That bat thing scared the crap out of my little brothers! I had no clue this game would go from skeletons riding motorcycles to scary-faced bat dudes with red eyes!
This was a true Castlevania game. The 64 games were the first to transition the series over from liner gameplay to backtracking gameplay, in my opinion.
Well then use SotN as your introductory game. Both were great games in my opinion. The only problem I have with SotN is that it's placed too soon after the events of Dracula X/Bordello of Blood. Maria went from being a small girl to a full grown woman in just five years.
but i expected that this game was good, since this was my first casltevania game and i heard so much good about the series. But it just dissapointed me
I loved this game, and part 1 and 2 were some of the most memorable parts of the game for me. Skeletons, Giant Skeleton, Vampires, Holy Water, lol so fun. Great to see this again.
Anyone ever notice that, in the room with the second vampire (with the mirror on the wall), the table and chairs just sort of disappear once the battle begins?
i remember playing this when the n64 first came out and its freeking amazing, the music gives the game so much atmosphere. This is my second fav. after super castlevania IV for the super nintendo
IMO, this was the best stage in the entire game, i was a little sad that none of the other stages that came after it were able to top it off, maybe the castle center or clock tower, but this stage still has that old Castlevania feel to it.
It's been so long since I played it... I believe after you first beat the game, you get access to the hard mode... after beating it on hard, I believe you get access to this costume... I'm about 75% confident that's how you get it.
yeah, my favorite castlevania game was definitely dawn of sorrow, and i remember i played this game, the 3D one, but was young, so coudnt understand it, before it was like, kill every monster, and thats how i did through the game. i am 14 by the way, and when i say kid, i refer to 7 years. but personally dawn of sorrow is the best.

sotn was released before this

Yeah, but I said transition the series over to the backtracking style. I don't mean that it introduced us to that style. It blended the two styles.
The first Castlevania game to introduce us to backtracking gameplay was Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
cv 2 is crap so it doesnt count

The maze part reminds me of Resident Evil 4. The gate, the dogs and this chainsaw guy look nearly the same.
