  • We do this with our gas dryer. The C02 has made our 9 year old girl, Suzy, talk funny, especially when she doesn't put her teeth in, and me and the misses get a little "stoned" from the lack of oxygen, but we love the extra heat and the cost savings. Our pet dawg just loves to chase the sock as we set it up like a Water Wiggle. If he weren't blind and deaf, he'd probably catch the sock a lot more. Yeeee haw!!!

  • they make an adapter for this, so you dont have to change it all the time, i put one up today, works well

  • to sum up this video so you don't hear someone's life story. he disconnects the dryer hose from the outlet vent that goes outside, and puts a tube sock on it and recommends changing it once a week if you do laundry daily.

  • 9 minutes...for a tube sock...wtf

  • If you air condition in the summer, move the dryer outside.

  • Good thinking!

  • (try bending a wire hanger to use in the sock to keep it open for airflow)

  • Love the concept! I actually thought of this very same concept for my dryer a few weeks ago, but my dryer heats with gas, therefore would pump out carbon dioxide into my house, so I decided that wasn't happening! Not that co2 is poisonous, but because of the slight risk of there being carbon monoxide if the exhaust restriction causes the burn to be incomplete. I'm currently planning a heat exchange system to extract the heat from the exhaust on its way out.

  • But I'm having another thought: wouldn't this make the dryer motor work harder because you're throttling the "exhaust" here? Not good for the motor.

  • Good idea. Thanks

  • great video!..great idea...im doing similar.....i used a 5 gallon bucket and cut a 4 inch hole in the middle of the lid for the dryer hose...then i cut 5 2 inch holes around the larger hole. put one gallon of water in the 5 gallon bucket to catch the lent.....(blowing the hot air down into the water)...we dont run heat accept in the early morning before the kids get up.

  • cool... this makes so much sense!

that power meter is crankin! pay that power bill!!!!
