@bluerobotz Thanks! That's a 1/8 shank carbide single flute. I'm running a different collect set that goes down to 1/8. It can do 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 and 1/8
Did that come with your die grinder or is it an extra accessory? I've been looking for something like that for a while now, but it seems they're not available for my router.
The reason you have cleaner cuts on the interior features than on the profile is because of your direction of travel. You are climb milling the pockets and conventional milling the outer profile.
I just started cutting aluminum, do you always cut in the climb direction? Need some advice on milling aluminum not my area of expertise some help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Mike
Thank you very much for all the great videos! One idea for a video is lubrication of the linear rails and ball screws as well as dust-oil mix problems.
Awesome job been following you for some time and have been build a router myself just got first run out of the way and uploaded video but I have a long way to go, Thanks for all the great videos !!!
that is super sexy, I really wish I would get back to making my machine but I have been looking at it more and more and have determined I have to basically start over...I want the quality that you have and want to cut Alu more and more now...LOL keep up the great work
I think you've got the rigidity of your gantry really good with the modifications you've made. I think I get more vibration on my SX3 mill than you had on your router.
One thing I tend to do when cutting aluminum is to cut the holes first, then pause and put in appropriate size bolts/screws to hold the piece down for the rest of the cuts. You need to make sure that the heads won't interfere with your cuts, but it saves having to use tabs or worry about the work breaking loose at the end.
@devers6 Excellent advice. Thanks for pointing that out. Especially allowing clearance for the screw head. I ran into that problem recently and now have a flat top phillips head screw to show for it. Happy Holidays.
Which program was used to plan the Gcode ? Seems to be smart.

Nice cutting! What is the shank size of your tool? 1/4" or do you have some sort of collet adapter?

Very Nice. The spindle router is also impressive. I'm going to have to buy one and make a toolholder clamp for my bridgeport. The RPMs are great.
