Did you know ... that only 5% of the cars on the road in the US have a manual transmission. So it's fairly uncommon. Also, it is true that manual shift cars are the least stolen ... apparently the crooks don't know how to drive them ... LOL
How do I get my car out of second gear? I don't even know how to drive a stick! I love this song and i'm not even 25 years old. This is the type of song that stands the test of time :) It's just so cool!
@pjdaoust He is almost 13 and is saving his money now for his first car. Strangely enough he wants to look for something that can be a "fixer-upper" and in the 1960's if possible. He reads Hemmings like iit's the morning news, looking for any new cars that he might not have seen the day before. Some people find it funny that he wants to restore an older car. He really appreciates the classics and there isn't anything wrong with that in my eyes! I have a '69 Roadrunner, so we can race! LOL

@Satchmoeddie Wow that is some collection of cars! I would love to have a charger or a challenger some day. Currently I have a 440 in my Roadrunner but I do have a 426 Hemi waiting to go in it. I just want to see what the original 440 motor that came with the car is going to run first. And yes, I don't blame you for looking into something cheaper on gas, my Runner is currently not streetable unless I change it around. Race gas is well over $5.00 a gallon and it doesn't go very far these days!

The 1962-64 Rambler American was a restyled version of the original 1950-55 Nash Rambler/1955 Hudson Rambler/1958-61 Rambler American so it is a direct descendent and the black metal is identical.

I remember hearing this in the 60's . didn't hear it again until I was listening to a Dr. Demento radio show late one night several years back . Great song !
Great vid!! & the car brings back memories, too. We had a 61 4-door with the OHV engine & auto tranny ( which btw was DEFINITELY a Borg Warner), also power steering & Posi diff. Me& my brothers used to drive it in High school (late 60's & early 70's) I had a 62 Classic wagon in about 71.
As a young boy in Ozanam Home for Boys outside of Kansas City, Mo., we traveled to California in a Nash Rambler, eventually hooking up with Route 66. While the times were not the best in my life that bit of nostalgia is brought to life with this song and "I'm Going To Kansas City" since I am from Chicago.
the pictured car is not a Nash Rambler. This is a Rambler American manufactured by AMC, the company that was formed from the merger of Nash and Hudson Motor car company.
@Hlbuchanan: In addition Nash and Hudson did not actually merge. Nash-Kelvinator Corporation changed it's name to American Motors and two days later did a stock exchange for Hudson stock. Legally it was termed a "consolidation". AMC called it a merger so that people would think Hudson was an equal partner with Hudson. That is why AMC's incorporation date was 1916 and not 1954.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I first heard it aired on the Dr. Demento show back in '78 or so. Now, I am inpired to see what else you have shared. Well done.
Beep Beep is so awesome! I just learned it music class and i LOVE it my Dad had one in fact it was his first car i was suprised to learn that i am so ging to put this on my MP3
Nice car and crazy f*in song lmfao I've got a '63 American 440 that me and my wife have been tryin to get fixed up but it's hard to find the parts for it (even just generic engine parts like an oil filter) I've got the videos of our progress on my channel if you want to check it out
another thing you label yours as a Nash but on my pinks it's labeled as AMC I know amc owned nash since '59 i beleive but i was wondering if yours was too or if mine is considered a nash as well :?
In 1957, Nash and Hudson merged to form "American Motors Corporation", their divisions were AMC, Rambler, and Jeep.
I Own a 1964 Rambler Classic 770, and parts are REALLY easy to find, just look for any old jeep engine, they are exactly the same, the tranny is different though, they use a buick tranny.
Pre 1957 it was nash rambler, after, it was just rambler.
@hankeybillfred I see lol so basically what we have is nash just under a different name? and mine has a borg warner t-39 (i believe lol) that was used in 71 Chryslers as well.... and i've learned that once you start digging eventually you'll find your treasure chest lol
Might i recommend you go to w w w (dot) jalopyjournal (dot) com (slash) forum, you can learn alot about ramblers, old fords, and just about any other pre-1965 car.
@hankeybillfred lol i wasn't meaning that it was still nash, just that basically it is a nash with a different branding to it due to the merge of nash and hudson. And i truly do appreciate your help with that site! amazing information on there
I've only heard this song a few times in my 21 years but I think it's so much fun! I hope one day to teach it to my little nieces or nephews because it seems like that type of song you teach your kids. I love when they sing really fast at the end! Back when mainstream music was actually FUN to listen to.
Oh geez, this was a favorite when I was a kid, since my aunt had a Cadillac. We used to sing it all the time, I'm so glad it's here so I can share the memory with my kids!
I haven't heard this song for about 30 years reminds me of how fast i wanted to get away from my stepmother. Whosoever posted this song ty from the bottom of my heart. Wish i had it on my computer.
Great memories are brought back by this tune including remembering how much new cars cost in the 1960's. The pictured Rambler could be had for less than $2000. Even Corvettes ran about $4500. And yeah I recall gas prices being 30 to 35 cents a gallon when I was young.
Yes, I remember 25 cent gasoline when I was delivering newspapers in 1960. You could cut grass all day on just a quarters worth of gas. Send me your email and I send you a picture of an Esso sign with 28.9 a gallon price on it.
@pjdaoust Yes but you also were only making $1 per hour so that 25 cents was hard to get. Cars were cheap by todays money but they were not cheap when the average worker only made $5,000 per year. New cars were very expensive and very few people owned a new car. Cars are much cheaper today. Gasoline was also not that cheap considering the wages earned.
@pjdaoust And a 1960 quarter will still buy a gallon of gas today because the pre-1964 quarters were 90% silver and are worth $3.13 in it's silver value today.
@eric1096 Got you beat. I remember gas prices at 22 cents a gallon. And gas wars where the gas stations would try to out the others by dropping another penny off the price.
ZOMGosh I can't believe it. I tortured my teenage sisters with this record as a small child. They still have nightmares of a little voice yelling at them - beep beep, beep beep, his horn went beep beep beep. No Elvis for you ;)
Been lookin' for this song for years. One of the classic songs from my childhood. Those were great times. Something to play for the grandkids. They'll get a kick out this.
The song is called "Beep Beep"

I am only 15 and this song brings back memories. My dad would play this and honk the horn. Back then he was funny, not so much anymore.

My aunt had a Rambler American like that,a red convertable. She traded it in on a 1965 Olds Cutlass.

Nice car and crazy f*in song lmfao I've got a '63 American 440 that me and my wife have been tryin to get fixed up but it's hard to find the parts for it (even just generic engine parts like an oil filter) I've got the videos of our progress on my channel if you want to check it out
another thing you label yours as a Nash but on my pinks it's labeled as AMC I know amc owned nash since '59 i beleive but i was wondering if yours was too or if mine is considered a nash as well :?
d3dreaper 1 year ago
@d3dreaper To clarify..
Pre 1957 it was nash rambler, after, it was just rambler.
hankeybillfred 1 year ago
@hankeybillfred I see lol so basically what we have is nash just under a different name? and mine has a borg warner t-39 (i believe lol) that was used in 71 Chryslers as well.... and i've learned that once you start digging eventually you'll find your treasure chest lol
d3dreaper 1 year ago
@d3dreaper Its an AMC.
Pre 57, Nash
57 or after, its AMC.
Might i recommend you go to w w w (dot) jalopyjournal (dot) com (slash) forum, you can learn alot about ramblers, old fords, and just about any other pre-1965 car.
hankeybillfred 1 year ago
@hankeybillfred lol i wasn't meaning that it was still nash, just that basically it is a nash with a different branding to it due to the merge of nash and hudson. And i truly do appreciate your help with that site! amazing information on there

I've only heard this song a few times in my 21 years but I think it's so much fun! I hope one day to teach it to my little nieces or nephews because it seems like that type of song you teach your kids. I love when they sing really fast at the end! Back when mainstream music was actually FUN to listen to.

Great memories are brought back by this tune including remembering how much new cars cost in the 1960's. The pictured Rambler could be had for less than $2000. Even Corvettes ran about $4500. And yeah I recall gas prices being 30 to 35 cents a gallon when I was young.
eric1096 2 years ago 5
Yes, I remember 25 cent gasoline when I was delivering newspapers in 1960. You could cut grass all day on just a quarters worth of gas. Send me your email and I send you a picture of an Esso sign with 28.9 a gallon price on it.
pjdaoust 2 years ago 4
@pjdaoust Yes but you also were only making $1 per hour so that 25 cents was hard to get. Cars were cheap by todays money but they were not cheap when the average worker only made $5,000 per year. New cars were very expensive and very few people owned a new car. Cars are much cheaper today. Gasoline was also not that cheap considering the wages earned.
kyclay58 1 year ago
@pjdaoust And a 1960 quarter will still buy a gallon of gas today because the pre-1964 quarters were 90% silver and are worth $3.13 in it's silver value today.
idnotego 1 year ago
@eric1096 Got you beat. I remember gas prices at 22 cents a gallon. And gas wars where the gas stations would try to out the others by dropping another penny off the price.

ZOMGosh I can't believe it. I tortured my teenage sisters with this record as a small child. They still have nightmares of a little voice yelling at them - beep beep, beep beep, his horn went beep beep beep. No Elvis for you ;)
