m going to china soon and Do not want to take my laptop, i might be purchasing this airport express and also either an ipad or ipod touch. But in China, it isnt common to have wifi in Hotels only ethernet. And obviously you can't connect cable to an ipad or ipod touch. So i was wondering if i can buy this airport express, set it up at home and configure the router settings, then when i go to china turn it on, pop in the cable and then it should appear on my ipad as a connection also for others?

I have a netgear wireless router. I want the Extreme. So do i turn off the wireless feature on my router, to turn it into a modem sort of device, then use an ethernet cable from the existing router and plug it into the extreme?

You have to plug it into your modem, and it works with full speed. Cannot plug straight to phoneline.

I have a 2wire gateway if i want to buy an AirPort Extreme do i have to take of the 2wire gateway and plug the Airport Extreme by it self? Or do I have to keep my 2wire Gateway connected then add on the AirPort Extreme?? Please help some one. Many thanks. =)

You can put 1 ethernet cable in the Extreme

And then you can make 3 ethernet cables go out

+ You can make a wireless network for your iphone, ipod, wifi mobile, etc.

Hey, I just bought an iMac recently and want to hook it up to the internet. If I get this do I just plug the power cable into the wall, and the ethernet cable into the AirPort Extreme and the other end into my iMac? Please help! Thanks

@1523lebronjames1523 in your case you wouldn't need the airport extreme since you already have a wireless router. your imac can get internet from the wireless router. if you want to use the airport extreme replace the router with the extreme and youre good to go.

The wire that isgoing into the computer needs to be plugged into the port on the back of the router as shown in the video. Assuming that computer has a built in wireless antenna or something, you should be able to to the airport with that.

to setup this router do u just have to plug it into the back of a desktop that gets internet through a wire and then u will get wifi?
