  • I wish he really HAD bullied her! That racist hypocrite, Sotomayor, needed to be bullied!

  • Judge Sotomayor, U ROCK!!!!!!!

  • 1:52 to 2:02 sotomayor sounds like a robot. she doesn't sound human. what is up with her voice? is she human or is she a robot?

  • She deserved worse in my opinion. She bullies people a lot as a judge so she deserves a taste of her own medicine.

  • The way she just remains there like a giant mountain while this little racist maggot nips at her reminds me of malcolm x's interview on city desk.

  • Church burnings, lynchings and racial dead squads are still fresh in the social consciousness of America. Only those who do not understand the gravity of those crimes has a problem understanding why American society today accepts that double standard. Hopefully a time will come when those social wounds will heal, and the double standard will no longer be accepted. Of course, by that time it will not be necessary since we will have true equality.

You say that "White males did not go out of their

  • contributions made by individuals from other cultures or ethnic groups.

Now, to your comments, Is there a double standard? Yes there is. Is it fair? of course not. But right now there isn't much we can do about it because just about 60 years ago, barely one generation ago, a minority of white men in the southern US still took it upon themselves to make sure that minorities, specially black people, knew their proper place in society, which was second class citizens or worse. Church burnings,

  • made by non-whites, the latter contyributions by other individuals, (who happened to be white europeans), may not have happenend. Some people forget that discoveries and advancement, scientific or otherwise, doesn't happen in a vacum. Generally, there is foundational work already done which serves as a starting point for the new step in advancement. Some - specially those who favor a white supremacy ideology - try to re-interpret history ignoring the contributions made by other cultures or

  • Cabernet5,

Please read my comments in the context they were made. I was responding to comments presenting an ideology that can be described as supporting White Supremacy, and for those individuals, Jews are not white.

In that ligth my comments made perfect sense. I'm not denying the contributions made by white men, the way taoofmichael denied the contributions made by all other ethnic, national, or cultural groups. I do point out that without those foundational advancements made by non-whites,

  • Although I don't agree with all of Sotomayor's positions, she represents an element of diversity that the Supreme Court is lacking and needs, especially with the changing landscape of American reality.

  • landscape?......well yeah kick her fat ass all over it. we don't need the racist bitch

  • but it was never, nor is it now, their sole providence. What some, and I emphasize, some white male Christians were really good at was at keeping all other groups from attaining real economic, social, and politic power. But that is changing too. That's why a white Christian male can't make the kind of comment Sotomayor made. It implies the kind of prejudice and abuse our society has now recognized for what it really is and rightfully rejected. The same kind of prejudice your comment implies.

  • Do you not see the double standard? so in this post-racial age you herald, she can say these things, but the evil white male cannot?

and please, refrain from smearing feces on paper and calling it reason, it abuses the senses and insults logic. White males did not go out of their way to oppress people, when it happened it occurred as a side effect of their other goals.

by saying what you said, you basically imply that white men are inherently evil. Should we then wipe them out?

  • not by Jews (commerce, banking, physics), Chinese (gun powder, ancient machines), Arabs (algebra, calculus, chess, philosophy), African-Americans (astrophysics, astronomy, literature, medicine), or women (too many to mention). An honest reading of history (not a reading of history through the lens of ideology) and of today's advancements in diverse fields shows that is not the case. Yes, white Christian males made great contributions to advancements in many fields, but it was never,

  • er i , don't mean to be priggish, but jews are commonly considered "white".

and you are attempting to quantify the achievements of these peoples by merely counting the amount of nouns you can associate with them.

for example, (by implication) you equate the (relatively) primitive algebra of babylonians with that of Descartes, Arabian calculus to that of Newton. its an unfair comparison, the allusion talks of breadth, not of depth (which i s more readily quantifiable).

  • also, Kukri05, you are confusedly mixing conceptions of race and nationality. the minorites you cite are either national groups (african americans) or ethnicities. even with your argument ,the argument that white males contributed most to human advancement is still unfazed, as you neglected to note the contribution of blacks (in africa), other dark caucasians (indians, turks), non-chinese mongoloids, etc.

please, try to come up with a comparison in volume, regarding contribution to advancement

  • taoofmichael

I'll assume that you re serious. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but I think your position is one that is easy to present but impossible to prove. Mainly because, as Jesus said, "by their fruits you will know them". In other words, if white Christian males are superior, then the proof is in the results. In that case the world's greatest advancements, scientific, social, literary, artistic, and otherwise were and are still been made by white Christian males, not Jews

  • Isnt Jeff Sessions a known racist?

  • Where is the bullying? What senator Graham said actually make sense. I'm Puertorican and I think Sotomayor will be great addition to the Court, but if a white male made that comment people through out the country would be asking for his resignation. I understand what she was trying to say, so to me her comments are not a big deal. But graham is right, it would take a lot of spin to save the political career of a white male who made the kind of a comment.

  • And why would it be grotesquely inappropriate for a white Christan male to say that?

It would be pathetic, because it is one of the cornerstone realities of American life, and has been since the beginning, that white Christian males are superior to all other humans.

To SAY IT would be grotesque. Almost like saying "beautiful women are more desirable than ugly women."

  • Linda Graham. The guy looks like an old lesbian. Where's his girlfriend Bungler McCain?

  • Right, Graham -- let's pretend it's just a wash. Let's pretend that white men don't control the entire developed world. That way, we can make it look like you're just a dew-eyed innocent in the same boots as Sotomayor (instead of the pampered, sheltered asshole you really are).

Sorry, but when you have a death grip on the planet both physically and financially, you can't pretend that your lens is the same as those on the ground. What Sotomayor said was not racism, it was raw perception.

  • Lindsey Graham lecturing Sotomayor on racial matters. That is truly funny as well as arrogant. By the way, where is the diversity on this committee? All I've seen is old, white males. I haven't seen a minority or woman on this committee questioning Sotomayor. Did I miss it or is it a case of old, white males with the richness of their experience making better decisions than Latinas, women, and other minorities?

  • US soldier COOK does not to deploy

Obama can't order him to war..because

Obama is not a us Citizen and is committing war crimes.

He is also committing crimes against

    US. Constitution.

    Sotomayor should protect US constitution

as should the rest of US supreme court judges.

  • wow he couldnt have said it any better, if a white guy said he could come up with better conclusions than a latino or black or whatever.. his ass would have been gone and made front page of every newspaper in the country... anyways its a stupid comment. and to some comments that I've read, people obviously have built up Animosity towards whites.. dont hate

  • i don't c wut da big deal is! sotomayor is latina & has been poor, lived in poverty and rubbed elbows with minorities who were in the same situation. so y wouldn't she make better judgements concerning minorities than a whiteman? he who knows absolutely nothing about our stuggle and who we are. a whiteman who's only knowledge of us is when he accidentally turns the tv to BET. the republican party is an endangered species, and they c the end. their way of thinking is a relic of the past.

  • Again, you have a completely distorted concept of reality - it must be the weed you mentioned in another post!

Most of us conservative republicans grew up in the poor to middle-class neighborhoods and count all kinds of minorities as our friends.

Maybe you need to get out and experience the real world every once and while. You wouldn't sound so much like an idiot so much.

  • That's the best response to this whole wise latina controversy. What Sotomayor should be allowed to say is "fuck yeah bitch I said it. What!" That's what I would want to say on her behalf. Too bad she has to back off and play the game

  • I didn't observe any bullying here. Less than a year ago we were all about asking tough questions and demanding straight answers. This woman seeks to serve in a very high seat of duty to her country. Why is an intellectual examination of a hot-button topic so off-limits? When did it become acceptable to "just get 'em into office" and ask questions later? Furthermore, why are other major pieces of legislation being pushed through NOW, while our attention is turned toward this appointment?

  • Lindsay Graham will never be re-elected to any office. I think he is starting to realize this. Hence the bitterness.

  • So what she is saying is that she lied to the people she was talking to in the wise latina speech. She gave them false hopes because what she is saying now is that being latina would not help her reach a better judgement than any race or gender. She was lying to the people then or shes lying now. Which one is it?

  • I like to think that republicans are just 'pretending' to be too stupid to read Sotomayor's comments in context and understand what she was saying regarding the 'wise latina' comment. Any other scenario just makes my head hurt.

  • Comment removed

  • Racism deals with discriminatory behavior & language directed at a distinct group of people i.e. ethnic, religious, social, regional etc. It involves the belief that one group is inferior & should therefore not be granted the same rights and opportunities as others in the society. This discrimination can be overt but most often, especially in today's politically correct society, it is covert. Affirmative action programs were designed to help the discriminated against overcome these barriers.

  • Give me a god damned break. If you've read the text of her speech, "A Latina Judge's Voice"; I should hope that someone would put her to the wall on the race issue. Her latina this and latina that carp makes me want to puke, but fortunately this hasn't effected her record which is all that matters. Graham though had every right to tell the broad to watch her mouth.

  • The repugs choose to isolate that one comment and not include the whole message because they know it would weaken thier case for trying to say she is a racist.

  • This is EXACTLY the same thing as the picture of Obama and Sarkosy supposedly looking at that girl's ass (when in reality Obama was helping another girl down the steps.)

Taking things out of context to CREATE A SMEAR, which has no basis in truth.

There is only ONE KIND OF RACISM THAT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN AMERICA -- EVER. That is White Supremacy.

See Chris Rock Dont Blame the Messenger. Certain groups (the powerless) CAN make fun of other groups (the powerful.) But not the other way around.

  • Racists like you think you are entitled to special benefits over other people because of your ethnic background or skin color. That IS racism. And it is "so-called minorities" because if you were to take entire world population and by ratio there are far less whites than any race but I wouldn't expect an ignorant person like you to see past your toilet because your having a pitty party on the potty.

  • Entitlement. You hit the nail on the head. Sotomayor's statement could easily be taken to mean that a latina woman is entitled to a better position due to her racial perspective. Like any other SCOTUS nominee, she should be closely scrutinized. Look, judging from her track record, I like her a lot. Same with Obama, not because he's black, but because he is competent.

  • People of color in America sometimes think they are entitled to special benefits because not very long ago THEY WERE SOLD ON BLOCKS AS ANIMALS, DENIED EDUCATION, STRIPPED OF THEIR LANGUAGE AND CULTURE, FAMILIES SEPARATED, COULD NOT REPRESENT THEMSELVES IN COURTS, WERE RAPED AND LYNCHED BY THE THOUSANDS, FORCED INTO SEPARATE SUB-STANDARD SCHOOLS, NOT ALLOWED TO EAT IN RESTAURANTS, ETC ETC.

    Who is ignorant?

At least I am not trying to defend White Supremacy.

  • Well I wouldn't say you are ignorant, but extremely naive to open up the can of worms of "people think they are entitled to X, because Y happened to their race not long ago". That ends up applying to every race depending upon the parameters. If I was trying to defend white supremacy, I'd be saying something stupid like "whites built the foundation of this country and you're freeloading". That's carp, and so is affirmative action or any BS type of racial entitlement.

  • No it would NOT apply to every race. Only the ethnic groups who were SOLD AS SLAVES AND RAPED AND MURDERED WITH IMPUNITY FOR CENTURIES. (That would exclude White males in America.)

If I rape your wife, burn down your house, hang your children, and take everything of value you own -- DONT YOU THINK YOU WOULD DESERVE TO REPRESENT YOURSELF IN COURT, AND SEEK A COURT-ORDERED REMEDY?

Why is this so hard to understand?

  • You're an absolute imbecile. Do you not know anything about history? The statement that white males are excluded from the category of enslavement and persecution is preposterous. Do you know anything about the Irish, German, Russian, immigrants who came to this country and were forced to live in separate housing, were lied to, cheated, killed, and yes, enslaved when first arriving in this country. Next time do some research before you make a fool of yourself!

  • Yes that is the sad truth but what about the Germans the Irish the Chinese that were also slaves too? How about my Native ancestors that had its land stolen were raped and pillaged? Guess what you don't here them or me crying about the PAST. Its the past, and I can't change it. Get over it stop feeling your are specially entitled over others because it breeds superiority. No one is better than anyone else or superior. You are an American just like everyone else.

  • MissDragonFyre-

Native Americans in many areas have hunting & fishing rights (netting) that are different from the rest of the population. They also have been entitled to college tuition grants exclusively for them. The tribes are also granted gaming (casino/gambling) permits because of their Native American status. The revenue has helped the tribes with education funding & health care facilities, as well as employing a great number of the members of the tribe. I see nothing wrong with this.

  • MissDragonFyre-

What kind of Native America are you?I for one am from the Mik/maq tribe of the Eastern Coast. And I have all full treaty rights. We for one are not like the rest of the population. And how dare you compare us to the Germans and the Irish and the Chinese.I don't know what type of education you have, but clearly you are a liar,or,your just one stupid American. You spread false messages. And you practice HATE!Next thing your going to be saying is that your a direct descendant of Jesus too

  • My mother is half Abenaki. Abenaki is still not recognized Federally by the US but is by Canada. I was not clear but Central American Indians were indeed murdered raped and enslaved by Columbus and some were brought over to Europe.

  • That is why I said that Chinese and Native Americans are in a different category than Irish and Germans.

Here's the breakdown. If as recently as 50 years ago, you could be shot in front of witnesses, (or hung, or set on fire,) and your assailant would not be prosecuted, you are entitled to redress from the white power structure who created that situation.

  • The Germans and Irish were NEVER SOLD ON BLOCKS AS ANIMALS, LANGUAGE AND CULTURE ERASED, FAMILIES SEPARATED, NOT ALLOWED TO DEFEND THEMSELVES IN COURT, RAPED AND LYNCHED WITH IMPUNITY -- like I said.

Chinese and Native Americans are different. They have experienced the INSTITUTIONALIZED WHITE SUPREMACY that Blacks in America have experienced.

My point is simple -- there is only one kind of "racism" that matters in America. That is WHITE SUPREMACY. There is no other kind of racism in America.

  • Nonesense you are no more or less entitled than anyone else on the planet asshole. To think otherwise IS in fact RACIST.

  • I agree, that no one human being is more entitled than another, on this earth.

That is why what I said is true. THE ONLY "RACISM" THAT HAS EVER BEEN A PROBLEM IN AMERICA IS WHITE SUPREMACY -- the belief that the white race is MORE ENTITLED than people with darker skin.

Take a look at the US Senate, if you dont believe that this FALSE AND EVIL BELIEF SYSTEM IS STILL VARY MUCH ALIVE.

  • muttonbuster-

How would you bring an extremely discriminated section of a country's population into the economic and educational parity, if that section had very little political power and was if it not overtly being denied access to opportunity, was covertly being denied access? I site such things as college entrance exams that ask knowledge questions typically taught in AP classes. What if your only access is to inner city schools that barely have funding for basic classes.

  • Brought into economic parity is ultra-liberal code for pull out your checkbook. You know, I really wish you kooks would create your own party, you give democrats a bad name. A) Oh they have the funding, the unions just sqaunder it on administrators. B) There are AP classes at even Compton Unified, and I guarantee you honors chemistry there is not full.

  • muttonbuster-

I really wish you could answer a civil question without resorting to name calling. Because my beliefs are not exactly similar to yours doesn't mean that you are the gatekeeper of the Democratic Party. You sound more like a Republican. Many of my views are moderate.

It is obvious you generalize a great deal and know little of school funding and most poor school systems. Public education may be available to all, but it is hardly equal in its quality, offerings and physical plants.

  • A) Sorry, but I do consider statements like "bring to economic parity" to be kooky. Since when in this country entitled to a certain economic status based on race? B) I have a stepfather in PVPUSD and an aunt in LAUSD. The amount of state funding LAUSD receives per capita student far exceeds that of PVPUSD. Local property taxes don't come close to offsetting it. The difference is that it isn't mired in administrative BS and functions more efficiently.

  • I thought people were supposed to advance their economic status through hard work, not by making racial excuses. Why is it all the Viets, Chinese, scratch that even the majority of the latinos I went to the UC system with; a lot having survived some pretty evil neighborhoods did so well and weren't running around screaming La Raza? Maybe because they had good parents who taught them a solid work ethic. Parenting is the true key, not a welfare check or affirmative action.

  • muttonbuster-

To break the cycle of welfare and broken families, someone has to succeed and parent the next generation differently.

You speak of only of the California system of educational funding, it is not the only system in the nation. There are many funding systems in the nation where affluent suburbs are funded higher than in poor inner city schools.

  • Yes, no doubt there is administrative mismanagement, but there is still the problem of the student stuck in that system, with the school literally falling down on their head and only a few, outdated textbooks. Shall we as a nation to turn our heads and disregard the student? How does this student get a chance to break the cycle and achieve economic success/parity without some help?

  • The problem isn't the funding. It's the bureaucracy. In primary education per-pupil, the US spends: 27% more than Japan, 122% more than South Korea (zoiks!), 62% more than Germany....and yet they are beating the carp out of us test score wise. Why? A) kids are taught discipline at home and in the class B) it's all taught in the same language C) most importantly, there isn't a huge do nothing monopolistic bureaucracy.

  • muttonbuster-

Exactly, but the funding has to go to the right places! In more or less homogenous countries (Germany less so) I doubt that there is much disparity of funding from one school system to the next. I would not be surprised if their federal governments had more control over how the funding was disperse, especially Japan and S. Korea!

  • I also know that in Europe children are tracked at a young age. that means that if they do not fell you are college material you are placed on a vocational track. this leaves the more academic classes freer to advance quicker in there curriculum. That would never fly here!

  • typo correction- "feel" not "fell"

  • I definitely agree. As for the districts that are functioning well, I almost think they should have something independent like the CATO institute analyze and figure out why it's inefficient. I dunno, I still believe that Obama is much more likely to overhaul education and health care effectively than McCain. That is if the can whip the Pelosi's on Capitol hill into shape and cut out the paybacks and fleecing.

  • muttonbuster-

I believe in unions (big surprise) & the reason I do for teachers is the fact that school boards are not all created equal, rational and knowledgeable. Here is one hypothetical example, if you are nonunion, non tenured biology teacher in a district where let's say evolution is not popular with the board, but you feel a responsibility to your students, especially those who are college bound to teach it. What protection do you have to follow your convictions & not end up unemployed?

  • muttonbuster-

Go to the web site for Education Sector. Look for the article called "Education Funding's Tragic Flaw."

The website is all one word, lower case 'educationsector' and it is and 'org' not a 'com'. This organization is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank. It could be of interest to you.

  • muttonbuster-

By economic parity I was referring to education which REALLY is the key to economic success and advancement. If a bright, hard working child is in an environment where at every turn he/she is faced with substandard educational situations, that child is up against a frustrating barrier. How do you change that? You say good parenting and I agree. I say also hope and a good education are also fundamental.

  • Broken system but can be fixed: 1)A dministrators need to be culled. Paper pusher? Kick rocks get a job in the private sector. Tenured but suck at teaching? Scram, Sam, you're now unemployed. 2) State run military schools as a backup. Bad seed who gets violent over and over? Sorry kid, you're now enlisted. If you made Bill Gates the czar, 1st thing he would do? Bust the teachers unions, tell the UAW Detroit type head thugs to get the hell out. Future of the US depends on it!

  • muttonbuster-

To continue, yes discipline is a big factor with ALL students. Respect for education and educator is terrible. However, if you are lucky to be in a district where class size is lower (19-23 students) behavior is easier to handle. Many poor districts have huge class sizes and some also have teachers teaching out of their majors, big problem. In Japan and I would guess S. Korea education is respected and teachers are honored.

  • Liberals - I am liberal too. Why make a fool of yourself and pretend she is being bullied. She deserves to get raked over the fucking coals. Anyone obama appoints is going to be good for us, so jesus.

  • tpmtv fuck u! wont even let me send u message. pussy. back ur shit up. where's the bullying?

  • bullying? horeshit you fucking cocksucking communist bleeding heart fuck ur ruining our country.

  • "You need to understand the world as it pretty much really is."

    This, coming from a Republican....

  • where's the bullying? For Fuck sake, she's having her record examined for appointment to the supreme court.

  • For those missing the bullying, it wasn't caught on camera. As Sotomayor was going to the washroom, Lindsey Graham ran up and hip-checked her into the wall like the Red Wings power forward.

  • I'm tellin ya man. Ever since Scott Niedermayer got a late night message on his answering machine from Bonnie Garcia that said: "I'm gonna come around at twelve with some other Puerto Rican politicos that are just dyin to meet you", the word is out! Those fiery latina politicos dig guero hockey players! Graham's just gettin his forecheck on.

  • gueros r blondes

  • I missed the bullying ????

  • I did not see any bullying here, I think Sen Graham expressed rather clearly his thoughts on the matter, and did not condemn Sotomayor for those. I think Sen Graham spoke for once without being the jackass many of us think him to be.

  • Hey Senator Dickward, it's latinA, not latino. Sotomayor is female. If you're going to advise someone to be culturally sensitive, start with yourself.

    Thank you,

-White Male who realizes that we are still subconsciously privileged and that Sotomayor is definately not a racist.

  • Im a Dem., a liberal, and a progressive.

In the segment I dont see anything 'bullying' in the words of Graham. I dont care for Lidsey Graham, but there is nothing 'bullying' about what he said ... and frankly, I agree with his comments.

  • LOL, sure. You're a liberal, alright.

  • Liberal does not mean I surrender critical thinking.

Other than the "can you quote it" remark, Graham was not 'bullying' (in the segment shown here). And his point has validity.

  • Real bullying is the nomination hearing for Justice Clarence Thomas.

  • I would hardly call that "bullying".

However, If you really want to see some bullying you should go look at the old video of former USSC nominees Italian-American Justice Samual Alito and Attorney General Alberto Gonzalos.

  • I think "Bullies" is a completely inappropriate description of what we're seeing, here. I think Sen. Graham's entire dialogue with Sotomayor was refreshingly mature and candid for a minority party member's examination. In fact, I think the conclusion they reach together, and in particular Sen. Graham's last statement, was rather thought-provoking.

  • You know I really didn't know how oppressed wealthy white men are in America. America is sensitive to racial comments from WWM for a reason the fact that Latino women make up only 3% of they country's judges tell you something else.

  • How does a random statistic like that tell you anything, Ib10128? Does it take into account the number of latina candidates there are for judge? Does it take into account how many latinas aspire to become judge? Does it take into account how many latinas are even qualified or experienced enough to become judge? Or does it strictly take a race, a gender, and a position and produce an outcome favorable for your arguement?

  • It tells me the Latina perspective on law is sorely lacking in today's Judiciary. Diversity on the bench composed of a vast ethnic representation of Americans is good for America and it signifies the progress we have made. We had a 100% white male court for 200+ years and frankly a 100% minority female court while highly improbable, composted of qualified individuals would be a breath of fresh air.

  • See, now you are just changing the conversation completely. The first comment you made implied that "WWM", an acronym I have never seen used, were somehow at the bottom of the 3% of latina judges and the it was the latinas being oppressed. My point was that it may have nothing to do with oppression or everything to do with oppression, but with nothing but 1statistic to go off of it's hard to say.

  • Compost is right. What a pile. I don't care if the whole bench is black, female, white, or everyone's last name ends in -sky or -berg. All that should matter is the soundness of their judicial track record and are they amply qualified for the job. Heck, if we're going for racial aesthetics, I'd rather have the court stacked with some smoking hapa haoles so that i could stand more of 30 seconds at a time watching CNN or FOX.

  • Graham just doesn't get it.

  • Does Lindsey's boyfriend realize he's such an idiot?

  • If people want to keep concealing the problems that have oppressed women and minorities throughout our history, then Mr. Graham has all the say in the world

  • Not offended by his comments or her comments that were referenced.

  • -500 stars for the title if I could!

  • Dick, what a dick

  • Yeah sure moron. Any NON-white can make a statement like that and its somehow NOT racist. Yet, if a white says that they would be called a racist. Fools like you make me sick. Sotomayor is a racist bitch!

  • But saying what you just did "racist b#$%&"... that doesn't make you a racist?

  • you believe 6 BILLION HUMANS should BURN IN ETERNAL HELL for not subscribing to your narrow, "religious" fantasies. And WE are the bigots? DRAGON : OVERBEARING, TYRANNICAL WOMAN.... look it up, it's in your dictionary between BITCH and FOOL. Have you even READ Proverbs? You are described there repeatedly. You just don't want to go to school with Black Children. You don't want them in your neighborhood. Why not tell the truth? Quit pretending to be righteous.

  • Are you kidding my daughter's best friend is black lol shows how much you know about me. Ohh and my fiance is part Mexican and guess what even he says Sotomayor is a racist too!

  • What religious fantasies are you talking about Islam is false? and where did I ever advertise to YOU or anyone to subscribe. Who said I was righteous? And where did I ever say I don;t want my children with blacks? I can tell by your attitude that YOU think YOU are better than someone else because YOU ARE the racist.

  • he has a racist constituency to speak for, just doing his job, not his fault he comes from a district full of ignorant racists

  • Racism,Racism, Racism. Blau, blau, blau. We ended racism in the 60s'. It's over that's it. you don't get any more.

  • UUUGGGH UG UG

    O O O

    AAAARRRRGGGHHH

The ONLY racists who exist today are those who claim that racism still exists today, RIGHT?

    You go, girl!

  • When she made that statement, she DID NOT MISPEAK...He is such an a@#hole!

  • How was he respectful? He was a bully and it was obvious he was baiting.

  • What a dumb fucking idiot - McCain's flounky! WOW this is a joke

  • "The world in which we live in" is poor grammar, and he's said it twice. Ignorant ass hill billy.

  • did you guys know that lindsey walks around with a 12 inch dildo shoved deep up his tight ass?

    its true

  • these racists do not even hear how they sound! it is amazing!

  • I thought Graham was respectful, and probably reflecting on some of his own statements when referring to Sotomayor's. I didn't think it was bullying.

  • The only racism, prejudice, perversion of justice going on in this nation, is perpetrated by the White Men in power, and the stooges, like Graham, that represent their interests. Reverse racism is a god damned canard.

  • YOU are the racist. People like you are sick.

  • This is called Grandstanding guys ,not bullying not antyhign else but Grandstanding

  • bullying? really? is TPM run by pussies or what? at what point was he bullying that woman?

  • i'm very liberal. i worked on the obama campaign. and i think sen. lindsey graham is the best representative the Republican party has.

he is respectfully bringing an important point to the table. i used to think he was, as other commenters have called him, a "douche".

  • Graham is so full of himself

  • hes grandstanding

  • Its really sad when the right wing clings to one quote.....quite sad

  • I dislike Graham, he's a fuckwad most of the time.

But here he was reasonable... His statements were quite admirable.

Makes me wonder whether he is trying to score some cheap political points seeing as he knows that Sotomayor is going to get confirmed no matter what.

  • Lindsey is such an ass. Now contrast this treatment with his shoe licking of Alito.

  • God what a DICK. I love Sotomayor, she's awesome. He's treating her like she's a child. It's because she's a woman and that's how these men treat women in higher positions. It doesn't help that he's not a good example of a white male.

  • It didn't occur to me until now that TPM was a partisan outlet. I think I will drop it from my subscriptions now that I know it not only reports political banter but has it's own agenda and skew.

  • lol wow.. that took you a while lol

    TPM is liberal.. DUH!!!

  • you only realized it NOW? sheesh

  • I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than any nigger fagot or jew.

  • This isn't bullying. It needed to be addressed, and they both handled it pretty well.

  • i usually dont agree with republicans and im not whit but i think that he was right what she said was racist

if a white guy said that it would take a smart white man to do the job he would not be on and stretched out like gum

  • I don't see any bullying.

  • neither do I, i usually find Graham to be a douche but this time he was slick

  • cause TPM is run by a bunch of partisan hacks, that's just how they spin things. liberals are intellectually honest that way, you know?

  • Gotta love hyper-partisan politics. Bullied her? Please tell me how you can even begin to say he bullied her.He said if it was a white male, who said that about a minority, they'd have the white males head. That is an indisputable fact. He ends it by saying some people deserve a second chance when they misspeak. If anything he is giving her a pass for an obvious very bad choice of words, but you hyper-partisan spin it as bullying her...what a joke.

  • Fuck Lindsey Graham. To put it plain and simple.

  • she's ugly, i don't like her politics. i'm remembering the 60's when liberals were sexy hotties in wet tee shirts. it was almost enough to make a conservative vote democrat. but now these old leftist haggs turn my stomach at the very sight of thier face. she belongs in a kitchen somewhere flippin tortillas. at least jane fonda made you want to sit next to her on that north vietnamese anti aircraft gun. but my true red white & blue would have caused me to turn the gun on her, the traitor. tj

  • your day pass is so over.

  • Seriously...if you want to "eye candy", stick with your brain-dead soon-to-be former governor from Alaska. Sotomayor is a qualified nominee for the Supreme Court, not Maxim's Dumb Ass Conservative Toolbox of the Month.

    Pull your head out.

  • that is soo true. That is the thinking that will bring back american muscle, manufacturing, and jobs to bring back the good ol' days. The all or nothing days. the days where weed was cheap, the days where the music was good, the days...

you know what? fuck you damnit you inconsiderate prick. fuck you and i hope something bad happens to someone you love. and when it does, blame it on this.

  • Fuck you with a rusty 2-by-4 Lindsey Graham. You condescending asshole. You think she doesn't know the world as it is. You privileged dickhead. She's 10 times the person you are and I'm tired of White males who think everyone else needs to kiss their ass.

  • So...is Senator Graham another frequent flyer at the "C-Street" political brothel and right-wing indoctrination center? Another one of "The Elect"..."The Chosen"...those to whom "the normal rules do not apply"? Politics is full of hypocritical politicians but honestly, the GOP should be given some kind of medal or award for having the biggest hypocrites, racists, and bigoted people in all of politics. Oh waitI forget, their award awaits them in heaven. Nevermind.

  • He's talking to her like she's 5 years old. What an ass.

  • That's bullying? Seemed kind of soft ball to me.

Graham should have had Sotomayor explain the meaning of her remarks if she feels Graham is misrepresenting them. Inquiring minds want to know.

  • If it is an inquiring mind, then one would think the mind would not be seeking such information on a comments board!

  • Ahh...the victim mentality of a while man :D

  • Honestly, I don't think he's bullying her. He's questioning her like he's supposed to.

  • He's not bullying her

    He's telling the truth

If he fucking said "I'm a better senator because i'm white and have a dick" THE POLITICIANS, THE MEDIA AND THE VOTERS WOULD HAVE HIS HEAD ON A STICK!

  • Graham's Got a point

  • lindsey graham is the aberration. he's a pinhead moron who needs to stfu!

  • what a dickface

  • this has it all..racism, sexism (the whole temperament questions), and the drawl of disrobed klansmen

  • what is it with the commenters on this site ,thinking they are making a point with their potty mouths?

  • Ok, the wise latina comment was racist. I can't believe you guys have your head so far up Obama's ass you can't recognize it.

  • Yep, something Sotomayor said is ALL about Obama's ass.

More projection from the nutjob wing of our nation.

  • Did you address whether or not her statement is racist? Get back to me when you learn to pay attention.

  • Did you even bother to read her entire speech and understand what she was talking about in the wider sense?

    No, it wasn't racist.

Presented how you have been told to understand it, it appears racist.

But you have been easily manipulated into believing that the quotation by itself is in full context.

Get back to me when you learn to read, not be so easily manipulated, and equate every person you disagree with as having their head up Obama's ass - as you so maturely and intelligently put it..

  • I bet you are one of those people who also crop the first three words off her comment, AND hasn't heard or read the entire speech. Correct?

  • Does anybody understand the notion that a person belonging to a minority, and having experienced the disadvantages, discrimination and injustices that minorities usually experience, can actually become wiser because of those hardships, than someone who has no idea what experiencing those things is like? I mean, come on. You can't reverse the statement, because whites are not a minority. And they have never been oppressed, discriminated against, and belittled as Latinos have.

  • P.S. Fuck Lindsay Graham. You fucking pompous self-righteous asshole!

  • He said, " read it to me!"

She did a great job keeping her cool

  • what graham said is absolutely true. yes, it is wrong to quote someone out of context. yes, she was misunderstood and if she can, she would rephrase what she said. even obama said that, cmon guys...but if graham said that, he wouldnt be there right now.

  • i actually like graham.

  • Shut the fuck up Lindsay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OK, is it just me or is Lindsay Graham gay? Anyways, I can't stand Repiglicans that say that you have to be "objective" to rule from the bench, what are they, robots? I don't understand how someone could want to follow what the "founders" intended when they intended prejudice, inequality, and institutionalized racism and classism.

  • I'd say being called a bigot by a neo-nazi like yourself would be taken as quite the compliment mister norton.
