  • What size turbo is this? GT35R?

  • @zbirdmusic

This is a S259 billet wheel Bullseye Turbo. We have since upgraded to a S366 Double Batmowheel and will be hitting the dyno again very soon. Shooting for 600 + WHP this time around.

  • when can we expect to see this beast on the quarter mile?

  • @bajiprngmntsxingyi

Shooting for April or early May. Our track doesn't open until late March and its so slippery the first month that it would be a waste of time to go and run. We should have the new tune and everything worked out on the car by that time. We should also be at 600 + WHP at that time as well. If all goes well, we will have the first 10 second pass for the MazdaSpeed 3 market.

  • @ptperformance Very nice car! I love the 1st gens, and they are slightly faster stock then the second gens (I think because the 2nd gen speeds are a little heavier)

  • hey guys at ptp i have a 2008 ms3 with just cai n bov id be happy with 350whp where should i start performace wise?

    ?

  • how far do you think this turbo can be pushed?.. its hard to find real world information on these new billet turbos

  • @jordanBLP1

We know that we could have made 580 WHP with this turbo. When we ran 32 psi we had a chart that was looking to be 40 WHP over what we made but the current MAP sensor was only set up for 30 psi and the PCM was not going to have it, LOL.

We are running a S366 now and should have more numbers posted soon.

  • Live in HKY NC and theres EVOs makin 600+.

  • @The2008tundra

Yes, we have them here as well. The point being... this is a direct injected engine. The EVO doesn't have direct injection yet. When the do, they will have to overcome those issues with fueling or running larger injectors (not readily available yet). There are limitations everywhere with the direction injection applications, this is why its such a huge issue right now.

  • @ptperformance Ah, didn't consider direct injection. TRaded the tundra for an '11 speed in March. Anyway, dynoed the speed yesterday and made 248 3rd run with just a accessport and cobb sf intake. going exhaust next.

  • @The2008tundra

Get a fuel pump, performance rail valve and custom tune... you will never look back. 300 WHP is easy with the second gen speeds.

  • @ptperformance Thank you. Dyno'd at HIS Motorsports In Hickory NC and they offer dynotunes for $400. Said they mostly opensource on EVOs but know a guy who can tune the genpu.

  • @The2008tundra

We can tune the genpu (obviously) but you will not want to get a tune until you get a feul pump. The Genpu's are very fuel hungry and to get the potential out of them you must upgrade the fuel system.

  • Is this a Cosmic Blue Mica Speed3?

  • @googlybear224

No, its metro gray. Its a dark silver with a hint of blue.

  • Where you guys from???

  • @lbori1

    Washington state, Tacoma/Seattle area.

  • @ptperformance Me too :-]

  • @ptperformance Nevertheless, you did a nice job. That's a lot of dam Horse power for a compact 4 cylinder. :-)

  • @kalijasin

Take a look at our SRT4 shop cars, both of them are making over 700 WHP. Its a lot of power, but that is what we do.

  • @ptperformance I will. Thank You very Much :)

  • Comment removed

  • @ptperformance The curb weight out of the factory for the speed3 is 2900lbs. That's a lot of weight for a 4 cylinder compact. I've seen muscle cars with BIG blocks that weigh significantly less than that.

  • @kalijasin

Watch the video of this car doing a street pull. Its spins the tires all the way out to 120 MPH, the power is not the problem, putting it to the ground will be.

  • @kalijasin curb weight is actually closer to 3200lbs. but with that much power it doesn't matter...

  • @wowowiiwaa1337 I was talking about a stock speed 3 ... this one clearly is not 100% stock. But yeah, if you add bigger exhaust, turbo, etc.. weight will go up.

  • @wowowiiwaa1337 Also, if you are getting anywhere close to 200 mph aerodynamics come into play. That's a whole another thing.

  • @kalijasin

Yes they do, but the car is very slippery as it is at speeds over 160 MPH. I would have to say its just a stable at speed as my personal car that can do 200 very easy.

  • Comment removed

  • Its easy to get a lot of horsepower out of speed3s.

  • @kalijasin

Are you sure? If it were so easy we would see 500 WHP Speed 3's all over the place. LOL!

Its not easy, its very difficult and you have to add a ton of secondary fueling to make 500 WHP. We have done it two times now, and both cars have over 1200cc of secondary fueling to make power like this. Its easy to make 400 WHP, its not easy to make 500 WHP.

  • @ptperformance Horsepower TV got 300HP out of a speed3 with only an intercooler, cat back exhaust system, and a hyper tech programer.

  • @kalijasin

300 is easy, just tuned one via email.

  • Comment removed

  • @ptperformance Also, all that horsepower won't do much in the 1/4 mile if you do not improve stability, handling, and reduce weight.

  • @kalijasin

The car has KW V3's on it, full sways, and light weight wheels and tires. The only thing we have left to do is pull the interior, but customer is not interested in doing that.

  • Comment removed

  • @ptperformance The anti sway bars is a very nice addition. Especially with a compact that has this much Horse power.

  • what was causing BOOMs on 300hpers?

  • @mrQQ

Stock turbo spooling at 2500 RPM, piston speeds are to low, timing is to advanced = boom. Big turbo will not spool at 2500 RPM, so we have proper piston speed to keep the cyl pressures down.

  • @ptperformance was it actually the pressure that killed the engine, or knock caused by timing too advanced and ignored by driver? K04 can start spooling up as low as 1.6k, with 7psi at 2k or so, but if it doesn't knock it should be safe, no?

  • @mrQQ

It was cly pressure and oil vapors from the poor PCV system that killed most the motors we have torn down. Its not low boost levels that kill the motor its the spike in boost at 2500 to 2800 RPM that killed the motors. If you look online some you will find that several have blown the motors under WOT at initial spool, they almost never blow in the upper RPM band. You almost never see knock above 4k RPM, this is why bigger turbo motors almost never blow.

  • @ptperformance what kind of pressures are we talking about here? (the initial spike, which kills, what spike is unsafe?)

  • @mrQQ

Every car is different, there is no "magic" number that is safe. My rule of thumb when tuning the MS3/6, we keep boost 5 to 7 psi below peak boost under 3500 RPM. If you are running 20 psi, everything under 3500 RPM is 12 to 15 psi max boost. This will keep the motor happy for a very, very long time.

  • What's your email?

  • speeds are awesome!!!!! real man's car, i miss my speed!!!! :-'(

  • who did the tuning? looking to get my 2011 tuned and hard to find a good ms3 tuner

  • @capncrunchish

We did the tuning with this car. We are now "PRO" tuners for the Cobb AP for the Mazdas. The 2011 will be very easy to get the power out of due to the electronic assist steering. We don't have to deal with the P/S pump or lines being in the way. This will allow for a larger intake manifold and bigger piping on the turbo manifold.

  • @ptperformance

Wait the new gen uses electronic steering instead of hydraulic ?

  • @Bulgdoom

Yep, electronic assisted steering on the Gen II

  • Was this achieved with stock internals?

  • @mjp1173

No, but we just tuned another MS3 this weekend that made 503 WHP with a slipping clutch on stock head and block. If you want more details on this car, please send me a message.

    Thanks.

  • @mjp1173 did you seriously ask that?!?!?!

  • I love you Erich. MSF ftw.

  • @DaveDude571

Erich is the Man! Now about that MSF comment, LOL. Kevin, I want back on the site for technical support.

  • @ptperformance Hey bud I wish I could help.

  • @DaveDude571

If you are local, swing by. We could use another witness to the 600 WHP event!

  • it's nice to see a speed3 breaking the 500whp mark!

  • @08mazdaspeed

Thanks, hopefully we will be breaking the 600 mark soon.

  • Bout time we saw some numbers from these cars. Always saw them blowing up when you get near 300whp

  • @rhythmnsmoke

We had to get over that hurdle as well. Even with forged motors they were blowing up at 400 WHP, now that we have the billet strap kit for the lower end, blown DISI motors are a thing of the past.

  • @ptperformance Interesting, didn't realize (stopped researching) that they were having issues with even 400whp and built motors. Congrats again.

  • @rhythmnsmoke

    Thanks!

  • Made a mistake... the car actually made 516 WHP on pump gas, the first numbers were uncorrected. 516 WHP on "PUMP GAS".

  • Well it was confirmed... the car was on a different dyno today and made 504 WHP with an even better looking TQ curve. Pump gas, with meth. It really is the worlds first 500 WHP Mazdaspeed 3

  • How much for the head and intake and what are the specs on the head?

  • @Factoryfreakms3

Contact me via email or give the shop a call. The new head flows more than anything on the market hands down and it still uses the stock valves.

  • i used to drive Mazda3 for 1y .. its piece of shit !! sorry

  • @haythamyoussif

The regular 3's are a little on the plain side and are under powered. This is a "Speed" version of the 3, so it has some additional items that make it a huge step above the regular 3. Its like the Lexus of Toyota.

  • I will do! I will need a head here over the winter cause I'm still running a stock head but I do have a fully built block

  • @Factoryfreakms3

Great, we have a new cly head and intake manifold design we want to try out! I also want to try a little more aggressive camshaft profile as well. Let me know when you are ready.

  • Awesome work guys....my speed should be done soon...were shooting for 500 whp as well

  • @Factoryfreakms3

Thanks, let me know if you need any help with getting to the 500 WHP with your car.

  • Isn't this the same guy who screwed over a ton of people a few years back?

  • @jhorod09

You have us mistaken with another company, we have never "screwed" anyone out of product or services.

  • Awesome cuz I'm in the works for the first 500+ awhp Mazdaspeed 6

  • @flyrabbi34

We will have the turbo kit, Ultimate motor and cly head listed on the site here in the next few days. All the items will be listed on the site very soon so anyone can duplicate this build (less tuning).

    Thanks

  • you guys plan on manufacturing that intake Mani??

  • @flyrabbi34

Yes, there are plans for making this manifold in the works right now. Turbo kit, motor, cly head and all the items for this build will be getting added to our website soon.

  • How many people can say they have built a 500+whp Mazdaspeed? 1 mother fucking person. What have you guys done?

  • how many MAF screens you running?

  • @aaronc7

Didn't you know... they add at least 15 WHP per screen, LOL. The intake was built properly so there is not need for any MAF screens on this car.

  • Subscribed for when the next video titled 500whp MS3 goes BOOM!!! :)

Pitty P. Should file bankruptcy again.

  • @MrSteves08srt

This car was at another dyno day and made another 500 + WHP pass with several in attendance. The customer will be moving the car back to its 24 psi tune which is 440 WHP and we will be leaving it alone from here on out. Customer is very happy and any car that can make 500 + on pump gas, is impressive.

  • What size snail?

  • @T67GS300

Bullseye S259 billet wheel with an 070 3" v-band exhaust housing.

  • Nice! congrats!

  • Wow! I never thought it would get done so soon. You need to take this car on the strip!

  • @kageryu311

We have plans on hitting the 1/4 mile before the end of the season, problem being... we will be stuck on street tires or DR's. No slicks for this car because it was set up for autocross.

  • @ptperformance Thats not a good idea with a FWD car making so much power. Good luck though.

  • @kageryu311

Its a little crazy but the idea behind making this much power was to verify that our products can support it. We know can verify that our motors, injector seal, fuel pumps, cly heads, cams, intake manifold, ect ect ... can make the power that we claim. The first to 500 + WHP!

  • @ptperformance Don't worry, I believe you are making the power, I just think you need better tires and test the power that you just made where it really shows, the drag strip.

  • @kageryu311

We are getting the slicks figured out right now, if all goes well start of next month we will have track results posted up.

  • @ptperformance Get some street slicks?

  • @kalijasin

We have a few things planned before we get slicks on the car. Larger turbo, more secondary fuel, some additional cooling systems, ect ect. Before the end of the year we should have the car making 600 WHP, then we will be putting slicks on the car and hitting the track.

  • @ptperformance Are you sure it can handle all that horsepower? That's a lot of horsepower for stock: Internal components, engine block, and transmission.

  • @kalijasin

Transmission can take just about anything you can throw at it. We are surprised that the stock head and block have taken 500 WPH on our second 500hp car. We are going to test the limits of the stock motor very soon (shooting for 560 + WHP).

  • Comment removed

  • @ptperformance I'm not no mechanic but I do know the basics of this. Transmissions operate at lower rotational speed than engines. They have to be designed that way so they don't overspin and break and can also convert as much power as possible to torque and wheel speed. The only way around this is with a high performance clutch and stronger (structurally) gears.

  • @kalijasin

Clutch is done with a custom billet flywheel and new 6 puck, so that is not a problem. The gears seem to be very rohbust, Mazda over built this transmission.

  • @ptperformance awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome work John! Love the numbers and the ride looks clean. Congrats on 500whp. What turbo you running in there? IS that water to air cooled?

  • @matrix311

S259 billet wheel and yes... its a WOA intercooler.

  • Excellent numbers! Too bad this wasn't the stock block there are alot of us who want to know the upper limits of the internals.

  • @dsmluck

We wanted to see what the stock block could handle, but couldn't justify the cost of doing such a thing. I suspect that this motor could handle mid to high 400's if you could keep the torque under 400. The 7400 RPM might be tough on the stock internals as well.

  • all you haters are just scared cause the speed 3 can whoop all ya'lls asses!

  • Very nice run!!!

  • GOOD RUNS. CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT PTPCAN DO FOR US N54 GUYS ;)

  • @steven09999

We have a lot planned for you guys! Just wait!!!

  • Hey John, looks like you guys are still putting out nice dyno runs. Sounded very smooth. Are you still making parts for the CSRT4?

  • @oz64cobra01

Thanks, the car pulls very clean!

Yes, we are still making parts for the CSRT4, and we have a bunch of new items getting listed in the coming months for the car. Keep an eye out for our new 90mm big bore motor with 4 bolt main caps!

  • Which means what to me? Who cares! I gave up on front drive cars when I sold my SRT-4, and it put down 408 at the wheels with a few simple mods. Who cares about front drivers!

  • @Vbh2011

Nobody really cares, I am more excited about the numbers because its direct injected. These numbers from a direct injected 4 cly car are "AMAZING".

  • So sweet!

  • @royalh13

    Yes it is, thank you.

  • Only one problem; it's a Mazdaspeed 3!

  • @Vbh2011

LOL, yea but at least they are still putting this motor and transmission inside the Gen II's.
