Dennis Kucinich for President in 2012 for a Socialist Party but not the Democratic Party. Because he could bring attention to the Democratic Socialist movement in America. Attention they don't get in the Democratic Party and the Mainstream Media.
Watch Michael moore's movie; Sicko and you get an idea of which country who's got the most solid healthcare system in the world, which I intend to say is the french people.
And anyways, I can see Michael moore is vouching for this guy.
I'd say you should all follow Michael moore, he knows the way!
He's still the only one who offers to pave the way for the same level of service we have here in the United Kingdom.
It's a shame that the results so far haven't gone his way and that the mass media will probably prevent him from the White House. The best we can hope for is Vice-President, I think...
canada and the united kingdum do not have that good of a helath care systum we should not look at them as an exsample but look at other countries and improve on them for our own helath care systum
I would be HAPPY to pay higher taxes so that all Americans can *finally* have equal access to health care. Any candidate who does not stand behind HRS 676 should step down from this presidential debate. PLEASE, EVERYONE: VOTE FOR KUCINICH!!!
Whoa Nelly! You want Government Healthcare? We already have it, its called the VA Healthcare system and the IHS (Indian Health Service). I've worked in the VA, and currently work frequently with the IHS, be careful what you wish for.
Also had a chance to work in UK for 6 months with the NHS. Be very, very careful what you wish for.
I am a disabilities advocate. The real age group that gets shut off for health insurance is the 18 and older. Not married, in school, flipping burgers, struggling. I saw "Sicko" I passed out 500 flyers. I protested in front my my congressmens office. HMO'S are a living nightmare. HMO'S are for the healthy only.
==== Jenn807 ----- HIGHER TAXES ,,,, can you pay more than in 2007 FOR HEALTH INSURANCE ,,,, 400-500$ for working family is Huuuuuuuge TAX(and you are getting TONS of paper work) .///// better everybody pays 100 $ a month ,,, so we do not have to WORRY ABOUT LOOSING HOUSE or NOT been able to pay .....
Great video! Healthcare is the single most important issue in the 2008 election. United States is the only Western industrialized nation with out universal healthcare. The private sector is not stable enough for healthcare. Our own health is at stake here. Kucinich is the only canidate who coauthored the HR 676 bill, a bill that was supposed to lead to a more healthier and prosperous America through single-payer, universal healthcare.
Regulation of the medical industry increases cost and challanges innovation. The FDA should be abolished and any form of socialized healthcare should not be allowed. Im voting Ron Paul because he wants less government regulation and a free market.
I have no objection to paying higher Taxes if I'm going to directly benefit from it! So, you can take your "conservative scare tactics" and stick them right up your asshole! You Corporate, Jingoistic, rightwing cocksucker!
My grandma was sent from a hospital to a nursing home basically to be passed off to die because she could not afford insurance. The nusing home costs $7,000 per month. She died the same day she was put there, and my dad now has a nursing home bill for $1700. It's getting awfully expensive to die, isn't it? And that doesn't count both hospital and funeral bills. The widow of a WWII vet couldn't even get her funeral paid for, how's that for taking care of the people?
If higher taxes can prevent this from happening to anyone else, I say bring it on. It cannot possibly compare to the cost millions now pay for prescription drugs, check ups, hospital visits, co-pays, and let's face it--the DEATH EXPENSES that result from inability to pay for needed medical care. So tax me for something OTHER than Iraq, for a cause worthy of my money, and I will cheerfully pay up.
---- I will vote for this guy ... he needs to be the president ..... AND get people in NEED care they need ..... Health Insurance is the way to got ..... NON PROFIT health insurance ..... and PRIVATE 100% coverage .... not some 80% bullshit and paperwork GARBAGE WHICH is in place now ...........
hey axiboldas...If you weren't listening to Jimi Hendrix, you would have gotten the jist of the Video...It was a dedication to Michael Moore! Pay attention!
"The belief is common that the day is at hand when corporations...swaying power such as has never in the world's history been trusted in the hands of mere private citizens...will ultimately succeed in directing government itself."
- Henry Brooks Adams, Grandson of President John Q. Adams (1838-1918).
sorry, but looking to micheal moore for your inspiration is a joke. You just lost my support on that alone. besides nearly every answer you give to any category on here involves raising taxes through the roof.
please, there isn't a platform this guy has talked about that doesn't include raising taxes. He OPENLY states he wishes to raise taxes, it isn't just about 676, it is his ENTIRE stance on every issue. Bill Clinton already stripped our military, this dude wants to put the dagger through it.
LIE. 400000 people who make their lives supporting an unneeded military need to be held accountable for creating the war machine. Peace on earth is what God wants as well as most people. We can find the miltary other jobs. Dennis is not into rasing taxes. With more money not wasted in Iraq we can afford good teachers to help people get smarter.
"uneeded military"? really, you believe the military is "unneeded"? friend if you truly believe this you are either naive or stupid. how do you think you have thefreedom to be able to do the things you can do? your freedom doesn't come free, a price has been paid, and will continue to be paid. pull your head out of your ass and smell the coffee. nobody wants war but there are many people out there who want nothing more than the destruction of our freedom and way of life.
Hate to break it to you but God loves a good war here and there. And yes, Dennis loves taxes. You are also correct, you need to get smarter. Thanks for playing. See the man at the door for your consolation prize.
Who are you to interpret God? I am no Christian but I will ask you this question. Higher taxes? Good. We need it to fund stuff, like universal health care, public transit system and REDUCING THE NATIONAL DEBT.
Who am I to interpret God? The guy who read the bible and noticed that all the lovely wars were conducted with God's blessings. So you like higher taxes? Well step up to the plate young man. If you ain't making 63700 min, you ain't paying taxes. Put your money where your mouth is and I mean your money, not mine.
I am not talking about NEA for art. I am talking about NEA for teachers. That group there does more damage to our kids than most liberals do in their lives.
Budget has nothing to do with teaching liberal ideology. I could teach liberal ideology with a dollar budget (god that made me feel dirty). Eliminate the NEA and we can stamp out the brainwashing of our children. Liberalism: The new AIDs.
Hey dragonlord10...Last time I checked, it was the right wing Cons that do all the brainwashing. Also, it's kind of scary how non-compasionate you use the word AIDS. I'm thinking that you really suck. Correct me if I'm wrong!?
Why would I be compassionate about a bunch of pole smokers with AIDS? And seriously, we are not the ones who are trying to brainwash kids into believing that values, morality, being honest, working hard and being successful is wrong. That is exactly what the dems do. Also, ManCow is a conservative so why are you insulting him?
Consider yourself corrected: Dems do everything possible to force legislation to control what people eat, smoke, drink, and think. There is your brainwashing. Furthermore, I have zero sympathy for some cock gobbler who has AIDS and as far as I am concerned he deserves it. Lastly, ManCow is a conservative so I don't know why you have him as a handle.
Well first off, western Europe's idea of national pride was to roll over and play with the balls of Germany 2 times over. Now you managed to surrender whatever sovereignty to a bunch of politicians called the EU. Europe spends to much time appeasing. Apparently the last world war did not have much of a lesson. on that.
nice retort! You know, I completely changed my mind! NOT! You know as well as I do, you bunch of weenies would sell your soul to the devil if the government would hold your hand cradle to the grave. Need money? Steal it from those who work hard. Need healthcare? Steal it from those who work hard. Europe: Socialist workers paradise.
What if through the cooperation of a multitude of businesses, everytime you as a consumer bought a car, coffee, meal, tools, magazine, tickets to sporting event, movie, plane trip, etc, you were prepaying for health care with no additional fees? No health expense. What if prices remained low and competitive. Increased Sales tax Not needed. What if 4/5 of economy primarily helped 1/5 (health) as well as prosper more itself?
What if Primary Health funding was acheived through more consumer spending(their own choice) on other industry products and services(what people "want" to spend)?... What if cooperatively a multitude of biz(other industries) collectively paid an individually affordable gross profit percent into one Pool/fund, by choice, with tax relief incentives and while keeping prices low and competitive for consumer? What if Gov't/taxes were barely invovled?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
OMFG! sicko is the WORST film ever that is just a giant misrepresentation of Cuba. In america, maybe it costs more, but the care you get is BETTER. whether you pay for it on your own or in taxes, universal health care would cost the same. it would never work, how about we make everything universal. that worked for the communists didnt it?...
okay i am a michael moore supporter. but the government should not be making medical decisions on my body. it's the doctor i want to work with. you still are not giving it to the people. i like you but not on this issue don't hide behind michael moore.
I trust them far more than I trust the government. But that is the new America. Lack of a backbone, lack of personal responsibility. Always a victim, it is someone else's fault. Government is great, etc, etc, etc...
I'm voting for Kucinich because of his message. He isn't owned by the corporations, the neo cons, the think tanks, the special interests (all who aided and abeted this false war with the Fox News network and Clear Channel. The info is out there; he wasn't stupid enough to vote for false wars. THE PEOPLE WANT HIM. Scientists don't lie-- well real ones not on the take...ask yourself about building 7 and planned demolition...where was Marvin Bush for weeks prior to the 911 incident?
You are voting for Dennis because of his stance on higher taxes? you don't think he is in the pocket of some special interest? you are truly naive pal. if you dont think you are paying enough taxes, then call up the irs and tell them you would like to contribute more. and by stating "real scientists" you mean those who agree with your point of view, then I guess you are correct "they dont lie" do they?
It's time we move from being a "me" generation to a "we" generation. If someone is sick in our country, it is the collective WE who should look after this person, regardless of their background or history. Let's stop looking after only ourselves and start looking after each other.
Maybe your not familiar with this country. Let me help you. We spend a significant portion of our GDP to help those who can but choose not help themselves. The amount of people who seriously need help is actually quite small. The problem lies with attorneys and insurance companies. Fix them, you fix the problem. Asking the Feds to further take from me in order not to fix the problem is asinine.
Do you really want to government to be responsible for your health care? Do you? Are you that sloth like that you cannot handle something simple as your health? Fix the issue on the level where the people retain power. Why let the government have power over your health? Unless you enjoy being a slave.....
Thank you for looking at the root of the problem. People need to STOP BEING SELFISH! Health problems can happen to people who did not make choices that lead to those problems.
Every other industrialized nation has understood that, except the US. All of these services are not just funded by state and local governments, and in fact some of them are not funded at all by such governments! But yet it doesn't say in the Constitution that you are entitled to such things.
Just because you "read" the Constitution does not mean you "understand" what it says. You are reaching in order to justify why you should not be permitted to pay for health care and why it is my responsibility to be taxes further for your non-compliance of paying your debts. My Constitution does include bankruptcy requirements. So they already knew it was coming.
Do you know why we still have all of these public services? We have them because we recognize that they are essential to a CIVILIZED Democratic society. It's the same thing with healthcare. Healthcare is a human right it every CIVILIZED industrialized nation has caught on to that.
I recognize the need of the services. However, health care is your responsibility. It is your right to seek out care and it is your responsibility to pay for that care. Sticking me with your bill is not part of the social contract. But then again, you know that.
Dragonlord10, why is health care a US TAXPAYER responsibility, but your right to public education, public transportation, access to clean water, access to safe food, drugs, cosmetic items, and access to safe bridges, roads, and highways is everyone else's responsibility?
You are really serious right? Ok, I'll bite. Health care is your responsibility because it is your body. It is your health. Not mine. The job of FDA/EPA is to make sure the food/water we get is safe to consume because it tends to cross over different countries and different states. An outbreak of E.Coli can kill a large amount of people in one fell swoop.
Part II. Transportation of goods is necessary for the GNP of our country. The ability to move between states and grow the economy is a tax payer concern and thus it falls under our responsibility to pay the taxes so that each state can flourish with goods or tourism.
Part III. You as an individual make a decision to eat, drink, smoke, etc.. every day. Now if the FDA says smoking is bad for you and you jam 2 packs in your mouth daily, why do I have to pay your cancer bill? Likewise, you drink a bathtub full of soda and get diabetes. Why is it my responsibility? You eat at McDonalds every day 3 times a day and your fatter than Rosie O'Donnel, why is it my obligation to pay for you? It isn't. It is your responsibility.
Why is it ok for me to pay for your food to be inspected (to make sure it is safe) but you not pay for my healthcare? Why is it ok for me to pay for your roads, bridges, and highways when I don't even use the highways and bridges you use, but you not pay for my health care?
Ok, this is getting out of hand. You are being obtuse and it's deliberate. You know you eat the same food that everyone else eats. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, you do use highways and an occasional bridge. You are the beneficiary of the commerce that keeps your stores stocked with goods. It's called infrastructure.
Why is that ok dragonlord10? Dragonlord10, I'm not looking to justify why I or anyone else should not pay for our own health care. I don't even believe health care should even be made for sale. I believe it is a basic human right just as all of the other rights I have layed out here.
Basic human right does not mean you have the right to slough off your bills to other people. If you have zero issue with putting yourself in 15k of credit card debt for fun toys and stuff, then don't be surprised at the 40k medical bill if you value your life.
Where does it say in the Constitution that the federal government has the authority to regulate and or fund how state and local governments operate their educational systems? Where does it say in the Constitution that you are entitled to travel on safe bridges and highways? Do you know where it says any of these things in the Constitution? Nowhere!
The 10th Amendment allows for states to determine what they wish to do. However the state may request for federal assistance at anytime. All the state has to say is no.
Dragonlord10, that doesn't make any sense. Article 1, section 8 defines the role of government and commerce. That has nothing to do with bridges or highways or roads you travel on. It doesn't say anything about you having the right to travel on safe bridges, roads, or highways! I'm sorry but you are going to have to come up with something better than that! Have you read the Constitution?
Before I forget, Article 1, section 8 clearly defines the role of the government in terms of regulation of commerce. Which establishes the basis for roads, bridges, etc. Try again.
Dragonlord10, that doesn't make any sense. Article 1, section 8 defines the role of government and commerce. That has nothing to do with bridges or highways or roads you travel on. Wow dude....Commerce is the effective transportation of goods/services. In order to have commerce, you must have an effective method of transportation or the infrastructure to handle it. The FAA controls the airspace, the interstates are federal. States pick up the tab for everything else. Try again.
Also, the 10th Amendment may allow the states to do what they want regarding education and its funding, but that still does not change the fact the federal government in recent years HAS been involved with state educational systems. Have you not heard of NCLB? Or were you sleeping in government class when they were covering that too? The federal government has already passed a FEDERAL law ensuring that it will be involved in educational institutions within the states.
Blame the NEA for that. They wanted a simplified way of jamming their agenda down our kids throats. However, general welfare can be considered to be education.
You should really check Kucinich's background. Long career. Record is clean. He is straightforward. Consistent both in talk and actions. Lots of detailed ideas. When many sweet talk about what direction they would take in the most vague way (since when nothing specific is promised it's easy to fail to deliver what people thought you would),Kucinich gives you specifics. No gimmicks.
Oh I see. You got a problem with me not wanting to pay for your health care? I'm sorry will that cut into your ability to put a plasma tv in every room plus the garage? So its ok to tax the shit out of me as long as you don't pay your bill right?
I have a problem with my tax dollars being used to pay for an illegal war and the murder of innocent civilians and 3600+ of our soldiers. Our tax dollars should be spent to help people, not harm them.
This country is already taxing the shit out of you and your tax dollars are being spent to MURDER people while 46 million Americans have no health care. $720 MILLION per day - on an illegal war. Yet you would rather throw all that money at Iraq while you complain about helping AMERICANS stay healthy? That's just sick, dude.
Actually what is sick is that your are willing to use force to compel taxpayers to pay your debt. The fact you would use the power of government to use whatever force necessary to seize money from another to give to you is un-american. However, since you view war as way of murder and illegal, then really, you are not an American. More like a resident of the U.S.
Health care is your right. I reserve the right not to pay for it. You seem to not grasp that concept. You are more than welcome to get whatever care you want. I am not paying for it. I am not going to cough up another 3.3% of my income or my wife's for it.
No pal, if you live in the same society. And benifit because of us, then you and your spoiled whore wife, should have to pay for it. You could show me a million facts as to why you have the right to hoard your wealth. But I wouldn't feel a bit bad about robbing you to save my or someone elses life. Life is more important than your greed.
Oh? How do I benefit from you? Last time I checked, I made the decision to go to school and do well for myself. I made the decision not to break myself with credit card debt among other things. You mistake greed for personal responsibility. Taking care of your health is purely your responsibility. Forcing me at gun point to take care of you is absurd and you know it. But then again, you come across as the perfect little socialist.
Hmm...now, should the US scrap Social Security? According to your logic, yes, as it is "socialist" and "purely your responsibility". Now try to convince the American public to scrap it (like Bush in 2005). You will have a hard time doing that. Now, if you are the anti-"class warfare" crowd, my rebuttal is that class warfare is what the Chinese did in the Cultural Revolution. This is not.
Conclusion: There is nothing inherently wrong with socialism, just as there is nothing inherently wrong with Christianity, capitalism, etc. It's what you do with it.
You forgot somebody. Al Gore. Lockbox. remember? Same thing that Bush was proposing. And yes, scrap it. Personally, upon 65, you get a one million dollar payoff if you actually did something with your life for the last 40 years. Done and over with. No more 70 cents on the dollar SSI, no more raping the fund. Done deal.
You benefit from everyone around you. Who do you think builds the streets, and makes cars. People deliver food to your area so you can eat. You think you're an island? The whole system is setup so the rich can benefit from the poor. I don't care if you call me a socialist, like it's a bad word. I wish we had socialist healthcare like Canada. What's absurd is to try to mask greed as responsibility. Typical neocon guilt dodging.
God you are such an moran. What does people delivering food have to do with Federal taxation? Nothing. Check it out sparky, whatever I benefit from I contributed one way or another. The whole system was setup for people like you who want to fail in life to fail.
You are already paying, the question is do you want to get more for the money? Do you want that money to be used more efficiently? Or do you want to keep supporting the fat cat private health insurers?
I paid $7 grand for 17 yrs they denied me BSBC they gave me VIOXX for arthrities and then they turned me away from the county Hospital Jackson Tn and I had Excellent Credit They told me there was nothing they could do for me ! I went home to die and I found a natural Cure and it worked I saved my own life
Healthcare is not a commodity that exists only to turn a profit. Insurance and pharmaceutical manufacturers have made billions off the misfortune of others. It is time for a change in the way that our system works. Why does it all come down to money with you? Why tell someone that he is less of a man because he couldn't pay off medical bills? That makes you less of a man in my eyes. Do you understand that WORKING TAXPAYING AMERICANS are dying every day because they can't afford care?
Do you understand that your debt is not mine? Can you grasp that? Why are you allowed to pay your mortgage, car payment, credit cards, but your medical debt is not your responsibility? Explain that (if you can)
And don't give me that bullshiat about the working tax paying american. I am one. I'll give you working Americans do a degree, but 6 million of them are welfare recipients from hell. taxpaying? Yeah on their smokes and booze. Sure as hell not on income. Yeah they get 1.45% on SS taken. Big whoop.
Dragonlord10, Where does it say in the Constitution that the federal government has a right to take my tax dollars and fund the military and fund an illegal war? Where does it say in the Constitution that you are entitled to clean water? Where does it say in the Constitution that you are entitled to safe food, drugs, or cosmetic items?
Preamble (general welfare for your last set of questions). Article II for your war issue:
Section 2. The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices,
Oh, by the way, you still didn't answer my questions regarding public education or public transportation. Are you using the preamble in the Constitution to justify those rights too?
Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
To borrow money on the credit of the United States;
I feel bad for all those cowboys driving in their pickup trucks, gas guage on E,got no health care, living hand to mouth, they can't look out of their rearview mirror without staring at their "W" sticker. As if W or any of those corporate shills in DC give a damn about you or your family. When the cowboys wakeup we will get the relief we need. Why is it in US that our health is governed by our wealth? Don't let the man hold you down. HR 676 is the answer.
What happened to our country? What happen to the American can do spirit? How did we get to the gimme gimme generation where one man's medical debt is another's responsibility? A nation of pussies. No better than the French it seems.
Actually the French have the best health care in the world:) I would generally agree with you on taxes but health care should be a right to everyone including the poor. What happened if you couldn't afford medical care. Should we just let you die?
omg...when did everything become a right? Where the hell is it in my Constitution? Don't confuse it with the pursuit of happiness deal. You have the freedom to choose your treatment. Free to do what you want. Paying for it on the other hand is not my job.
Where is the presence of a national bank in the Constitution? You know, the famous Jefferson-Hamilton debate? And guess what? Hamilton won that one and the national bank idea was adopted ("necessary and proper" clause; why not health care?). Now, is it forced charity to ask for you to pay taxes for roads, libraries, etc.? Think about it. Though, I do credit your intelligence for not being one of the idiot followers of Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.
idiot follower of limbaugh? Don't even listen to him. Roads and Libraries are needed as a matter of public interest. Your failure to pay your own medical bill is not a matter of public interest. It is your failure as a man to be successful and control your destiny.
I hope that you never have to experience first hand the misfortune that you're criticizing. Maybe you need to, though. It would definitely change your perspective. Keep worshiping your money in the meantime.
Misfortune? Holy Christ. Dude, it's called (Get ready for it) LIFE! Shit happens. Roll with it. Change the insurance companies way of doing things. Whatever, just don;t come to me and my family demanding we tighten out belts, lose out on our vacation, our retirement because you can't handle a medical bill.
Look at this: the Hippocratic Oath taken by doctors contains the line that he will save the patient at all costs. Now, if we throw the insurance company in, the doctor is calling them to see if they will approve of your surgery. In many, many cases that forces them to break the oath. Also, universal health care is a lot cheaper than the current system (translates to more dough for you).
You smoke 4 packs a day and get lung cancer, that is all you. Not me. You drink to the point your liver dies, again, your problem, not mine. To force me at gunpoint to pay for those procedures is absolutely n-American. You want to be a slave to government, be my guest. I am a free man and I will do whatever it takes to not pay into this. If I have to cheat the IRS out of every nickel to get away from it. I would rather go to prison than pay another cent.
You have it backwards. It is the people who live their lives as ignorant as possible while playing the race/victim cards make everyone else around them suffer.
676 taxes the crap out of everyone jackass. Try reading it and actually understanding it. Look past the word "FREE" and read the part of "EVERYONE" will pay a higher tax. You have zero right to my money for your health care. Zero. Repeat it several times. Slam your face into a brick if need be. But get it through your goddamn fucking skull, my money is mine.
dragonlord10, Where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to be protected by the police, or that you have a right to expect firefighters to come help you put out a fire? Where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to public education? Where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to public transportation?
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. (General Welfare clause). Also firefighters and police are more of a state issue. But you knew that already.
Exactly, you are entitled to all of those public services because they are declared in the preamble of the Constitution, through the concept of promoting the general welfare of the nation as a whole. The same thing can be said for healthcare. It promotes the GENERAL WELFARE of nation as a whole.
I never said you could not get healthcare. What I said is, it your responsibility to take care of your bill. If you want to get heart surgery in order to live, go for it. I am not paying your bill.
Try this again: When a community forms, it was in the best interest of said community to protect it from fire, flood, and crime. Everyone agreed that it was needed and was taxed in order to provide it. Health care is provided as a service to the people of the community. Most people tend to themselves when it comes to sickness as is, so health care is more individual than societal.
If you can use the preamble to justify your reasoning to be allowed to have access to clean water, public transportation, safe food, and public education, even though it does not SPECIFICALLY SAY in the Constitution that you are entitled to these rights, then you can also use the preamble to justify the rights of ALL Americans to have access to good quality healthcare!
Now your reaching. I never said these were rights. That is the problem with you liberal types. Everything is a right. I said it was a need. Big difference between the two.
Everybody has a need. Question is why should I pay for your "need". Why should you demand from me more of my income and my families income to take care of you? If you are incapable of taking care of yourself, then death should be preferable, yes? It is a matter of honor. A man is a man. It is your job to take the worl by the horns and make it bend. If you cannot, then the weak shall perish.
May I remind you AGAIN that it promotes the general welfare of the nation as whole to have a UHC system. Section 8 of Article 1 clearly lays out that Congress has the right to collect taxes to provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States. Also, police and firefighters are state issues, but they are STILL FUNDED BY STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS!
Police and firefighters also receive federal funds based on the programs they need to participate in. You may think raping the taxpayers is conducive to general welfare for UHC, I don't. General welfare does not mean I hold your hand from cradle to the grave.
If we REALLY were to follow your interpretation of the Constitution then the states would not be consider as one country. If you really wanted to get technical about it, anyone traveling to my home state that is not a native resident or isn't from my home state should not have the right or the sense of security of being protected by local authorities or the local fire department because the local police and fire department are funded by STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS!
Why do you think the Constitution afforded the feds the responsibility of being the only entity to make coin? Yes, the states are separate entities under one union. However, I am entitled to the protections of law enforcement in any state as long as their is federal jurisdiction. And there is.
Meaning, if you are not a native resident of my home state, and you come to visit don't expect to be protected by the local police if you have a security issue or the local fire department if you have a fire emergency! Isn't that fair? I mean, isn't that the way it should be, according to your interpretation? My tax dollars should not be paying for anyone that is a non-resident who doesn't live in my home state!
Emergency services are universal and thus cannot be denied to any person. If I cross into your state, I am no longer bound by the laws of my state but yours. If I want to go to your college, then I have residency requirements. I pay higher or lower premmys based on residency for insurance.
You make it sound as though each US state is its own little country. I'm sorry buddy but that is not the case. We are not called the UNITED States for nothing. This is one country and we need to start working together for betterment of our country as a whole. Why should you or anyone else for that matter reap the benefits of LOCAL STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS when you don't even live here?
I am Voting for KUCINICH and my entire family and all my Friends who are in Their 40 50s and so on More people will VOTE KUCINICH and it will Blow all of the others out of the Water ... We LOVE DENNIS KUCINICH !
please consider supporting candidate MIKE GRAVEL for president instead of Kucinich. he has the guts to stand up and the STRONG VOICE to go with it! (gravel08. us)
Don't patronize us by saying it's not free, we pay for it with taxes!." Well we drive on city streets for FREE -- but we paid for their construction with taxes, they are FREE, -- the book at the library is FREE, -- the Fire Depatment, the Police Depatment etc., are FREE. ALL these are FREE services, collectively socialized and paid for with our tax dollars. To argue that health care -- a life & death issue for many -- should not be considered in the exact SAME league is LUDICROUS and ARCHAIC.
Obviously you never met a parking meter. No have you ever been charged by the fire department to fill up a pool. Never been charged by the police for a false 911. Look you love socialism so much, France is great. Get out.
Do not use "it's French" as an argument. Look, does America not have something to learn from France (#1 health care system, #1 worker productivity rating, when France's unemployment is a stubborn 10%)?
France has a crushing tax rate. Who gives a damn about the 35 hour work week or free health care when your taxes are over 70%? Most of the wealthy French or upper middle class fled. Try again.
The fire department is not a federal agency. They exist on state and county dollars. Fed's give them money for forest fire issues and counter-terrorism issues. Try doing some actual research before you post.
Dennis Kucinich for President in 2012 for a Socialist Party but not the Democratic Party. Because he could bring attention to the Democratic Socialist movement in America. Attention they don't get in the Democratic Party and the Mainstream Media.

He's still the only one who offers to pave the way for the same level of service we have here in the United Kingdom.
It's a shame that the results so far haven't gone his way and that the mass media will probably prevent him from the White House. The best we can hope for is Vice-President, I think...

Great video! Healthcare is the single most important issue in the 2008 election. United States is the only Western industrialized nation with out universal healthcare. The private sector is not stable enough for healthcare. Our own health is at stake here. Kucinich is the only canidate who coauthored the HR 676 bill, a bill that was supposed to lead to a more healthier and prosperous America through single-payer, universal healthcare.
hapet02 4 years ago 2
Kucinich needs high taxes to cover his plans.
Regulation of the medical industry increases cost and challanges innovation. The FDA should be abolished and any form of socialized healthcare should not be allowed. Im voting Ron Paul because he wants less government regulation and a free market.

Jenn807 4 years ago
If higher taxes can prevent this from happening to anyone else, I say bring it on. It cannot possibly compare to the cost millions now pay for prescription drugs, check ups, hospital visits, co-pays, and let's face it--the DEATH EXPENSES that result from inability to pay for needed medical care. So tax me for something OTHER than Iraq, for a cause worthy of my money, and I will cheerfully pay up.

Why must France "die in a fire"? The French are more correct on most issues than Americans.
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
By the way, the NEA's budget is only $307 million (about $1 per capita). It can't really do that much, so, wrong target!
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
I am not talking about NEA for art. I am talking about NEA for teachers. That group there does more damage to our kids than most liberals do in their lives.

dragonlord10 4 years ago

What if through the cooperation of a multitude of businesses, everytime you as a consumer bought a car, coffee, meal, tools, magazine, tickets to sporting event, movie, plane trip, etc, you were prepaying for health care with no additional fees? No health expense. What if prices remained low and competitive. Increased Sales tax Not needed. What if 4/5 of economy primarily helped 1/5 (health) as well as prosper more itself?

What if Primary Health funding was acheived through more consumer spending(their own choice) on other industry products and services(what people "want" to spend)?... aussieandroo 4 years ago 2
Maybe your not familiar with this country. Let me help you. We spend a significant portion of our GDP to help those who can but choose not help themselves. The amount of people who seriously need help is actually quite small. The problem lies with attorneys and insurance companies. Fix them, you fix the problem. Asking the Feds to further take from me in order not to fix the problem is asinine.

dragonlord10 4 years ago
Thank you for looking at the root of the problem. People need to STOP BEING SELFISH! Health problems can happen to people who did not make choices that lead to those problems.
mathguy112358 4 years ago
Every other industrialized nation has understood that, except the US. All of these services are not just funded by state and local governments, and in fact some of them are not funded at all by such governments! But yet it doesn't say in the Constitution that you are entitled to such things.
lc0149 4 years ago
Just because you "read" the Constitution does not mean you "understand" what it says. You are reaching in order to justify why you should not be permitted to pay for health care and why it is my responsibility to be taxes further for your non-compliance of paying your debts. My Constitution does include bankruptcy requirements. So they already knew it was coming.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Do you know why we still have all of these public services? We have them because we recognize that they are essential to a CIVILIZED Democratic society. It's the same thing with healthcare. Healthcare is a human right it every CIVILIZED industrialized nation has caught on to that.
lc0149 4 years ago
I recognize the need of the services. However, health care is your responsibility. It is your right to seek out care and it is your responsibility to pay for that care. Sticking me with your bill is not part of the social contract. But then again, you know that.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Dragonlord10, why is health care a US TAXPAYER responsibility, but your right to public education, public transportation, access to clean water, access to safe food, drugs, cosmetic items, and access to safe bridges, roads, and highways is everyone else's responsibility?
lc0149 4 years ago
You are really serious right? Ok, I'll bite. Health care is your responsibility because it is your body. It is your health. Not mine. The job of FDA/EPA is to make sure the food/water we get is safe to consume because it tends to cross over different countries and different states. An outbreak of E.Coli can kill a large amount of people in one fell swoop.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Part II. Transportation of goods is necessary for the GNP of our country. The ability to move between states and grow the economy is a tax payer concern and thus it falls under our responsibility to pay the taxes so that each state can flourish with goods or tourism.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
It isn't. It is your responsibility.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Why is it ok for me to pay for your food to be inspected (to make sure it is safe) but you not pay for my healthcare? Why is it ok for me to pay for your roads, bridges, and highways when I don't even use the highways and bridges you use, but you not pay for my health care?
lc0149 4 years ago
Ok, this is getting out of hand. You are being obtuse and it's deliberate. You know you eat the same food that everyone else eats. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, you do use highways and an occasional bridge. You are the beneficiary of the commerce that keeps your stores stocked with goods. It's called infrastructure.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Why is that ok dragonlord10? Dragonlord10, I'm not looking to justify why I or anyone else should not pay for our own health care. I don't even believe health care should even be made for sale. I believe it is a basic human right just as all of the other rights I have layed out here.
lc0149 4 years ago
Basic human right does not mean you have the right to slough off your bills to other people. If you have zero issue with putting yourself in 15k of credit card debt for fun toys and stuff, then don't be surprised at the 40k medical bill if you value your life.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Where does it say in the Constitution that the federal government has the authority to regulate and or fund how state and local governments operate their educational systems? Where does it say in the Constitution that you are entitled to travel on safe bridges and highways? Do you know where it says any of these things in the Constitution? Nowhere!
lc0149 4 years ago
The 10th Amendment allows for states to determine what they wish to do. However the state may request for federal assistance at anytime. All the state has to say is no.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Dragonlord10, that doesn't make any sense. Article 1, section 8 defines the role of government and commerce. That has nothing to do with bridges or highways or roads you travel on. It doesn't say anything about you having the right to travel on safe bridges, roads, or highways! I'm sorry but you are going to have to come up with something better than that! Have you read the Constitution?
lc0149 4 years ago
Before I forget, Article 1, section 8 clearly defines the role of the government in terms of regulation of commerce. Which establishes the basis for roads, bridges, etc. Try again.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Dragonlord10, that doesn't make any sense. Article 1, section 8 defines the role of government and commerce. That has nothing to do with bridges or highways or roads you travel on. lc0149 4 years ago
Wow dude....Commerce is the effective transportation of goods/services. In order to have commerce, you must have an effective method of transportation or the infrastructure to handle it. The FAA controls the airspace, the interstates are federal. States pick up the tab for everything else. Try again.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Also, the 10th Amendment may allow the states to do what they want regarding education and its funding, but that still does not change the fact the federal government in recent years HAS been involved with state educational systems. Have you not heard of NCLB? Or were you sleeping in government class when they were covering that too? The federal government has already passed a FEDERAL law ensuring that it will be involved in educational institutions within the states.

This country is already taxing the shit out of you and your tax dollars are being spent to MURDER people while 46 million Americans have no health care. $720 MILLION per day - on an illegal war. Yet you would rather throw all that money at Iraq while you complain about helping AMERICANS stay healthy? That's just sick, dude.
theprits 4 years ago
Actually what is sick is that your are willing to use force to compel taxpayers to pay your debt. The fact you would use the power of government to use whatever force necessary to seize money from another to give to you is un-american. However, since you view war as way of murder and illegal, then really, you are not an American. More like a resident of the U.S.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
You are a heartless fool. Health care is a HUMAN RIGHT. And even YOU are entitled to it.
theprits 4 years ago 2
Health care is your right. I reserve the right not to pay for it. You seem to not grasp that concept. You are more than welcome to get whatever care you want. I am not paying for it. I am not going to cough up another 3.3% of my income or my wife's for it.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
No pal, if you live in the same society. And benifit because of us, then you and your spoiled whore wife, should have to pay for it. You could show me a million facts as to why you have the right to hoard your wealth. But I wouldn't feel a bit bad about robbing you to save my or someone elses life. Life is more important than your greed.
nodeadno 4 years ago
But then again, you come across as the perfect little socialist.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Hmm...now, should the US scrap Social Security? According to your logic, yes, as it is "socialist" and "purely your responsibility". Now try to convince the American public to scrap it (like Bush in 2005). You will have a hard time doing that. Now, if you are the anti-"class warfare" crowd, my rebuttal is that class warfare is what the Chinese did in the Cultural Revolution. This is not.
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
Conclusion: There is nothing inherently wrong with socialism, just as there is nothing inherently wrong with Christianity, capitalism, etc. It's what you do with it.
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
You forgot somebody. Al Gore. Lockbox. remember? Same thing that Bush was proposing. And yes, scrap it. Personally, upon 65, you get a one million dollar payoff if you actually did something with your life for the last 40 years. Done and over with. No more 70 cents on the dollar SSI, no more raping the fund. Done deal.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
You benefit from everyone around you. Who do you think builds the streets, and makes cars. People deliver food to your area so you can eat. You think you're an island?

Do you understand that WORKING TAXPAYING AMERICANS are dying every day because they can't afford care?
mulattorus 4 years ago
Do you understand that your debt is not mine? Can you grasp that? Why are you allowed to pay your mortgage, car payment, credit cards, but your medical debt is not your responsibility? Explain that (if you can)
dragonlord10 4 years ago
And don't give me that bullshiat about the working tax paying american. I am one. I'll give you working Americans do a degree, but 6 million of them are welfare recipients from hell. taxpaying? Yeah on their smokes and booze. Sure as hell not on income. Yeah they get 1.45% on SS taken. Big whoop.

Dragonlord10, Where does it say in the Constitution that the federal government has a right to take my tax dollars and fund the military and fund an illegal war? Where does it say in the Constitution that you are entitled to clean water? Where does it say in the Constitution that you are entitled to safe food, drugs, or cosmetic items?
lc0149 4 years ago
Preamble (general welfare for your last set of questions). Article II for your war issue:
Section 2. The President shall be commander in chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, in writing, of the principal officer in each of the executive departments, upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices,

Why should you or anyone else for that matter reap the benefits of LOCAL STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS when you don't even live here?
lc0149 4 years ago
Talk to your representatives about that. There are a lot of states that get short changed on dollars paid to the Fed and dollars returned.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Oh, by the way, you still didn't answer my questions regarding public education or public transportation. Are you using the preamble in the Constitution to justify those rights too?
lc0149 4 years ago
Also, taxes for wars:Article 1, Section 8:
Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

I don't feel bad for them, they get what their ignorance will give them.

What happened to our country? What happen to the American can do spirit? How did we get to the gimme gimme generation where one man's medical debt is another's responsibility? A nation of pussies. No better than the French it seems.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Actually the French have the best health care in the world:) I would generally agree with you on taxes but health care should be a right to everyone including the poor. What happened if you couldn't afford medical care. Should we just let you die?
Dumbell99 4 years ago
omg...when did everything become a right? Where the hell is it in my Constitution? Don't confuse it with the pursuit of happiness deal. You have the freedom to choose your treatment. Free to do what you want. Paying for it on the other hand is not my job.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Where is the presence of a national bank in the Constitution? You know, the famous Jefferson-Hamilton debate? And guess what? Hamilton won that one and the national bank idea was adopted ("necessary and proper" clause; why not health care?). Now, is it forced charity to ask for you to pay taxes for roads, libraries, etc.? Think about it. Though, I do credit your intelligence for not being one of the idiot followers of Limbaugh, Hannity, etc.
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
idiot follower of limbaugh? Don't even listen to him. Roads and Libraries are needed as a matter of public interest. Your failure to pay your own medical bill is not a matter of public interest. It is your failure as a man to be successful and control your destiny.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
I hope that you never have to experience first hand the misfortune that you're criticizing. Maybe you need to, though. It would definitely change your perspective. Keep worshiping your money in the meantime.
mulattorus 4 years ago
Misfortune? Holy Christ. Dude, it's called (Get ready for it) LIFE! Shit happens. Roll with it. Change the insurance companies way of doing things. Whatever, just don;t come to me and my family demanding we tighten out belts, lose out on our vacation, our retirement because you can't handle a medical bill.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Look at this: the Hippocratic Oath taken by doctors contains the line that he will save the patient at all costs. Now, if we throw the insurance company in, the doctor is calling them to see if they will approve of your surgery. In many, many cases that forces them to break the oath. Also, universal health care is a lot cheaper than the current system (translates to more dough for you).
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
You smoke 4 packs a day and get lung cancer, that is all you. Not me. You drink to the point your liver dies, again, your problem, not mine. To force me at gunpoint to pay for those procedures is absolutely n-American. You want to be a slave to government, be my guest. I am a free man and I will do whatever it takes to not pay into this. If I have to cheat the IRS out of every nickel to get away from it. I would rather go to prison than pay another cent.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Unfortunately, we also got what their ignorance gave us.
mathguy112358 4 years ago
Thats true for sure. People suffer for others ignorance.
Dumbell99 4 years ago
You have it backwards. It is the people who live their lives as ignorant as possible while playing the race/victim cards make everyone else around them suffer.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
676 taxes the crap out of everyone jackass. Try reading it and actually understanding it. Look past the word "FREE" and read the part of "EVERYONE" will pay a higher tax. You have zero right to my money for your health care. Zero. Repeat it several times. Slam your face into a brick if need be. But get it through your goddamn fucking skull, my money is mine.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Well dude I got cancer and I never did ANYTHING to get that. I am from Canada and I was treated now I have no cancer.
Dumbell99 4 years ago
Congrads. So you didn't pay the bill, other Canadians did. That is forced charity because the government compels you to pay for someone else.

dragonlord10, Where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to be protected by the police, or that you have a right to expect firefighters to come help you put out a fire? Where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to public education? Where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to public transportation?
lc0149 4 years ago
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. (General Welfare clause). Also firefighters and police are more of a state issue. But you knew that already.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Exactly, you are entitled to all of those public services because they are declared in the preamble of the Constitution, through the concept of promoting the general welfare of the nation as a whole. The same thing can be said for healthcare. It promotes the GENERAL WELFARE of nation as a whole.
lc0149 4 years ago
I never said you could not get healthcare. What I said is, it your responsibility to take care of your bill. If you want to get heart surgery in order to live, go for it. I am not paying your bill.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Try this again: When a community forms, it was in the best interest of said community to protect it from fire, flood, and crime. Everyone agreed that it was needed and was taxed in order to provide it. Health care is provided as a service to the people of the community. Most people tend to themselves when it comes to sickness as is, so health care is more individual than societal.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
If you can use the preamble to justify your reasoning to be allowed to have access to clean water, public transportation, safe food, and public education, even though it does not SPECIFICALLY SAY in the Constitution that you are entitled to these rights, then you can also use the preamble to justify the rights of ALL Americans to have access to good quality healthcare!
lc0149 4 years ago
Now your reaching. I never said these were rights. That is the problem with you liberal types. Everything is a right. I said it was a need. Big difference between the two.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
People die because they don't have quality health care. I think that qualifies health care as a need.
mathguy112358 4 years ago 2
Everybody has a need. Question is why should I pay for your "need". Why should you demand from me more of my income and my families income to take care of you? If you are incapable of taking care of yourself, then death should be preferable, yes? It is a matter of honor. A man is a man. It is your job to take the worl by the horns and make it bend. If you cannot, then the weak shall perish.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
May I remind you AGAIN that it promotes the general welfare of the nation as whole to have a UHC system. Section 8 of Article 1 clearly lays out that Congress has the right to collect taxes to provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States. Also, police and firefighters are state issues, but they are STILL FUNDED BY STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS!
lc0149 4 years ago
Police and firefighters also receive federal funds based on the programs they need to participate in. You may think raping the taxpayers is conducive to general welfare for UHC, I don't. General welfare does not mean I hold your hand from cradle to the grave.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
If we REALLY were to follow your interpretation of the Constitution then the states would not be consider as one country. If you really wanted to get technical about it, anyone traveling to my home state that is not a native resident or isn't from my home state should not have the right or the sense of security of being protected by local authorities or the local fire department because the local police and fire department are funded by STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS!
lc0149 4 years ago
Why do you think the Constitution afforded the feds the responsibility of being the only entity to make coin? Yes, the states are separate entities under one union. However, I am entitled to the protections of law enforcement in any state as long as their is federal jurisdiction. And there is.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Meaning, if you are not a native resident of my home state, and you come to visit don't expect to be protected by the local police if you have a security issue or the local fire department if you have a fire emergency! Isn't that fair? I mean, isn't that the way it should be, according to your interpretation? My tax dollars should not be paying for anyone that is a non-resident who doesn't live in my home state!
lc0149 4 years ago
Emergency services are universal and thus cannot be denied to any person. If I cross into your state, I am no longer bound by the laws of my state but yours. If I want to go to your college, then I have residency requirements. I pay higher or lower premmys based on residency for insurance.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
You make it sound as though each US state is its own little country. I'm sorry buddy but that is not the case. We are not called the UNITED States for nothing. This is one country and we need to start working together for betterment of our country as a whole. Why should you or anyone else for that matter reap the benefits of LOCAL STATE TAXPAYER DOLLARS when you don't even live here?
lc0149 4 years ago
State laws vary from state to state and yes they are their own little deal. And I answered the rest of your question above.

To argue that health care -- a life & death issue for many -- should not be considered in the exact SAME league is LUDICROUS and ARCHAIC.
librophile 4 years ago
Obviously you never met a parking meter. No have you ever been charged by the fire department to fill up a pool. Never been charged by the police for a false 911. Look you love socialism so much, France is great. Get out.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
Do not use "it's French" as an argument. Look, does America not have something to learn from France (#1 health care system, #1 worker productivity rating, when France's unemployment is a stubborn 10%)?
Freshmanwave 4 years ago
France has a crushing tax rate. Who gives a damn about the 35 hour work week or free health care when your taxes are over 70%? Most of the wealthy French or upper middle class fled. Try again.
dragonlord10 4 years ago
The fire department does not exist to fill up pools.
mathguy112358 4 years ago
The fire department is not a federal agency. They exist on state and county dollars. Fed's give them money for forest fire issues and counter-terrorism issues. Try doing some actual research before you post.
