A totally different extended version was being played in the big clubs in NYC, I remember it having a LONG instrumental introduction, about 5 minutes before the vocals even begins. Much more experimental like PIL.

Mudman1881 is right, in the lyrics it mentions the Lares shrine that was in every Roman's home. Damn, just read the lyrics...if you know ANYTHING of Pompeii or seen the History channel it should be obvious.
