yep thats a marlin alright. the size is a giveaway. same with his back sail is small. sailfish have long ones from their head all the way down their back. plus their bodies  are usually smaller.

@excell420 nope, it's a female Swordfish. The dorsal fin is the giveaway, on a Marlin they extend further toward the tail. On this Swordfish you can see that is not a feature. Male Swordfish are smaller and therefore this one is a female.

That swordfish is raddled, in deep cold water his eye-brain heat generator could be screwed up by being wedged head first in the steel bars. Swiming in circles, unstable will invite any shark to come and dine.

Oil rigs are great places for all kinds of bait fish and predators....sometimes shit happens

I would imagine the aux. lighting is blinding the fish. Swordfish are not stupid, eyes are HIGHLY sensitive to light, remember he lives in the dark.... jmy2cts.

Yeah, it's hilarious that it immediately swam back into the equipment!

I'm surprised that there was even approval given by the company executives to attempt to pull the fish out. I would expect that those cµnts would prefer to let the fish stay there even if it meant certain death, rather that risk the negative publicity of a possibly-unsuccessful rescue.

It is a swordfish, the dorsal fin doesn't extends trought the back, like the blue/black/stripped marlin. The withe marlin is the only marlin wich the dorsal fin doesn't extends trought the back, but it has a round shape, unlike this fish....

deffinatly a sword you can tell at 33 sec in by how long the bill is. I could tell once i saw how silver it was though. Never see a marlin that silver.
