it is definitely worth it, and it is not even that much trouble, it only took about 10-15 minutes to dissasemble it, and a few more to reassemble. You can just spray in a closed clock, but its not as effective and doesnt reach all the pieces. also, a big part of my problem was the imperfections in the plastic that I sanded down.
is this the only way to make a nice clock?

I don't like the tape on the clock though, It looks ugly.

I hardly notice it anymore. You can always use a small amount of modeling glue if you dont like the tape.
