dude,,,, please make a tutorial on how you change the default clip launch section, like you have done starting 2:43... THIS IS THE SICKEST APC 40 VID! ....additional modes... sick nasty!
Could anyone explain how he is toggling between presets or templates? I'm not familiar with bome's midi translator but these presets seem to be pretty simple to create, you just gotta assign buttons to keys and/or keystrokes on the keyboard.
Hey bro, thanks for this vid. sorry to ask a simple question. RE APC as drum machine.. how exactly do you do that? if you have chance do you think you expain clearly step by step how to do that as i like the idea. I'm using the APC live on stage and like the idea of being able to drop a simple beat off the APC with out having to carry another midi controller. I aint that hot on tech stuff being more of a performer than tech guy.. thanks bro appreciate..!
@stray411: You're a pimp! Ive been showing my other acp homies the untapped potential of their midi controller and this video blew their minds. i especially like the workaround for the lack of velo-sensitive pads. It took me some time to acquire a copy of bome's, as other midi routers like PD can be difficult to set up to improve functionality. Im currently working on a mode to control visualizer programs natively from ableton, so that the set doesn't become too cluttered. Thank You x 9000!
Hey, just wanted to let everyone know I've left Open Labs and started a new company called Music Computing. Check out the new gear at Music Computing or click the link below for videos. - Thanks, Victor Wong
Hey Man, was wondering if you could shed some light on my situation. I'm being asked what i want for xmas and am wondering how to go... if i should get bromes midi, the native kontrol template, marshall laws template, max4live with the isotonik or what. Longevity, ease of use, support are main concerns. Could you give me some insight? thanks!
@hardcorebeithanan He already has brosky. just check out his other vids or goes to the nativekontrol website and take a look at his apc40 templates/videos
Just bought it. And bought two padcontrol`s. Now will have to spend plenty of time adjusting it and remapping. I really like that cool idea with transport control like arrows up down, zoom and others. Trying not to use computer keyboard at all.
So it's a SHIFT + one of the stop buttons that puts you into the seperate modes? Cause a shift + one of the stop buttons wouldn't do something normally, am I gettin this right?
the' navigational mode' ...is that something you spent time programming and assigning / remapping? Anyone know if this still works as flawlessly with Live 5? as it does 8?
OK so I think I understand it a bit more. Sounds like you know a little too. i think I'm going to get a high end allan and heath four channel mixer and then just use the apc as a midi controller only. no volume no eqing will be done with it. What you think? Suggestions?
If youre using turntables and want to use the apc40 to trigger loops, youll need to have the sound card in your laptop hooked upto one of the channels on the A&H mixer.
both are good, download the ableton demo to try it, an for logic - ask a friend or go to a store to try it. Some like ableton better other likes logic.
Like many have said, we would really appreciate some sort of tutorial, to help those who have the apc but are not familiar with hacking via max etc. I pretty much want your exact set up (perfect for my way of working) and it allows the least amount of interaction with the mouse and keyboard that i have seen anywhere. I have spent the past week researching how you did what you did, and have not got very far.
I've managed to reproduce the holding down scroll thing with bomes, it's long winded but works. You have to use timers which is like a loop. Note on = turn the loop on, Note off = turn off the loop. Do that for every direction. I'm using 'midi overdub' and 'metronome' as a patch up/down for selecting the chain in an instrument rack. I'm curious how Stray411 has managed to fold a group track with midi. I'm guessing it's a mackie command? Can you share the CC/note if so?
I am very excited to see some Translator tutorials. Setting up momentary switches would be great for live performance. Some of that functionality looks way too complex for Translator, though... are you using any Max? Keep us posted! I'm subscribing to your channel.
How about setting up the drum pad with two sets of 4x4 (one on either side) and two horizontal sets of velocity controls up on top? This would make the Last pads unnecessary. If the velocity controls are specific to the side, you could have two velocities simultaneously.
nice vid i was watching the max for life vid and seen that it can be used as a step sequencer i wonder if you can use groove templates from a drum machine like a roland rather than changing the groove after the midi has been recorded i also wonder how the modular design stacks against Reaktor anyway great build and fun controller
Thanks for checking out the vid everybody. Im still working on the stuff I showed in the vid so stay tuned. And Ill see what I can do on Translator tutorials for the future.

What is it youre trying to do exactly?
Will you be using ableton to mix,

If youre using turntables and want to use the apc40 to trigger loops, youll need to have the sound card in your laptop hooked upto one of the channels on the A&H mixer.
