This makes me feel great, my 95 doesn't even have airbags. When I got my license 5 years ago I rear ended a truck doing 30 and totaled it out. I got busted up pretty bad because my seatbelt didn't lock. As for my jeep, the front end got wrapped around my 4.0 engine and the sides got crumpled. But she started right up and I drove it 100 feet to the shoulder. She's all better now, with a shiny new paint job, I'll have my jeep until I give it to my kid, just like when my dad handed me the keys.

My parents got me an 89 jeep wrangler for x-mas last year and i've been in 3 accidents cuased by other drivers. Their new cars got messed up with all there "hard Plastics" and crap. My car is still going. I love my car and if i die in it so be it. If its your time to go no fancy volvo or VW is gonn save you.

Jeep Wranglers are not safe at all.

The roll bars are basically useless because they always cave in during rollovers and not to mention, none of the Jeep Wranglers have side impact airbags.

If you want something that performs like a Jeep, look into getting a Range Rover or a Mercedes-Benz G. Way more safer and more luxury.

we own an ML320 and the damn thing rocks offroad. All while sucking a gallon of premium fuel every 14-15 miles, but what I dont get it that extreme flex I get out of my wrangler with solid axles, short wheel base, Please, just leave the benze and range rover where it belongs the garage

for the record, 2007 + Jeep Wranglers have optional side air bags, the SPREADER bars cave in (NOT the rollbar) but still maintain a head space, if the rollbar itself caves in, NO SUV would fair better.

I drive a jeep and practice defensive driving to avoid wrecks. My rule of thumb is EVERY car around you isnt paying attention, so you must pay that much more attention to your surroundings.

I was in an accident at 45MPH, side impact, right rear passenger door (Unlimited/4dr) Sahara. The front passenger was saved by side impact air bag, and while very shaken, I was relatively fine. My eyes were messed up for a while due to sheer jar effect of the impact. Point is, I was T-Boned by a 4500lbs Ford F150 Off-Road at 45MPH, was tossed ~40 feet, and rolled 4 times. The Hard top was shattered, and strewn around the scene. My passenger and I lucky, as they say.

i crashed my 93 wrangler without the doors head on at 40 mph against a Expedition and i was fine, little shaken up but didn't suffer any fractures or broken bones. I guess that its safer head on without the doors than with them on.. lol the only damage mine had was a broken motor mount because the engine pulled forward and a damaged fender and bumper, nothing like the damage on the video.

Acceptable when the dummy driving 10 inches from the steering wheel!! Who sits that close? In my jeep My shoulder is in line with the roll bar, back about 1 foot from where this dfummy is placed, I'd fare much better in the front crash just by sitting back further. Side, maybe not.

It would be nice to see a test with an object that is not stationary or weighs less than 5000lbs. I have a feeling that if a 5000lb wrangler hit almost any car on the road you would be safe in saying that it would win. Strap an extra 2500lbs on any high rated car and run it into a wall and the rating will drop.
