He is trying and slowly does reach him, and its this kind of "testing" that Damon's character does, that all youth do with adults, they test how far they can go, in terms of demanding respect and earning it.

This is one of the greatest films to come out of the States recently. It just blew me away. I remember seeing the start in a Hotel in Australia and being totally captivated but had to check out. Arghhh! The film wasn't available for general release until several (long) months later and I it ASAP after that.

Williams, Affleck and Damon are just superb.

Every now and then Hollywood throws away the 'safe' formula and makes real art. Top stuff.
