For those wondering what it's about. Try listen to it as a conversation between someone losing faith and god/jesus.
Of course the symbolism of religion goes hand in hand with that of love or even war, I find many strung out songs can be viewed in all 3 perspectives, and it can really change your view of a song when you listen to it with a different meaning in mind.
I think that saying its about a crush is a little over simplistic.
I think the misconnection is really what hes elaborating on. Not really the romantic side of it.
The significant other and himself are torn apart by different states of mind, whether that be drugs, life events, social pressures, whatever. They are star crossed. Hes singing about the endless cycle of breaking down the barriers that keep people apart, and the hopelessness he hopes to overcome.
Awesome song... can't wait to see 'em live again in MAY!!!!! Super stoked for this show! Looking for a group of people from T.O to go...anyone wanna join us? let me know.
So sad. On the surface it's just awesome, but the grief of wanting something that will never be is ripe within the song. It's like the "Layla" of our generation. Was this song written about anyone specific in one of the band members' lives?
@vandalsluvr if you've ever sung in a band you'd probably understand it takes a shitload out of you especially with music this intense, you are prone to being very un sociable after lol
Oh. I didn't know this was a popularity contest. So he has to be a nice guy in order to make good music? I bet you that there are many people in many bands that aren't very nice... So did you want him to take you in the back room and give you a little somethin' extra or what? Why don't you elaborate on his "true" colors before you go spreading ambiguous rumors of shit.....
I had the opposite impression of him. I thought he was a super sweet guy. He even pulled me up on stage at the Elmo. I *heart* Strung Out! Best band ever! Their lyrics actually have substance to them, not just meaningless crap a lot of other bands just throw together. I guess everyone has their bad days, doesn't necessarily mean they are assholes.
yeah! WTF! geez, maybe his DOG DIED? huh? and he didn't wanna perform that day caause he was sad? GOD have some heart! he didn't have a choice, the SHow was scheduled so he had to do it, while he didn't want to, or you ashsoles woulda HAted him and his band! ,eh? what a fuckin JOKE ! lol. :D i'm one of those dudes that come son Youtube and gets mad at losers bahahahaha loser
Lol... you are so right! I love your last sentence! Sometimes I can't stop laughing at the fucking idiots who argue over stupid shit...just listen to the damn music and shut the hell up already!!!
In my opinion its about the perspective of a potential lover. These two people are missing the link of communication, and if they would just get it out, things would go good between them and perhaps a relationship could ensue. Because they are holding back, neither one of them will get anywhere with the "relationship".
So your saying it's about two people who like eachother but won't say anything to each other and therefore they can't get anywhere cause there both too shy to tell the other person? hmm that actually makes a lot of sense....Nice job on that one ! :]
@vandalsluvr for some reason i feel that it is about miscommunication, but not necessarily in a relationship. i see alot of references to the fact that people consider retaining their opinions intact and trying to convince others of them, but dont see why it is necessarily about a relationship
love this band, till I hit it. xxx

Yep...love it. Technically it's not a "new" album, considering it's mostly unreleased or redone songs, but ya, it's new to me!

Thanks! Yeah, I think thats what its about. Mostly due to the fact that he keeps making mention of their future (Dont let me down i gotta know
if something good could grow out on this rock) and (a silhouette of you and me
just negetive space and time) I chalk it up to personal experience. A true "song of miscommunication" if there ever was one.
