  • I can actually feel her back when its doing a spasm and its rock hard...

  • @jardineninja I'd love to see what I can do for her. I do a neuro integrative technique that may be able to break patterns causing her to be in such spasm in various positions. I'd bring her to the office if you can.

  • Hey doc,

My wife has been having really bad lower back spasms. She has gone to the chiropractor several times, the doctor, and massage therapists. Nothing seems to work for her. She does exercises to stretch out and strengthen lower back and abs, Anything you recommend? She gets pain when she is sitting. I have my CSCS and undergraduate in exercise science and so does she so its not like we are clueless...but stuff isn't working..and she is coming up on a year of this.

  • LOVE that first stretch! It made my back feel better immediately! Doing that one everyday!!

  • @lori0479 Glad you liked it!!!!

  • from Canada ...your videos are great.....thank you.

  • @awsevenn Glad you like! Thank you!

  • hi , that treatment was good . but my mom has extreme pain in lower back she even cant pick a thing from ground . please tell me what to do ..

    Thanks !!!

  • @habibharoon22 Please have her examined by a chiropractor who know what the are doing. It would be impossible to diagnose her over a computer.

  • I've got horrible piriformis syndrome which is a result of a bad hamstring injury that was never addressed properly. While these stretches help, how can one finally rid themselves of the piriformis syndrome? I've spent 10's of thousands of dollars in the last 6 years, chasing the pain. Had all modalities of care, chiropractic, accupuncture and pressure, massage, regular orthopedic docs etc. I just want the darn piriformis muscle to stop spasming. Thoughts?

  • @k9mom007 Sounds like you have tried many of the modalities I would recommend. It may be something you are doing, positional, sitting, sleeping, or another activity. Try to figure that out, or try other chiro's, acupuncturists, and massage therapists. There are many techniques out there, and some are better than others. Don't give up, there is a solution. I am happy to see if I can help, we are located in Parkland FL. 954-340-7545

  • @healthybackdoc I appreciate your reply. I haven't given up, but it's been 6 long years. And I'm about broke! Western medicine doctors have the attitude of "if they can't see it on film, it must not exist". It's frustrating and condescending. I'm trying a new massage therapist tomorrow. They need to LISTEN to the patient. I KNOW what the problem is, I just don't know how to fix it. In the 6 years I've been trying to get help, I've had 2 people actually listen to me,

  • thumbs up if you in pain :'/

  • I wish this worked properly for me. The exercises briefly relieved some pain but it didn't go away completely.

  • @SuperReversedMusic Try going to a chiropractor for lasting correction and relief.

  • @healthybackdoc

I am getting accapuncture, its free here like all medical treatments, when they privatise things go wrong due to capitalism, but I digress.

I feel like I have been stabbed in the spine live kidneys etc, all my diaphragm area and my neck.

I have had many car crashes etc, does this work for whiplash also?

  • Thanx Dr. Joseph, i am doing the exercises, but i have prob in my back that in the upper right side of my back one of my vein is pulled due to carrying heavy weight with only right hand and this is from last three years, now days m suffering with so much pain, plz suggest any exercise for my prob, the pain is only right back side from almost neck to lower back. thanks & Regards...

  • @mandeep47333 It would be unfair to you, or possibly dangerous for me to recommend a specific stretch or exercise without knowing exactly what is wrong with your back. I would recommend an examination, and then a more accurate recommendation can be made. call us at 954.340.7545

  • Amazing!! I often get lower back spasms due to L4/L5 herniated disk. I've tried many exercises but nothing helps. I would typically ended up staying in bed for at least five days. Had a spasm today and I stumbled upon your video. I tried the first crossed legged exercise and bingo! the spasm was gone instantly. Had 3 spasms today and every single time, the exercise worked like a charm.

Please post more videos to help people with L4/L5 herniated disk condition.

    Thank you!!!

  • @kgilani Glad we could help you!

  • When I was getting off a cruise ship with my aunt she was getting severe spasms in her back being that she's overweight because she is diabetic and smokes she experienced spasms because she does ver very little exercise

  • hey when i do the stretch for the abdomens, it feels like somethings digging into my lower back :S

  • @DundrMifflin Then, don't do that, and have an examination by a chiropractor who knows what they are doing. You may have one of several issues that can cause that type of pain.

  • i feel much better! thanks man.

  • Thank You so Much!

  • hey just wanted to say that I hurt my back this weekend lifting some heavy furniture, and to make it even worst I forced the pain and played football. As you can imagine the results were really bad, the other day I couldn't even walk or get up from bed. So I did some of these exercises and I have to say it really helped a lot! thanks doc

  • Oh, wow! Thanks, doctor and thank you, internet! ;)

  • I was always having pain in my lower back and i went to a well known physio and he told me my "hips were locked" and thats what was causing the pain and he advised me to do these stretches especially the one lying on your back and crossing one leg over the other. This worked greatly but as i was in the Gym yesterday I got a sharp pain in my back and within minutes I couldnt move my back. Went to the doctors straight away and she told me my back was in a complete spasm. Im in alot of pain.. Help!

  • @BzgTrueno You may have a disc issue, or just a severe spasm. I would find a good chiropractor in your area and see them. are you in or near Parkland FL? If so I would be happy to help you with your back pain.

    Dr. Joseph Bogart

  • @healthybackdoc Im a long way away ha. Im actually from Ireland :) Im on medication for the pain so maybe i should see if it occurs again after it stops?

  • @BzgTrueno See if you can find a good chiropractor over there!!!

  • I broke my talebone when I was younger. I could leg press well over 400 IBS, and that shit dropped me down. I could barely do over half of what I did. This stuff REALLY helped me out. GOod thing the talebone doesn't really hurt as much now.

  • Dear Sir, i would like to share this information with you and kindly give me your feedback about it, first of all i didn't complain of any lower back pain before but one day i was sitting down on the edge of the mattress and bouncing up and down, next morning i had strong lower back pain, so i went to doctor and take some medicine, now when i do this exercise i feel no pain and relief but why i always feel uncomfortable when i set down or when i try to sleep ?why could have happened? Pls advice

  • @SmashinGoo Hard to say without examining you to determine the true cause, I would be happy to, or I could refer you to someone who could depending on your location

  • @healthybackdoc currently i work in UAE which is very hard to get medical attention it is so expensive, i can stand for long period of time i don't not feel numbness in my feet, but my lower back is paining most of the time specially at night, im i side sleeper but now i can't sleep on my side because my hips paining as well at night like im sleeping on the ground, is this might be disc problem?? that my concern because if it is ? that mean im going to suffer for rest of my life

  • @SmashinGoo I wish I knew, but there are many possible reasons. I recommend a complete examination to determine your exact issue, and the best way to correct it.

  • OMG I'm 35 years old always felt great have tried to stay fit but all of a sudden while I was doing some chores and I couldn't bend from the waist down... I looked up How to get rid of lower back pain and you were the first to pop up

  • @KrookedSk8Chic Thanks, glad to hear that!

  • When I'm lying down on my back I think that the back muscles or sacrum ones spasm plus i feel instability of the si joint what exrecises can i do? please help me

  • @angelsever See a chiropractor!!!

  • @healthybackdoc hello do you think that a pt wouldn't help me? i was seen today by a pain doc he think the muscles of my lower back are weak but not a word about the si joint feeling of instability plus a burning sensation in the sacrum area. what doc can diagnose anyway instability of the si joint???

  • I have severe lumbar spasms. It is so severe that I am not able to walk for even 20 secs and my pain doesn't seem to subside with medication (NSAID's and Muscle Relaxants). My doctor said it is severe muscle spasms, induced not by inflammation and has put me on pain killers. Please note: I get this pain only when I walk, otherwise I feel no pain when I do YOGA, athletic stretching or when I sit or stand. Can you tell me if I can do these stretches right now without aggravating it even more?

  • @murali24580 Hard to say without examining you. I would try them gently and carefully. If they create more pain, STOP!!!

I would also seek a good chiropractor. Where are you? I might know someone good near you. We are in Parkland FL, I would love to help.

  • @healthybackdoc Thanks for the reply doctor. I live in Chennai, India. I got an MRI done recently and results showed a disc bulge in L3-4 and L4-5. I have been advised Ketoprofen and Thiocolchicoside tablets for 5 days. My doctor has advised me to undertake Pelvic Traction for 7 days for spinal decompression. Would that help?. Can I also do stretching exercises for a disc bulge at home. I read that the Pelvic Tilt and Cobra Pose are very good for the posterior disc bulge. Please advise me?

  • @murali24580 WEED WILL HELP THAT I PROMISE OR AT LEAST SOOTH THE PAIN!!!

  • I've been an athlete all my life and specifically have worked out with weights for 25 years, inluding powerlifting. I started doing yoga stretches about 3 years ago but the stretches in this video are not only new to me, they are amazingly effective from the first time you try them. Great contribution to health Doc.

  • @philandjoelle Thank you!!

  • Hey great videos Doc. im a very active 28 yrs old guy, and just threw my back out snowboarding 2 weeks ago to where I couldnt even stand. I've been going to the chiro everyday. Yesterday was finally the first day I could walk standing straight up with only moderate pain. Im going to start doing these stretches on a regular basis. hopefully I can get well before this snowboarding season is over.

  • @nyinfamous2k2 glad to hear you doing a bit better. Hang in there, healing takes time!

  • @healthybackdoc

Yup every day is a little better, slowly but surely, the stretching is definitely helping. Although is has shown me how not flexable I am. The one where you put your leg horizontal, reach through and pull your knee to your chest. I can barely put my leg in that position, definitely feeling the stretch but its a ruff one lol thanks doc

  • thank you so much .. I am gonna do these everyday....I need iit.. can you tell me how many reps of each?

  • @mdjd5683 not set amount, try a few, and if you feel good do a few more. No need to do tons of reps, just take you time, and do them slow and controlled.

    best of luck.

  • thank you so much .. I am gonna do these everyday....I need iit.. can you tell me how many reps of each?

  • Just recovering from a pulled muscle (lower back) digging snow last Friday. Was due to start a new job today with Barclays, and back prevented. Thanks for these 1st one gave me instant relief!

  • i've never had back pain before, but while i was doing back squats at the gym today i got terrible lower back pain and had to cut my workout short. any idea why this may have happened?

  • @bvalks Could be a number of things. Hard to say without an complete evaluation. I'd be happy to help if you are local. our number is 954-340-7545. • but it does mean sir is this any kind of excersice

  • @deepakverma213 I'd try what you see in the video, if pain worsens or continues, seek medical / chiropractic help. Without examining you, that is all I can offer. Best of luck.

  • hi Mr bogart i am deepak from india your video is really helpfull to reduse lower back pain but i have a query once i was working in gym i put extra weight and i heard a sound from my back and it happend one year before and still iam suffer with thid deadly pain i cant sleep cant stand for long time cant sit . will you plz tell me what should i do. i have x rays everything but there is nothing in those x rays i hope u will revert on this

  • aye doc..me and my bro are having a back spasm from playing basketball and his pain was all the way through his leg...what should he do to get rid of it...is that bad?as of now he stop playing basketball and try not to stress his muscle...but the worst thing is...he work 12hrs shift without sitting and that could be a big problem...it will take awhile to get rid of his pain...is using some padding under his foot will help?thanks for sharing this video btw...this is what we need...God bless!

  • Sorry, but I cannot say without seeing what is wrong with you or your brother. I recommend having a complete exam, and possibly X-rays to determine what is the true cause of his problem. Sounds like sciatica, but even that can have many causes ranging from disc herniation, to muscle pull, to cancer. I do not want to mislead you without knowing what is truly wrong. As for orthotics, they may help.

Best of luck, I am happy to help if you live in south Florida, I am in Parkland. 954-340-7545

  • @invinvinvinv You are welcome very much! ;-)

  • i love the exercises are there any more that i can turn into a routine i been having lower back pain for close to 20 years.

  • @wesdarth I'll put one out soon, keep tuned. thanks, glad they help!

  • The 2 first really helped thank you!!!

  • @Bubben101

Glad I can help, that's what I love to do!!!

    Best Wishes!

  • hey shaniel111 im justlike you

  • well i had a pulled muscle so the doctor gave me muscle relaxers and pain killers, but after i still was in pain (not as much as before) but still could go on with my everyday activities(with the exception of lift weights) so i was wondering if these activites are good for me, im pretty sure its still just really sore or just cramped up im 15 and this occoured from over excercising thanks!

  • @shaniel111 I'd get checked by a chiropractor. They are better trained to determine if it is just a muscle, or if it is something more serious. Without an examination it is impossible to say if these stretches are a good idea. Try them at your own risk, and see if they help, if not, STOP!

  • Could be many factors, some can be serious. If it is a stretching pain, I would not be too concerned, If it is s sharp pain, then it may be something more seriously wrong. Get a complete examination from a good chiropractor. they can rule out any problems you may be suffering with. It might be an alignment issue, which is what chiro's are experts in correcting.

  • I couldn't do the last exercise,I'm fit but it hurts?

  • where does it hurt? maybe you're forcing it too much?

  • me thinks to remember

  • Glad to hear that madinaxlovee! Please share this video with people you know so I can help more people! Check out my other vids too! All of them can be very helpful to get rid of common aches and pains. Be well!

  • @healthybackdoc your glute stretch is dangerous for the knee if not craddled. to be honest just sitting on a bench; hands over head, and lean foward is more effective as safer. I think Dr's need to humble there " medicine practices" before they casue more damage.

  • @vitinoaskedwhy - - If you use enough force to hurt your knee doing the glute stretch you are doing it wrong. If you have a pre-existing knee injury, than anything you do can aggravate it including standing too long. this stretch can and has helped many people. As always use caution and sound judgment before attempting any stretch or exercise.

  • Thank you SO freaking much. I had some baaad muscle spams yesterday morning and they seemed to feel better whn i walked so i walked a couple miles on the treadmill -BIG mistake- and it felt sooo much better. i went to bed and i felt fine! when i woke up though, the pain was EXCRUCIATING. i couldnt even sit to go to the bathroom, no painrelivers or anti inflamitories helped but these excercises did! they hurt a little at first but now its fine. hopefully for good this time!

  • Without a proper examination, it is too hard to tell. Could be many things. Muscles, discs, alignment, combination of them. Proper treatment would be dictated by examination outcomes. Sorry to be so vague, but I do not want you to waste time or money on something that may or may not help you. what city / state are you in? Perhaps I can find someone near you to do a complete evaluation.

  • Sweet Video, i have lower back pain, and when i at the gym lifting weights it really hurts, i'm not sure if this is my spine, or my actually lower back muscles. what do you recommend?
