This definitely makes Toskala look bad, which he is, but this wasn't totally his fault. The ice is absolutely terrible and took the strangest bounce at the worst moment.

Toskala definitely should have put his whole body in front of it and just blocked it like a catcher stopping a pitch in the dirt, though.

it's hard to stop a bouncing puck. Don't try and glove or stop with your stick a bouncing puck, as u will let in a 197 foot shop like Toskala just did. Get in front of it in the butterfly position.

This just looks bad because he's so close to his net - but what about the goalies who go behind the net, and the puck bounces off the glass partitions and goes in? Its the same thing, but a different bounce.

Those are impossible. Since pucks are not ball-shaped they take ridiculous bounces sometimes. This could have happened to many goaltenders. The thing is, he was trying to make a play on the puck (glove it down, then shoot play to a d-man), not stop it, and he wasn't anticipating the last bounce. He took a risk, and it came back to bite him - Playing the odds doesn't make you a bad goalie, it actually makes you better.

Do I play goalie? I have. But I don't play in the NHL, and neither do you. My main position is defense, and anyone, just anyone who has any experience with hockey can tell you what I just told you. If bouncing pucks are so "incredibly hard to stop", why do you only see these long range goals on blooper reels? That's right, because they are easy to stop.

Total accidental bounce. It's one of those things that happens very very rarely and has happened to me. It takes a jump to the right just as he moves to catch it. Poor guy.
