I have never been affected by a cd more than The Pleasure and The Pain! Thought I had lost it -- found it a month later in another cd case! I have listened to it every night since! I need more info on the band!
I haven't seen or heard these songs for over 20 years. I've tried searching online but no sucess. Thank you!!! I saw these guys in Halifax in July 1990: they sounded just like you hear them here on Youtube. The Box are truly a part of Canadian history and culture.
Yep. Like 'The Origin' (a California band from around the same time) there are a hundred bands out there with the same name.
iTunes has one or two of the CD's for download, including The Pleasure & The Pain, with two tracks not on the original US CD release (which I have preserved my copy of).
Thanks for the video posting...if I can just find 'Shine Blue Lady' I'll be happy!
Jean Marc Pispalia had one of the best voices in Canadian Music. We were blessed to hear such a voice. the band just meshed for a certain time under the stards. Magical. true lovers of Canadiana love the Box....
It`s serious I took near 20 years!!! to find this material, I loved that song since the first moment I heard it. No cd`s no video found in my search. Thank you John for uploading this !!!
was that the show that also had skydiggers and colin james? Canada day i believe. Molson Park used to have the greatest summer shows. the parking lot was a field..and while the beer tents were of course jammed, nobody busted your balls if u were tossen a frisbee , playen acoustic guitar and tailgaten. man those were the days.
cool. Wonder if the DVD wold work in the states. Any link? The worst thing about this band - try searching any web site for "The Box" and find a million links! :)
One of my favorite Box songs, and this is probably the first music video I've seen from them that has good production values (even though I don't understand what's going on).
They have, even though it was released back in 2005. The album is called Black Dog There, and over half of the tunes on the album are good, in my opinion. Also, I heard that they will have a new album coming out next year, though I don't know its exact release date.
Wow, it took me 17 years to see this video again!! I only saw it a couple of times back then but never forgot it! THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS!! :o)
The first time I heard this song it was june and I was on hospital bed (some problem with the meniscus of my right knee). Great song: thanks for posting
The Box actually released a new album last year, I'm not sure if they released it outside of Quebec. Sass Jordan got her start as a backup singer for them on "Closer Together."
wow. could barely recognize the band. The voice during the bridge was unmistakable though. The song didn't do much for me, but nice to see some of their other work. Curious of their last year release is similar to temptation/closer together...
Nah, they claimed their last album was influenced by 70's prog (it was a concept album about a kid who dreamed of becoming an astronaut). It sounded like flat radio rock, but that was only the first two singles.
you're welcome. :) That actually means a lot. I found a lot of cool videos on here I didn't know existed, and that inspired me to start putting my hard-to-find videos on here. Glad when they're appreciated. (unfortunately, the albums are probably hard to find these days)

This is my all time favourite from The Box. Eve since I was a young teen (12) I felt like the woman in the video.
Looking forward to getting away this summer and dancing around the fire to great music like she does in this fabulous video :) Thanks for posting.
