its mostly for hunting big african game like elephant, and cape buffalo, but a gun that is smaller will do the job just fine this is more of a range queen that is a gun for showing off, its really expensive, and a military rifle like a barret or a mcmillan is cheaper, really there are soo many larger rounds like 444 marlin, or 416 wetherby, that will do the job well that such a big gun like the 700 is way overkill and way too expensive to be practical for such hunts.
