Dogs know when they are loved.
They will feel more loved and happy with someone who takes care of him loving him very much with less knowledge of what they're doing than those who train their dogs by the book. If you train by the book, not only you don't trust yourself, but you don't let the dog do any mistakes and he'll end up closed and unhappy.
Agreed. It's really important to remain comfortable with yourself and the dog if you're training it, for your sake and the dogs. The more familiar you are with it the more social and trusting it will be, making it much easier to train, regardless of your technique.

Try Shiba Rescue groups if you want a Shiba. There are lots of them who needs good homes. The older ones make great pets!
