  • I have mixed feeling about cheese, I recently found out I've been suffering for years with a terrible overgrowth of candida and the diet says no cheese because it contains natural mold. Is thee something else I could use to replace the parmasian? Thanks! God bless :)

  • I wasn't adventuresome enough to do raw onion/garlic, so I very lightly sauteed them in the butter (yes butter...and sour cream...life is too short for substitutes!) before adding. I found the dish quite yummy, but no one else liked it much...texture is quite different than potatoes.

  • I have s few words to all the pinch of this and pinch of that whiners, use what makes YOU feel better about your dish. This is a guideline not a one size fits all dish - use you heads and stop nitpicking every little thing. Otherwise go figure it out for yourself.

  • I really enjoy your videos and love recipes, but some technical feedback; the lighting needs to be brighter, or your white balance on the camera you are using should be set. The yellowish tone is easy to fix and makes it hard to see what the final product should look like when you finish it.

  • Wait...you're using yogurt and parmesan cheese but then use butter SUBSTITUTE? Why?? Why not also use yogurt substitute and parmesan substitute and maybe even cauliflower substitute? After all, there's no way the real thing can be healthy for you.

  • I love mashed cauliflower No need to add cheese, yogurt, butter, or any other unnecessary calories. I just add garlic/herb spices.

    I make thick, chunky mashed potatoes, then I fry them into pancakes. And eat them with walden farms calorie free maple syrup.

  • oh, and btw, i have been making this recipe for years, i was once an avid Atkins dieter, I've since dropped Atkins, yet I still choose low carb dishes over starchy things, not only to be carb concious, my body isnt ussed to heavy starches anymore, and i prefer alternatives like these

  • i'm sorry but that was absolutely bland, and unpleasant to eat. anyone got any suggestions to improve the texture and to give it a little more flavor than...cauliflower...

  • to make it more flavorful and rich, i use sauteed garlic and onions, replace the "butter spread" with REAL butter, use sour or heavy cream instead of greek yogurt and i throw some real bacon bits on top. its yummy, more fat, not vegan or anything, yet i don't care about any of that. its replacing fats in place of the starch that balances the trade out, but i am a low carber, its delicious!

  • Bake it after you puree it..It will thicken it.

  • great video! since I'm allergic to garlic and onions, and am also vegan...i puree mine with some soygurt, salt, a drizzle of hazlenut oil, and some freshly grated nutmeg. Yummy!

  • I used just the hazelnut oil (no vegan spread). Also, you can substitue kefir instead of the soygurt for a creamier texture,

  • This idea hit me like a ton of bricks! One of my favorite foods is breaded cauliflower. Cannot wait to try this... I'm still looking for my socks ;-)

  • Sure, and Rachael Ray copied Freeport, Bahamas that has made this dish for 100's of years. Oh wait, maybe Rachael Ray invented Cauliflower too...She probably also discovered America and she was most likely the one who originally sliced bread. She for sure must have been the one who invented the wheel too.....

  • Rachel ray is 10000x's more annoying...a lot of TV chefs talk like that...its called having personality.

  • Mashed cauliflower is a great healthy alternative to potatoes but margarine or other polyunsaturated fats are not "clean" swaps for butter. Soybean, canola, and corn oils are not "natural" and our bodies are not designed to consume them no matter what the profiteers of these products say on their labels. For everyones health please do not promote these oils over healthy, natural butter.

  • mvflyhalf - I myself am a work in progress when it comes to learning all of the ins and outs of nutritious eating/cooking, etc.

    I completely agree with you and think this is a great point! It took me a bit of time to wrap my head around all of the conflicting info out there on healthy fats and fat "substitutes" BUT now a days, if I want to use butter, I use real butter... no substitutions.

    I address this point on my blog, but since this is an older video it reflects some of my past beliefs.

  • There's a lot of conflicting health info out there and it takes a lot of time and effort to discern what info is credible and what isn't. As a society that over values consumption and commodification, it's unfortunate but not surprising that a lot of the nutrition and health information our society accepts tends to keep big agra healthy but not it's consumers. Glad to hear you are staying perceptive and open minded to health and nutrition. As our society demonstrates, it's easier not to.

  • I tried this tonight. I didn't use the yogurt and I actually put it into my blender instead. Also I used garlic powder instead and the kids couldn't even tell that it wasn't potatoes. They absolutely LOVED it! Thank you so much for posting this wonderful recipe.
