  • dude,,,, please make a tutorial on how you change the default clip launch section, like you have done starting 2:43... THIS IS THE SICKEST APC 40 VID! ....additional modes... sick nasty!

  • @villainskateboardco or if there is a section in the manual you can refer me to. So many thanks :)

  • Very very nice! Thank you for that.

  • Very Kool, I'm getting my new APC40, Wednesday. At $219 n free expedite shipping from Unique Audio this is a bargain!

    System: CDJ's 2000, DJM800, ELX15" Power Speakesr, Traktor Pro-2. Toshiba Satellite L675, Ikey505 Speakers Monitors.

  • Wow! that's pretty cool. Thanks for demonstrating these tweaks. Makes me want to pick up an APC40 that much sooner

  • i would actually just like the bomes project file, if you have that please let me know.

  • Could anyone explain how he is toggling between presets or templates? I'm not familiar with bome's midi translator but these presets seem to be pretty simple to create, you just gotta assign buttons to keys and/or keystrokes on the keyboard.

  • You can but this shit with the nativeKontrol thing, woulda been cool if he put that in the fuckin description

  • help meee i need to know how to do this

  • Could you make a video on how you set this up or at least post your presets?

  • next time try to talk quicker ;)

  • Hey bro, thanks for this vid. sorry to ask a simple question. RE APC as drum machine.. how exactly do you do that? if you have chance do you think you expain clearly step by step how to do that as i like the idea. I'm using the APC live on stage and like the idea of being able to drop a simple beat off the APC with out having to carry another midi controller. I aint that hot on tech stuff being more of a performer than tech guy.. thanks bro appreciate..!

  • great stuff, more plz

  • Fantastic work dude. Now how about explaining how?

  • how did you edit the bank scroll bar you didnt explain that

  • is there any way to use massive through this?

  • i had no idea you could do that. good stuff. thanks

  • Can the 8 sliders at the bottom on the APC40 be used a equalizer?

  • @stray411: You're a pimp! Ive been showing my other acp homies the untapped potential of their midi controller and this video blew their minds. i especially like the workaround for the lack of velo-sensitive pads. It took me some time to acquire a copy of bome's, as other midi routers like PD can be difficult to set up to improve functionality. Im currently working on a mode to control visualizer programs natively from ableton, so that the set doesn't become too cluttered. Thank You x 9000!

  • Hey Man, was wondering if you could shed some light on my situation. I'm being asked what i want for xmas and am wondering how to go... if i should get bromes midi, the native kontrol template, marshall laws template, max4live with the isotonik or what. Longevity, ease of use, support are main concerns. Could you give me some insight? thanks!

  • EXCELLENT VID! thanks alot for posting!

could you please do another expanding on the different "modes" you've programmed into the APC and how you switch between one another?

    thanks again! :)

  • @hardcorebeithanan He already has brosky. just check out his other vids or goes to the nativekontrol website and take a look at his apc40 templates/videos

  • Just bought it. And bought two padcontrol`s. Now will have to spend plenty of time adjusting it and remapping. I really like that cool idea with transport control like arrows up down, zoom and others. Trying not to use computer keyboard at all.

  • All the APC 40 vids on you tube are from people who had it just a vew weeks:/

  • Cool vid but Maschine is velocity sensitive!

  • Holy shit dude, hit the bong a couple times before you do these videos and slllllloooowww the fuck down.

  • my god man you talk incredibly fast

  • i have been doing somethings to my apc40 settings

    but i wanted to know

can you launch clips then go into drumrack and play drums without messing up the sounds ?

iam gonna get the CL2 TG2 VC1 pack soon cause it has some things i din't even think about

  • Hi, tankyou. How i change de modo in apc 40?

  • NICE !! keep up the good work !

  • dam that was really cool man

  • Terrific!

Same question, could/would you share this stuff?

  • GOOD VIDEO :D

  • Really really thank you!

  • I cant seem to be able to remap anything on my apc40. I try to remap the pan knobs, but nothing happens...?

  • MicroMachinesComeinCollectionsofFive!

  • @tubemech AHAH, thinkin the same thing

  • I wish youtube had a pitch controller.

  • @naanod Then you could DJ with youtube! AWSOME!

  • @naanod ??why

  • @naanod

Yeah, he speak as faster as playng apc

    kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Respond to this video... thats impressive

  • you should post a video teaching us how to do some of the more advanced stuff

  • just got live and am thinking this is a must buy cant wait to get my grubby mits on it :)

  • At 2.13 you state about the bank select buttons not making the clip veiw scroll when held.

Mine does it out of the box mate -- just press and hold.

    no remapping required :)

  • you talk too fast

  • You said the Machine drum or NI Maschine did not have velocity? At around 3:20

  • I guess that he's talking about the Roland 808 and the Elektron MachineDrum, which doesn't have the velocity...

    Peace!

  • Thanks for the tour of the Apc. I'm thinking to buy one and your help is invaluable.

  • So it's a SHIFT + one of the stop buttons that puts you into the seperate modes? Cause a shift + one of the stop buttons wouldn't do something normally, am I gettin this right?

  • Do you need to have BOMES running all the time to use this?

What if you are using MIDI Yoke?

Are you gonna post the template at some point?

  • very good customization

now seriously considering the APC as a controller!

  • Could you upload your presets for bome? Or do a tutorial on that?

    Would be great :-)

  • how did you change the bank select buttons to scroll up and down when holding arrow buttons?

  • Great video, thank you

  • the' navigational mode' ...is that something you spent time programming and assigning / remapping? Anyone know if this still works as flawlessly with Live 5? as it does 8?

  • very useful....makes the mouse even less important :-)

  • this video completed my life

  • Being able to momentarily mute and solo stuff would be really useful! As well as all the additional functionality..

Is Bome's MIDI Translator Pro expensive and difficult to program?

  • cool video man ... very helpful.

    going to buy one today!

  • Does apc40 working better with ableton-6-7 0r 8?

    Thank you..

  • @dejayclon3r

    It is made for 8

  • thanks for uploading Question!!!!

How long is the USB cable? everybody is using the apc with a laptop....i wanna use it on a desktop computer!!!!

So how long is the cable???

    pEACe

  • mrDNYL: The cable is only about 1/2 meter long, but you can use other usb cable, just buy one from a local hardware store.

  • haha yes ofcourse..you are right!!!!Thanks for responding though

    Peace out

  • I want one!

  • wow I didn't realize it could do so much. I'm totally gona get one now!

  • does anyone know the best way to hook up the apc 40 to a club system?

  • I thought the APC was only MIDI control. Meaning you wouldn't be hooking the APC to a club system but your computer.

  • OK so I think I understand it a bit more. Sounds like you know a little too. i think I'm going to get a high end allan and heath four channel mixer and then just use the apc as a midi controller only. no volume no eqing will be done with it. What you think? Suggestions?

  • What is it youre trying to do exactly?

Will you be using ableton to mix,

    or turntables?

If youre using turntables and want to use the apc40 to trigger loops, youll need to have the sound card in your laptop hooked upto one of the channels on the A&H mixer.

  • those scrolling buttons and altered mute function, do i need Bome's MIDI Translator Pro or Classic would be ok for this?

  • Youve just basically boasted about your setup, not really any instruction whatsoever. Cheers!

  • are you on win or os x. i'm gonna guess win. bome's isn't so hot on os x right about now, despite their website's offering os x compatible software.

  • yes please, explain those things more.. doesn have to be on video, simple text would do:)

i like the temporaly mute function and that scroll function, drum machine.. and everything really:)

    great vid

  • great video mate, talking too fast though)

  • great! thank you very much!

  • is this using the version of ableton that comes with the controller?

  • thanks for this!

  • Thanks you for that very useful information!

    Big Ups!

    CC

  • akaiapc40 com

  • How do I get that Bomes preset?

  • Which Daw is better for electronic msusic production?? ableton live 8 suite or logic studio 9??

  • both are good, download the ableton demo to try it, an for logic - ask a friend or go to a store to try it. Some like ableton better other likes logic.

  • Like many have said, we would really appreciate some sort of tutorial, to help those who have the apc but are not familiar with hacking via max etc. I pretty much want your exact set up (perfect for my way of working) and it allows the least amount of interaction with the mouse and keyboard that i have seen anywhere. I have spent the past week researching how you did what you did, and have not got very far.

  • wow man this is great stuff

  • Stray please check your mail here!!

  • how did you use the apc as actually midi controller for the drum rack ?

  • I've managed to reproduce the holding down scroll thing with bomes, it's long winded but works. You have to use timers which is like a loop. Note on = turn the loop on, Note off = turn off the loop. Do that for every direction. I'm using 'midi overdub' and 'metronome' as a patch up/down for selecting the chain in an instrument rack. I'm curious how Stray411 has managed to fold a group track with midi. I'm guessing it's a mackie command? Can you share the CC/note if so?

  • Nice video. Cheers for that.

  • Verry cool video, but for a non native english speaker it´s to fast spoken :)

any how thanks and please make more videos,Thanks from germany

  • more vids on apc40 plzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • oh yes i totally need the bome thingy

  • totally sweet.. thanks

  • Great stuff, just got my APC and I really want to dig deeper into its possibilities having watched your vid.:-)

  • Very interesting, this APC is very promising

  • I am very excited to see some Translator tutorials. Setting up momentary switches would be great for live performance. Some of that functionality looks way too complex for Translator, though... are you using any Max? Keep us posted! I'm subscribing to your channel.

  • How about setting up the drum pad with two sets of 4x4 (one on either side) and two horizontal sets of velocity controls up on top? This would make the Last pads unnecessary. If the velocity controls are specific to the side, you could have two velocities simultaneously.

  • Any chance of showing us how you did the mute trick? A tutorial would be great.

    Cheers

  • nice vid i was watching the max for life vid and seen that it can be used as a step sequencer i wonder if you can use groove templates from a drum machine like a roland rather than changing the groove after the midi has been recorded i also wonder how the modular design stacks against Reaktor anyway great build and fun controller

  • thanks! I was wondering about the velocity thing.

  • AKAIAPC40 COM

  • Very good review! Some kick ass ideas there!

On a side note: if i'm not wrong, you can scroll by pressing Shift then clicking on the up/down buttons.

  • Thanks for checking out the vid everybody. Im still working on the stuff I showed in the vid so stay tuned. And Ill see what I can do on Translator tutorials for the future.

@ Machinate, thanks and I personally cant wait to see what you do with this thing.

  • Fantastic quick look ,,, very keen to see you develop this more!!

  • probably a dumb question. but is there anyway to emulate the bank shift thingy without owning a apc40?

  • Sure do it with a monome, or some other capable controller ; )

  • nice vid yo! anyone know why Akai didn't bother to release any "editor" software with this? like the Vyzex editor for the MPD32?

  • Great stuff!

  • very nice.

  • being a hacker myself I'm not usually impressed by such demos but this one really hammers it home! Great work, can't wait to get my hands on my own APC.

  • GREAT could you create a tutorial on how to use the midi translator???? i would like to use it for MASCHINE

  • AKAIAPC40 COM

  • Wonderful stuff! Scroll for the cursors is something that the default is sorely missing.

I hadn't heard of Bome's before, it sounds incredibly useful! Downloading now...

Any chance of posting a tutorial or files for the Bome's remapping you did?

  • how did you set up the hold function on the direction buttons and track on/off switch please i havent got bome but i have osculator which i think does the same thing...if not i'll grab bome cause thats really important

    peace

    brian

  • Wow. Thanks for sharing. Any doubts I had about buying the APC40 have just disappeared...thanks! The drum rack mapping trick is fantastic.

  • Always love your demo. Thanks!!!

  • awesome thanks
