  • this version is from the soundtrack of Carl Sagans Cosmos

  • God I hope aliens listen to music.

  • omg awesome

  • This is Tomita's masterpiece IMHO, but this isn't quite the original recording (the original is 12 minutes long, and mixed a bit differently). Where did you get this one from?

  • What astral body IS that at 4:54????

  • @DrLeavingsoon This is a colour composite of the The Helix Nabula or NGC 7293

  • @125RTY I know the previous image before 4:52 is the Helix Nebula, but I don't recognise the following image at 4:52 to 4:57. It's spectacular

  • @DrLeavingsoon • This is a picture of the Unicorn or horn part of the Triffid nebula, (M20or NGC6514), it was taken by the Hubble telescope. This nebula was discovered by Charles Messier on June 5, 1764. There are two other beautiful nebulas, the Pillars of Creation and the Eagle Nebula.

  • @125RTY I want to clarify the last sentence. It should say the pillars of creation in the Eagle Nebula.

  • Tomita did a great interpritation here, very atmospheric

  • I prefer this version to Bachs original. I bet a lot of people stop this vid before it gets to the main tune. Excellent combination of images and music.

  • It Reminded Me The Planet-Ocean Named "Solaris" By Film Of Andrei Tarkovsky (Solaris, 1972)

    Thank You!

  • @bah1mas If you read the notes off the "Kosmos" album from which this song is from, Tomita states that the Tarkovsky film is the source of inspiration for this song.

  • It Reminded Me The Planet-Ocean Named "Solaris" By Film Of Andrei Tarkovsky (Solaris, 1972)

    Thank You!

  • very disturbing images

  • This is one of my favorite tracks.

  • I first hear this song ( actually an excerpt from it ) on the original PBS broadcast of Cosmos when I was young. ( 1978 or so ) and I've been a fan of his work ( Tomita ) ever since.

  • Me too, what's the name of the artist of the pictures? Very bizarre and intriguing.

  • I repeat classyfunny's question. what's name of artists?

  • As an artist myself, I would really like to know the name of the artworks and artists of the incredible fantasy images up till 2:45. They are incredibly inspirational and wonderfully majestic! Simply awesome!!! Please let me know.

  • @classyfunny beginning at about 1:30 we start seeing the fantastic art of the legendary artist and author Wayne Douglas Barlowe, where we see images inside his hellish "Inferno"

  • Thank you! Any info on the other artists before that?

  • if you like this you must hear the version that contains the theme from "Ich Ruf'zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ".......For some reason it's not in this version, and i think it's the best part. The version of Tomita's "Sea named Solaris" that i have which contains the mentioned theme, is from a tomita album titled "Bach Fantasy".

  • My grandad introduced me to Isao Tomita when I was about 10, this album was the first one I listened to, this always reminds me of him. Absolutely beautiful music.

  • Wow, what beautiful memories to connect with such incredible music . . .

  • @deviantrake yeah, I listened to Tomita before I even knew who Michael Jackson or Elton John was in the late 70's.

  • Soberbia adaptación del genio Isao Tomita para la obra de otro genio J.S. Bach

Superb adaptation of the genius Isao Tomita for the masterwork of another genius J.S. Bach

  • @Max1baL

Whats the song that Bach did that he adapted?

  • @Max1baL Tú sabes de música. Hace dos años escribiste eso, pero si estuvieras por acá todavía, me gustaría que me hicieras el favor de recomendarme artistas o canciones. ¡Gracias!

  • A great pity we don't hear this more often.

  • I do not care why you posted this--I love the imagery you picked, and I adore Tomita's music. Bravo!

  • Well...it's Bach's music, my friend (at least in this case).

  • Yes, I know--point taken :-D I love Tomita's RENDITION of it, and the style that is all his own. So, if anyone could make people love the music of Bach even more--he could.
