@Crowder257 it is fun! Really fun, but unfortunately my kindergarten teacher and the school principal didn't think it was very fun that I regaled my classmates out on the playground with a bump and grind version of it that brought down the house. (or as much as five year olds can cheer anyway). Yep, I got sent home and spanked. (probably more for getting caught then for the public show!)
@PhoenixaSol A pity you got into trouble. I also got into trouble over the words of a song - "You've Got Bags Around Your Eyeballs and You're Dressed In Skidder White." I repeated these words to a neighbour's daughter and got a good telling off from my parents!" I think we should perhaps steer clear of Chris Barber's "I'll Be Glad When You're Dead You Rascal You!" I don't think any of these songs are meant to offend.
@Crowder257 aw, you too? They didn't much care for my rousing version of "roll me over in the clover" either. I do have a feeling that when I busted out with a soft shoe to "Irish Ballad" by Tom Lehrer that counseling was suggested. Geez, 30 years before they'd have loved all these antics in the local saloon. by the way, it's a kick to be doing a pole dance in secondlife to this great tune Hard Hearted Hannah, or a fan dance!
hahahaha, I guess the kindergarten teacher and school principal knew that they couldn't regale anyone as good as you. When I was younger I was actually encouraged to to sing and dance whatever I wanted or liked, even though it may not have been age appropriate. Of course I don't mean that I was stripping or singing foul worded music, but something like "hard hearted hannah", without a second thought. What also caught my attention from your story is that you were sent home! what prudes.
I agree, Dorothy Provine was so good in the Roaring Twenties. I wish they would show them on TV again. I am pleased that you enjoyed Hard Hearted Hannah - thank you for your comments.
I've never forgotten these tunes from my youth. I'm glad they are as good (actually better) that I remember them. It brings back many great memories. She was unforgettable - at least to me- in the Roaring Twenties. Thank you!
I hijacked my moms The Roaring 20's LP when I was 13 or 14. This song was my favorite of the whole album. I still have the record to this day (mom finally gave it to me lol). Thanks for uploading this!
We had this on a 33rpm vinyl, and I've not heard it since around 1968, thank you sooo much for posting it, you rock!!
