It is amazing to see how much China has improved the life its ordinary people. Chinese government is truly a people oriented government that put the welfare of people at first priority. All infrastructure plan is to improve the stand of living for the ordinary people first. I think this is better than the empty word of so-called democracy and freedom imposed upon on China and Chinese people. Sustainable level economic development and good standard of living is the essential for everything.
@wikct2 whether it is democracy or communism it doesn't mean anything China uses the one party system to keep organisation consistent and UNITY of the Chinese people by that definition and other important parameter is STABILITY. China does enjoy freedom in their own rights as long as it does not compromise China's stability. At the end of the day it is "how you run the country" regardless of political system. Scholars need to re-write politics as China has changed the economic & political model.
@wikct2 I find it unfathomable how you could could come out with such unprecedented bullshit, You are either poorly educated or simply a complete moron.
eventually this is going to replace the airlines or compete with it. when you get somthing traveling just as fast for half the price its going to bring some competion
@airr916 Being a specialized engineer doesn't prevent your pursuits in your interested fields. My father was an Aeronautic engineer similar to you, on designing of aircraft structure and final testing 20 more years ago, but now a Mechanical automation engineer. His experience was stick to your study plan, do it well, then spend SPARE time on the interest areas with the teaching resources.
Con't All fields of engineering share common language, and usually the standard in aeronautic engineer is higher than others, so it gives you strength to shift to other industries in the future. My father found his real interest is electronic engineering, but at that time mechanics took too much weight in aeronautics, finally he quit from the research institute, and endeavored to Mechatronics based on the know-how of both aeronautics and electronics gained from uni and workplace.
Con't So, both the knowledge from the course and his interest helps. Some of his classmates also met such situations, one was worked as a Materials engineer for Boeing defense but now a team manager of DuPont. Another was designing cockpits but now ergonomics consultant for coach company. Nowadays the disciplines are more flexible to shift than decades ago, but talk with engineers work in the field for a long time and a field study would offer much info for us to move to other majors.
Con't or a modest alternative is keep the existing study plan, try it best, and learn by you own on the interested field with the support of resources in colleges. Maintain the interest of both, that definitely will help you in your future. Pay more attention on knowledge that can be generally applied on other fields. All the best for your study, enjoy it.
@airr916Mechanical and civil engineers are always highly needed by these firms as the future demands are expected to grow sustainably. If you've got great interest on these field, you'll do it very well in the degrees or diplomas, and joining in these big projects after graduation to make you much more experienced. Project is always good place for growth.
Con't These fields are usually specialized, thus find out potential employer's needs before study may give us an idea on which major to choose. Anyway, having an interest in engineering could predict the success to be an engineer(get a degree or diploma/accreditation), and once be an engineer, great fun and opportunities are there waiting for you. Though I'm not working as an engineer, but the influence let me fascinated on that.
@airr916 The loco & rolling stock companies demand mechanical engineers on all fields. Channel of recruitment may differ from other industries. The main two rolling stock firms are CNR and CSR in China, and it has close cooperation with GE, EMD on diesels, and setting up join ventures with Bombardier, Alstom and Seimens on high speed trains. So directly apply from the two,or work as an expatriate employee of Int'l train companies are good way to involve with. It's a brilliant industry for growth
@airr916 I'm keen on railways and engineering too, so since the day they announced this project in 2004, I'm frequently in search of the progress of construction and follow-up to collect the news photos from industrial media, websites of the construction groups, and shared photos of train buffs.
con't Luckily, once i was invited by a friend worked in an construction supervision firm, and paid a visit to a construction site of another intercity express rail, that's pretty impressive, and I've got an basic idea on the full process of the project thanks to the explanation by my friend and his boss.
