  • i Have a 92 single cab intercooled cummins i rotated my feul pump to advance the timingand turned up the pump and it still wont black smoke like that and its straight pipe dump what gives lol

    They'd be 235/85R16 E tires, that's what they all came from the factory with. Ford wheels will fit on these trucks, and are a better wheel being hub-centric, where the stockers aren't.

  • @theredneckpothead its auto and i did all the pump adjustments myself so it was free.

  • is everything stock on the truck. i ask because i just bought one and i cant hear the turbo at all

  • you have to take out the turbo silencer

  • there is no turbo silencer on these turbos unless some one put the newer turbo in it. but mine doesnt. what did u do to tweek ur settings on the pump

  • at the time of this video...full power screw was all the way in, starwheel bottomed, smoke screw bottomed, and stock fuel pin ground. and straight piped exhaust.

  • Open exhaust and a big air filter with short intake will do wonders for your problem. I have a custom intake on my 93 with 3 inches of pipe between, and 5 inch custom turbo back exhause and it's all I hear, aside from that wonderful engine noise :) :)

  • depends on how you drive..if your foot is in it all the time then mpg isnt that good but if you drive pretty decent then mpg is good

  • I put a number 6 fuel plate, pump wide open, and a set on 150 hp injectors in my 97, and i have pretty close to that..

  • Get you some injectors and if you really want smoke then id go for some New era diesel 6x8s or 6x9s and you will be set!!! if you want to go the extra mile Chris Block make a 14mm head for the VEs and then you will really be rollin coal! i had all that done to my 93 and it was badass then i P-pumped it and the smoke was ungodly i got 3 letters in one week from the city saying i was putting out too much smoke and would be cited if i was caught and my truck would get impounded! hahahaha!

  • not bad for a siple pump tweak get ya some pod injectors and a 14mm pump head and you will be in business.

  • I read that you can adjust the fuel pump on the 12 valve but not a 24 valve. Do you know if this is true? How about a common rail? Is it hard to adjust the fuel pump?

  • only on the 89-93(1st gen cummins) can you adjust the pump....pretty much 94 and up you just buy a programmer

  • '94-98 have the P7100 injection pump, which like our VE pumps, is completely mechanical. The 2nd gen 12 valve is the engine to get for a high performance truck.

    '98.5 and up trucks have programs available for them.

  • you can adjust the mechanical injection pumps which are up to 97 when they switched to 24 valve and alot of computer crap.

    if you check my latest vid you can see i now have a 91.5 4x4 and i was wondering if you have yours lifted at all to clear the 37's i want to get hummer military tires because they are so cheap and they only come in 36's or 37's

  • i lifted my truck with sky jackers 4 inch lift and then installed bushwackers cut out flares because i got tired of the 37 inch tires rubbing on the inner fender well. did you want to see pics to kinda get an idea of what i did?

  • your not kidding, I can get 4 52in. military tires for $350 on ebay. 1 54in. Super Swamper Bogger would run me $700. One guy even told me that when it comes to traction the Super Swamper Bogger doesnt even come close to the military tires. This one seems like a no brainer if you are on a budget.

  • @southerndiesels......haha the TSL BOGGERS are the top of the line mud tire....the military Michillan tires are not even close for traction comparance

  • the spool difference was alot quicker and egt's dropped qquit a bit compared to the stock 3 inch. my 4 inch kit is going to be ready to pick up tuesday and i have custom built my own 8.5 inch tip out of a banks muffler off a 6.2 chevy with a banks side winder turbo set up.

  • just driving normally you might not notice..but romping on the throttle you should notice the difference in power

  • man you could do so many more mods, like grinding the fuel plate and turning up the ve-pump screw yourself and make anoter 100 or so hp. 12 valves are so simple and AWESOME!

  • I love how Cummins engines and fuel pumps are so easy to work with! Their reliable and powerful. I like all the big three co.'s diesels, but Cummins always seem to have that edge.

  • ya i love fords 7.3's and the new 6.4's power allthough they soundl iek shit they will run Hard with a tuner never was much of a dodge truck fan but i love cummins so that makes up for it they sound so much better got the power and mileage and they last forever so does the 7.3 tho =)..

  • @MPLSTORM...the old 12vlaves are nice but i bet he's only a littleover 300hp.....if this guy put this up against my brothers 05 duramax which has the lly motor an has 4" straight no muffler an is EFI Live tuned an lays 13's in the 1/4 mile....this cummins has no chance...but this is a nice old truck...i got a 93 cummins with 4" lift an 35's reg. cab

  • When you talked numbers you should talk torque, I own duramaxs and I prefer them over my powerstrokes, but I drive my Cummins and HEMIs the most.

  • @MPLSTORM....well i think my brothers is 550 something for hp an 8 something for torque...i'm not to sure on numbers but i can check but still he's runnin stock turbo injectors an fuel pump an just put the efi live to it an hes always had big pipe...but he runs mid 13's with it

  • so you went from 300 horsepower to 550 horsepower? lol thats cool. Not bad. But a Cummins is the ultimate diesel, the pistons are double the size of duramax and powerstroke, hence it being 6 big cylinders, instead of 8 small ones.

  • @MPLSTORM....hahaha ya its nice for hp but i think you should check on piston sizes lol the duramax pistons are bigger then the cummins pistons....5.9L to a 6.6L the 6.6 will have bigger ones an they do

  • @MPLSTORM......just because the cummions has 6 cylinders doesn't mean there big ones...lol...an the duramax pistions are bigger then the cummins....even go on line an look the sizes up you'll see the cummins pistons are smaller then the duramax's pistons....

I own Cummins and Duramax and seen both in pieces in the garage, the Cummins pistons are like twice the size of the Duramax and the Powerstroke, thats a fact. oh and your an idiot everyone knows this about Cummins, the pistons are Huge, thats why theyre able to get such big power out of only 6 cyl.

  • @MPLSTORM...i own a 96 12 valve an my brother has a 05 duramax an his pistons are bigger but anyways everyone has their own opinions on stuff an no need to argue.....an the cummins diesel is a very lazy diesel it takes big hp to make it preppy cause they take to long to spool up but with any diesel if you want big hp an reliable an a long lastin motor it takes lot of money

  • No your pistons are bigger in a Cummins thats not an opinion. How do you think they get such raw power out of only 6 cyl? because those 6 cyl are fuckin double the size of the duramax, powerstoke. i own all three diesels and the Cummins has the biggest

  • @MPLSTORM close but not quite a 5.9 cummmins is 360ci out of 6 cyl a duramax is 6.6 so 400ci out of 8 so they would have about the same size piston just less cylinders and where a straight six shines is in pulling thats why trucks have them and they own everybody else

  • @mitch509768 Us "big" trucks have inline engines for the sheer fact of trying to squeeze a V8 under the hood of a modern day rig just won't happen. The trucks were getting more and more aerodynamic, reducing the engine compartment. The V8 Macks and detroits were making 400 - 500+ horsepower back in their time...Imagine a V8 mack with today's techmology. The biggest Cummins only makes 600HP (ISX 600 signature series) and the BIG cat (C15) makes 625HP.

    well even if the cylinders are bigger it still has only 6 of them, while the Dmax and PSD have 8. so displacement wise, the 5.9 Cummins is the smallest diesel ever put in a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup. Ford- 6.9, 7.3, 6.0, 6.4, 6.7 Chevy- 6.2, 6.5, 6.6 Dodge- 5.9, 6.7. look at the numbers and find the smallest one. oh and btw, I am ignoring the 5.7 Chevy diesel, that wasnt worthy to be called a diesel.

  • @EasternAggie 5.7 diesel was never put in a 3/4 ton or 1 ton because GM knew she wouldnt hold lol. theres even a huge warning in the trucks manual that says"do not tow with trucks equipted with the 5.7 diesel or the warrenty will be voided" i lol'd at that. i have a 6.2 and 5.9 and absolutely love both of them. the 6.2' for its badass sound and underdog feeling, and then the 5.9 for its sheer power and sounding like a tractor lol.

    hmm i dont know i consider a slightly tweaked (plate and AFC work) 12 valve pretty peppy. but ditto on your last point. you can modify a diesel to make power pretty easy, but doing it right, and to where the motor will last, takes time and money.

  • @EasternAggie ....ya but those rotory pumps are so expensive to make hp out of...my 95 or 96 12 valve is easier to make 500hp

  • @MPLSTORM actually you are very wrong, in fact d-max pistons are bigger....the pistons bore on a 5.9 L 12 valve cummins are 4.02 inches, the bore on a duramax cylinder is 4.06 inches...that is why cummins is greater than competition =)

  • You should get an exhaust temperature guage, it is very easy to melt pistons when you turn up injection pumps
