Great job on explaining this, Marty! I would recommend this as the first fingerpicking song to any guitar player new to it. It only really has two chords and the finger pattern is simple and doesn't change throughout the song. Plus it's a really beautiful song :P

I went and bought a Johnson, I've been trying to play this song for weeks now, but when tuning my guitar to what it's suppose to be (through a device the guitar guy sold me) it doesn't sound like "Dust In The Wind" any longer. What am I doing wrong?

@armaandua to you and all the rest who want to learn the whole song. Look for the chords on the internet (very basic mostly) and play the song by strumming. Once you find your playing is generally working out simply try to apply the fingerpicking pattern which you learned here to those chords. It's not 100% of the original song (of course there are a few details) but maybe 97% of it. ;-)
