  • and it is a social dance and is open to the public.

  • if you havent notice the main people that get mad and what not about this do the EXACT same thing and no has respect. Yeah when i do take part i tell the men whoever is recording not to because i ave more respect for that even though "hopis" say im Navajo. SO WHAT yes i am but if you notice half hopis are the ones that cover "full bloods" all the time...so dont complain!

  • cool

  • peace from mississippi.

  • While people are recording and posting ceremonies which the Hopis have asked not to be recorded, one can never take away, copy, or realize the Spirit of the Hopi people. Bless you all!

  • cool I am doing a state report on Arizona and we have to pick an Indian group from the state and write about it i picked the Hopi

  • flagged this

  • I agree its VERY WRONG to record any ceremony regardless of religion, but this is the type of world we live in now a days I guess. Technology is everywhere, plus cell phones are used by everyone.

  • hey, i also agree. we are getting mad cause other people record and take pictures of our dances..but here we are putting then on youtube for the world to see..

so think about what you put on. and i never seen this type of dance before

  • my brothers i agree.this is wrong.i was with you and i did not even take a note one but in my heart.i gave up my wood stone of prophesy to hopi traditional.it resides in old oraibi.then i hear the pitoni corner tablet is not wanted.i should toss it out then if i posses it in my very hands?what i have reveals me as well as MASAU's stone that is at home again with the hopi.the old chief's home has sticks that are a sign on the moon and the earth.i was he ,#246.

  • I thought it was disrepectfull recording Hopi ceromonies ?????

  • I am a little surprised that someone filmed this since it is not supposed to happen.

  • @bedwardl CHRIST WITH A CRUTCH WHINE TO U TUBE

  • ii see ur tan lines on ur feet.. nasty ass!! Jp haha

  • PS - I wish the Hopi people who post would stop saying that kachina dances are more sacred. Everything in Hopi is equal because they all have their time and places on the Hopi calendar.

  • Kachina dances are religious and these dances on the video are social, meaning to meet in a more festive place. They are both Hopi culture, But, Kachina dances represent prayers to our creator for the continued blessing of our peoples existence.

  • @bedwardl hi,no videos should be allowed.i am sorry i was not believed even with signs but i am him.

  • Dang all, that Video is still out there. My ma says Hopi Cultural Preservation office is aware of that video and are trying to have it removed.

  • @tlo1621 what video is that?

  • Same here, I was checked the net and saw this video kinda shocked , I am not Hopi but lived at Hopi for 5 years and I must say I respect the Hopi People because of their dances and I was treated very good by the Hopi People and liked living there, they took me in and showed me alot about their tribe.

    don't worry be HOPI !!!

  • cool

  • Yeah, what is the name of the video?

  • heyy hopikid4 wher iz disz video at??

  • people out home dont have no respect at all... kachina dances r way important that u never record them.... thats y they say 'no non natives can come and watch cuz its a tradition to us and nobody should know really.... im from 1st mesa

  • Comment removed

  • Actually no cause all the songs from the katsinas and the songs the men sing in social dances is suppose to bring rain...also if the girls dance really hard they bring the rain too.

  • bitch, need to mind your own buissness.wtf. that's my grandfathers shit, go cry to him. who iz this bitch anywaz.

  • PS- I'm talking about the kachina video that hopikid4 was talking about. Very mad about that video.

  • isn't it like bad to video tape a dance?

    but either way good job.

  • Regardless the council has forbid it the elders of the tribe have said no

  • to all of u- jus as tlo1621 said these dances are sacred!!! but i still think that the kachina dances r more sacred! growin up in polacca on 1st mesa in tewa i kno wat 2 do n wat not 2 do!!! but if u guys want 2 c sumtin dat is very rong! let me tell u wat it is!!!!!! on youtube dere is a video about kachinas n in da video there is a short time where they show the kachinas dancing!!!!!!!! it shows the uncle soyoko! and alot of the whippers!

  • damn thats very wrong n its the like meanits ones

  • i just saw the freakn video n i was shocked i am very MAD

  • I just found this video. It's f''d up. You know that no Hopi would ever record what was in those videos. There was wu'chim and the other one was 'Bean Dance' in Hotevilla because there was the He'he wuhti in it. Looks like the kiva by my house, and looks like someone was video taping in secret because the video was jumpy. Probably a pahana. We need to get that video off of You Tube.

  • Hey umm can you tell m what this video is under??? Or the name ofte vido your talking about? Thx

  • Im from Hotevilla

  • Yes it is a social dance and public, as is a kachina dance. A social dance is as 'sacred' as a kachina dance bc there is purpose behind the dance. Hopi's are more lenient with social dances than kachina, however if Myself or my family records a social dance it is for private viewing, not for the world to see. Hopi are secretive people so why post this? If people are interested in learing the culture then come to the rez. PS you cannot compare this to a country dance.

  • I agree with your comment

  • i agree with you . these are upper moenkopi people thats why they have no respect for anything.

  • sorry but no respect to you but lower village is not the same either

  • To Holyfell- yes i am hopi; yes this is a social dance but what gives you or anyone elese the right to videotape any ceremony; do you have permission to videotape this? I bet not.

  • You don't need permission to tape social dances, just like a person doesn't need permission to tape a country dance. What village are you from? I am Hopi too from Polacca, I grew up out there. I see nothing wrong with this.

  • Moenkopi...

    i was there

  • I WAS IN THERE!! DANCIN'

  • me to but I was on the other side

  • This video should have never been posted. Dont you have any respect for yourself nonetheless for your culture. This is a sacred ceremony like all other hopi cermeonies. You must not have been educated properly about your culture or maybe you are not Hopi.

    Hopi from NM

  • If you are a Hopi then you know this a social dance and that it's open to the public. This is not considered a "sacred" dance in the sense that it has to be closed to the public.
