Thanks to ubuntu the last time i used a proprietary (windows and OSX) OS was over 9 months ago. I recommend anyone who hasn't done so try it :)
I've also had a play with Fedora (didn't like much) and gentoo (very good, but a lot of work) but ubuntu is my favorate at the moment for its completeness, minimal default install and ease of use + it is the only os that have ever properly supported all my hardware (that includes windows, even after hours of installing drivers)
worked with debian and ubuntu for quite some time, even Xandros, Fedora Core, PC-BSD,etc. Mandrake 10.0 was my first linux distro I tried in spring of 2004, any builds after including mandriva, which they named because of connectiva. Spent a week customizing gentoo, then I was inspired to alter Mandriva, in which the system is very superior to other distro's :)
I have ubuntu since the release of feisty. well i'm still a noob but its much better than xp and the 3d desktop with compiz and all its effects are also 100 times better than vista's -and all with an intel shared on board graphiccard.
If there would be a more "professional" video editing program I would completely delet my xp partition. but i need it to cut my videos (which you can see on youtube xD)
DONT READ THIS! In 1997 a girl called lauren was walikng in a forest and then a she just dissapeared no one ever found her untill 2000 when a yoing girl called Mary found her body and markings on her chest saying: I wasnt pretty enough" and now you have read this she will appear in your mirror saying your not pretty enough and kill you. by the way the girl called mary died shortly after. To be saved paste this to 5 other videos. THIS TRUE
Yeah, you see, All this "in-talk", feisty fawn, well that just puts people off straight away. To joe public, Linux is weird enuff without all this "geek-speak". Just say fresh release 6.1 6.2 whatever. I really want to learn linux but man, you gals make it so hard. How do I connect my router??
No, they're code-names. There are release numbers. Dapper drake = 6.06, edgy eft = 6.10, feisty fawn = 7.04, etc. To connect your router, plug it in...

Hello mate,
There is quite a few programs you can use to edit/cut your videos!
I would suggest you start by looking at Kino, but there is PLENTY of other software out there that will let you do what you need.
Hope this helps!

yes I tried kino and jakasha(or what it is called)
but unfortunatelly my magix video deluxe for xp is a lot better(but costs a lot too:-( )
but i will keep on trying out opensource programs
but thanks !
