@Ottobon Belt throwing on vairs was from wrong size belt, or improperly tensioned belts. Most people overtighten and they break or throw. The right belt, tensioned properly will stay on.
@jamacadada very true, had mine coming off as it was too tight...it will probably vary from car to car, but a few people I have talked to and me agree that when the car is cold, you should be able to move the alternator with a bit more than dead weight on your finger, what most ignore is that as the engine runs, the tension increases and the belt gets tighter, over do it and it pops. Not to mention how hard it is on the bearings. Good belt a must, too.
thats awesome i didnt think corvairs could rev that high 4:02 have a 01 eclipse GT that doesnt rev that high thats awesome i also have a 69 corvair that i am gonna be using parking lot racing in between the cones keep checking my page threw out the summer and also check out my dads page a he has a 63 spyder turbo. His page is corvairjunkyard he has a walkaround a quick turbo run in his spyder
im looking into buying a 61, but it needs a motor like that, what did you do to it?
