DVD releases lack these nostalgic extras. How careless this industry is!

  • I also suspect that the people behind these DVD releases are too young to remember these shows and figure that the first print they find is all there is. I know this because I recently interviewed for a job at a company that releases on DVD, among other things, vintage films. Virtually everyone there was 20-something. Can you say age discrimination? Yet a caricature like Charlie is considered far more scandalous! How pathetic!

  • "Can you say age discrimination?"

My God, you've got that right. It seems the highest qualification these days is being someone who thinks the universe began the day you were born.

  • 'If Charlie is a racist interpretation, what is Kahn on King of the Hill?' Uh-oh. Another one of these Politically-Correct assholes Who wants to stir shit up with race-baiting. You people will stir up trouble picking out anything that someone else sees in people. The world will NOT be a perfect utopia. Put your hippie bongs and LSD down. Or is it fucking Big city sophisticated yuppie shit? Even worse.Don't like it? Who gives a fuck? Move to Canada...

  • you're a douche

  • lol...I happen to agree....and I'm from Canada! So much for stereotypes, eh?

  • Too bad people consider this racist. Charlie was a lovable character, and saved MaGoo many times.

  • omg my uncle asked me what mr.magoo was ihad no clue so thakns for ading this

  • my 16 yr old daughter never saw mr magoo we can change that as soon as she gets off work thanx a million

  • is charlie supposed to be related to the vietnam war?

  • kinda racist but mr. magoo is my shit

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. Being extremely nearsighted myself, I absolutely LOVE watching Mr. Magoo! He's a riot and always will be!

  • lol! my teacher showed us this video today in class. i loved it so i'm watching another 1. i like the cartoons the teachers used to watch when they were little.

  • Yes!!!! is fuccking great Mr Magoo, jajaj, is very similar to friend Sergio Cabrera, from Chile.

  • Great!!

  • Fucking classic cartoon. a liitle racicst but so am i. fuck i'm old!!

  • "Charlie the Houseboy" was specifically created for these TV cartoons (this was first seen in 1961), and was also present in Pete Alvarado's syndicated comic strip version in the mid-'60s.

  • Thats awesome. Does anyone remember another 60's/70's cartoon with a little mexican dude(human) with a big sombrero..cant remember the name of it but it had an amazing style?? grr!

  • You must be thinking of Go-Go Gomez. He was one of Dick Tracy's rotating "Retouchable" characters who were the actual stars of those cartoons, voiced by Mel Blanc. He also appeared in a "Waldo And Presley" episode.

  • haha1 i love mr magoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I always loved Jim Backus in this role.

  • Nice. Thanks.

  • Oh- Mistah Maa-Gloo,...... Ohh, Charlie !

  • classic

  • Good old Magoo he`ll tell us what to do.

  • lol haha

  • I LOVED Mr. Magoo growing up. Always watched intently for that 1/2 second that he opened his eyes!!

  • that one thug sounded like a total wus

  • BTW, check out Mr. Magoo "Beer Commercials", even funnier.

  • LOL God bless Mr. Magoo...this stuff is actually FUNNY, despite the fact that it's like 40 years old. Pretty impressive.

  • HI MAGOO HA HA HA HA HA

  • ahhh, Jim Backus. If he is not remembered as Mr Howell, he surely is remembered as the voice of Mr MaGoo.

  • OMG an 18th century bucktooth Chinaman, an Irish cop and a stupid blind old man. How America has changed!

  • As for political correctness..not to mention the slapstick gunshots and nearsightedness in addiiton to "Cholly".

  • Hehhh Hehhh...My namesake! What a wonderful little fellow! Hehh Hehhh....

  • cooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllll

  • I Loooved Mr. Magoo, he reminds me of my grandfather. hahahaha

  • AHAHAH the best is the asian dude, cuz he looks like my friend Jimmy Chow! hahahahh crazy ol' Jimmy..he helped me around town too

  • Hop Sing from Bonanza died around '64 (hence, the need for Charlie) and Jim Backus was awesome as the voice of Magoo. A true classic that looks and sounds like a forerunner of much of what you see on Nicklelodeon.

  • Oddly enough when UPA's Dick Tracy cartoons were reran in syndication in the summer of 1990 [to promote the release of Warren Beatty's live action Dick Tracy movie] Joe Jitsu's voice was left untouched, I guess USA thought Charlie's voice was offensive and the syndicators didn't? Of course many local stations pulled the episodes with him in it [and the Mexican character Go Go Gomez] in protest, so somebody was offended!!

  • When these cartoons were reran on the USA Network weekday mornings from 1989 to 1990 [under the title "Mr. Magoo And Friends", it also showed segments from The Gerald McBoing Boing Show and the 1977-1978 DePatie-Freleng produced What's New, Mr. Magoo? series] Charlie's voice was redubbed to an English accent by 2 anonymous voice actors [one with a deep voice and one with a scratchy voice, neither fit the character]!!

  • Wow...an Irish copAnyone of you babyboomers over 45 catch that "Magloo's" Asian "houseboy" (the one with the 18-inch long teeth) is also named "Charlie"??? I guess Hop sing was already taken!! Geez.

  • Yeah its too bad that political correctness becomes such a determining factor here. The boys in Washington D.C. are good at pointing the fingers at others just so as long its not in their direction. Change is coming and NOT in the favor of either the Democrats or the Republicans currently in office. Watch and see!

  • I agree that all this political correctness is a bunch of "hooey". These are the cartoons of our youth, and we should see them, and others need to know the history. These may not have been the best Magoo cartoons, and whathaveyou, but, it should be there for us.

  • I remember these being on local TV in St Louis up to the early 1980s. Then one day *poof*, gone, and no wonder. Damn political correctness!

  • Awesome! I haven't seen the original Magoo cartoons since at least 1980. Not suprising why you rarely see reruns anymore ("Mista Ma-GLOOO!").

Thanks for sharing - please put up more if you have them!
