  • ultra-violet wrote an interesting (surprisingly bitter) book about the Warhol milieu ("Famous For 15 Minutes"); in it, she takes several surprising jabs @ Andy, as well as devoting an entire, very detailed, chapter about Edie. her tone is entirely different (more respectful) here. lou reed was really pissed about the book @ the time of it's publication, lol

  • @desertshore Yeah, but Lou Reed is upset about almost everything. And I think Andy Warhol gave these people a place to be, and together they created the 1960s. This could ONLY have happened in Manhattan, nowhere else. (OK, all right, a loot f cool stuff happened in San Francisco too.)

The 1960s was the first time very original people could go around and jus be themselves. In earlier times they would probably have been more repressed, locked up in institutions, drugged up or lobotomized.

  • @MowgliX as i recall, lou's diss to ultra was that she: "Never worked." O.o

  • @desertshore Maybe some of them never worked, but they were not lobotomized.

  • @MowgliX wellll, to me there is a certain amount of "work" involved in getting your name into the media & creating a "happening" vibe around u, etc. - @ the minimum these ppl were all genius self-promoters.

on a side note, i can't believe ivy nicholson took a dump behind The Couch as a "Ciao!" to the Factory, lmfao!!!

  • @desertshore I love Mary Voronow, so funny and bright!
