@imadsaidbhai put it in the computer cd drive, isntall it with a hack that can be gotten on like any torrent site, install the correct drivers. Google is your friend. I'd just go with ubuntu, btws.

Dont get me wrong i myself ordered a mac. But why did apple choose for a leopard with blood on his mouth?

No joke I got 33 gigs back and i did the update installation and everything feels faster and smoother. Snow Leopard took about an hour to install and everything works great and apps like iPhoto open a lot faster! Great job Apple!

Dude I got like 50Gb back. But there is an explanation for that. with Mac OS X Leopard that OS thinks 1Gb=1,000Mb. With Mac OS X Snow leopard it correctly thinks 1Gb=1,024Mb . This is a big plus!

I got snow leopard the day it came out and I was greatly satisfied. My gb went from 112 to 119 my os went from 10.4 to 10.6 I got a lot of cool features and my mac feels like a brand new comp. My friend got it on his mac and his memory went from 236 to 265 gb. amazing.... well worth the 30 bucks

When you upgrade OS X Leopard to OS X Snow Leopard

Does that delete your current os x leopard files?

Or do I need a Time Machine to back-up my files?

it won't. it just overwrite the existing OS files and that's all.

you can do an upgrade that will just upgrade your OS and it wont touch your settings, files etc.

Or you can do erase and install which will totally wipe your disk and install snow leopard.

Yes it does. It will overwrite the Leopard Operating System with Snow Leopard. It should leave your apps and data in-tact although any incompatible apps will be moved.

I'm a heavy user I guess, but I never use anything too processor intensive. The most memory and CPU intensive thing I do is leave Safari open with a lot of windows (memory leaks). I can always add an external HD and more RAM to upgrade it I guess. So this iMac is fast enough for anything I'd use on it, like Photoshop, Games, Garageband, etc.

I had a hackintosh before. Really complicated when using old computers (like I did) but eventually got them to work out of dumb luck. Never works again so I have to put Windows or Linux on them. I don't like it because they're is too many distros to choose from os osx86 and stuff. However you can buy a working hackintosh. Just google it!

They got sued a while ago there called phystar, i have a hackintosh took a while to get working but worth it, osx claims my computer as a macpro xD

yeah I know. They still sell them though. And I've made a hackintosh before, but it's hard to set up. It couldn't determine my computer modem, but I've seen tiny netbooks running osx86 identified as a 'mac pro' lol!

I admit that Snow Leopard is a really good OS, but it just doesn't fit my needs. OS X is beautiful, sure, but Windows 7 (which I'm using now) also has a very beautiful interface and well... it runs all the applications I need.

My sister loves it though.

People that have Leopard already can get Snow Leopard for $29. Theres no different models like Windows, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Economy, Ultimate, Super Ultimate, ULTRA ULTIMATE, etc.
