I could elaborate on my thoughts on this more deeeply but its a "secret"..no pun intended either.however i will add that since the music changed so abruptly,the fasion etc..all became so dull and what not..after such a rise of such beauty and distinction with each person(everyone in a club with there own look) now in the 90s up..everyone with the same cloths and style. of course..it was never about what others did..but about what you do...anyways..i know whats going on...take the beauty from..

@marshallsimon OMD sound nothing like the african beats and staccato singing of Thompson Twins who are good but have an insect-like sound on many songs. OMD are etheral, historical, futuristic and have a brill singing style. 'King For A Day' borders on embarrassment. If that sounds like OMD's 'Secret' then U2 sound like Big Country! And Madonna sounds like Kim Wilde-i.e great-only she doesn't-cos she's bad! And Spamhead Ballet sound like Duran! (God they wish-more like bleeding Madness!)

I just wanna thank mr.aardvark down there for being as incredibly as original as OMD and 'Secret' is by calling it one of his all time fave songs ever! OMD purists seem to think that other more experimental ones should be above it and that even if you aren't such a fan, you should go for the obvious 'Enola Gay' or 'Locomotion'. That's almost as bad as telling me that only 'You Came', 'You Keep Me Hangin'On' and 'Kids in US@ BY thegr8 Kim Wilde are worth noting cos everyone knows them!

Being such an incredibly brilliant (yet simple) and original song, shockingly, I have NEVER found this song on any 80's compilation CD, and there are thousands of them! "Secret" holds the most intensely awesome memories for me of a totally magical time in my life. I'm not a huge OMD fan, but this is one of my all-time favorite songs of ANY era and it is in my top 50 favorite songs of all time. Keep in mind there are trillions of songs out there, and at my age, I've heard most of them ;-)
