I'm Irish and was at the game in Paris on Wednesday. I'm still heart broken, but every French person we spoke too apologised to us for what had happened and told us it was a disgraceful decision. Thanks to the lovely French people we met.

@imedi Well whoever fault is, what I meant to say is that everything could have happened during that hectic set-piece. Thierry saw the occasion and chanced it, the referee did not see it, Shay Given or the diffenders have not been there either & the goal was allowed by the referee. This could happend to any team and in any tournement as long as a video camera is not in place as in Rugby.

The ref gave that penalty to Georgia, Keane didn't dive or anything, the ref gave Ireland a penalty for what he thought was a handball, not for any fouls or dives.
What's Keane to do except be professional and knock the ball in the net.

@mrusername Actually Giampaolo Pazzini did that for Sampdoria the week before this game. He handballed it before scoring and the ref gave the goal but he admitted that he handballed and the ref disallowed it. Sampdoria then drew the game. At least he still has his integrity, something Henry will never get back. And look how great France did in the World Cup, it was really worth it.

I'm Irish and was at the game in Paris on Wednesday. I'm still heart broken, but every French person we spoke too apologised to us for what had happened and told us it was a disgraceful decision. Thanks to the lovely French people we met.

e difference was, in their instances e referee caught them and it wasn't debated at all.

I think there is an argument to be made about what constitutes fair game in europian cultures. I can't entirly blame a player for cheating when as you so ably point out fifa sanction the likes of edwaurdo divving and the like. Thgis is not an issue the authorities are going to do anything about so long as a few big clubs have the power. I doubt if the grass roots will mind considering most suporters are merely suporting what ever is successful. It can't make it good or right though surly?
