Another montrealer comin round just to say this basicaly is the authentic poutine, simple.. amazing, and as he said... use fucking cheese curds damnit
@MrElvisgratton Use frozen or fresh. I don't really care. Your eating it. Oh, and it's my way of doing things not the right or proper way. Read the word 'style', dummy! That means not authentic, now go grab me a beer.
problems: i undercooked my fries because i was eager, i made my gravy too thick and they dont sell cheese curds anywhere near my house, but it was still awesome

Now, if it were REAL Montreal Poutine you would have made homemade fries. But i'm sure you know that! My husband is French Canadian and Poutine is awesome!
The best drunk food by far, and this is 100000% quebecois! Apparently the best one ever us "La Banquise" in Montreal, I have yet to try that one. Btw, if the curds don't squeak in your mouth, you're doing it wrong!
Australia does not have this type of cheese and the closest i can use is bocchini cherry size cheese. Im going to give it a try today. Also i will look about for a cheese maker and see if they can produce curds.
@Lostrochette What makes you think you have the right to an opinion? Shut your cakehole and eat what I put on the table or I'll put the work boots to ya and send your stupid ass to bed without anything!
@papercuts777 Holy sweet flying fuck !!! I was just gonna ask about a poutine request from you and found this one. I'll have to try this crazy shit one day. Too bad good skunk bud is easier to find than cheese curds here...well..not really a bad thing..you know what I'm sayin'
You don't; like; throw it under the broiler to melt the cheese? I see on the right Version 2.0 so I will have to go and check that out... I'm still thinking it didn't hit the broiler but lets see what's under door number 2 ;)
@gerald2003r It's never done under a broiler although you could if you watched it close. Usually, it's just 'capped' for a second or three and let the cheese just start to melt
Hmmm - not sure about this. Never heard of it until my Canadian friend raved about it. So it's basically chips and gravy (like we eat in England) but you use curd cheese as well? What does curd cheese taste like? Does it mix and melt with the gravy??
@Rachiejane1 Yes, they melt a bit into the gravy. Curds are quite salty but too delicious to worry about. Ya just gotta try it. It's addictive. Been hooked for decades!
@papercuts777 I kind of want to try it as I love chips with gravy and cheesy chips. Not sure if I can get hold of curd cheese though...might have a look and see if I can find it so I can try it for myself...Cheers x
Love poutine, my favorite food. I gotta find that gravy powder though, where you buy it (yes I live in Montreal)? Though when I make or buy it I eat twice that amount, family size poutine at la belles or at costco for me!
Between Poutine and subsidized health care, I love my country!! Poutine with a thick, juicy burger "my way", and I'm a happy boy. You wish you lived in canada? Make the dream happen! come on over!
i bought a bag of St. Albert's cheese curds last week. they were delicious. the art of making poutine has indeed turned into a travesty. not only is it near impossible to find poutine made with cheese curds, but, most places don't even use real cheese anymore...instead, they slather on cheap, oil-based shredded mozerella-wannabe crap - and then drown it in the cheapest gravy, which usually has the worst aftertaste...that it, if it has any flavour at all. nothing but a big, soggy mess!
Look here, I don't want to do this cuz Cuts would probably slap the shit outta' me for speakin' up for him, but you clearly don't know what you are talking about. Respectfully, give people more credit, than you do thinking on shit before you talk shit on a man. Don't let the act fool ya', it's all part of the game...
