  • Regarding your note. The key might be, it might be possible to place a camera inside a person's private room --that might be their right -freedom of speech and of expression (only a lawyer might know that), OR placing a camera in there while there is suspicion of wrong-doing. Every day it seems like private detectives use them to catch nursing home criminals every day. I wonder if there is a lawyer reading here that might answer these questions for everyone to see?

  • the man lie on the bed without turning for 76 hrs..the world must allow euthanasia. Those who object may you end up bed ridden and without turning for 76 hrs

  • The Adminstrator & Don office are the ones 2 blame for this,, lack of pay & understaff... but there no excuse for Patient abuse you have 2 love what you do, I have been so overwelm but you have 2 just take it with strive and do what you can, so the patient want have 2 suffer report it 2 State when your understaff, or patient neglect happens you will reap what you sow when you do this 2 ppl and I pray they catch all bad Nurses and Nurses Aid,,, I Pray on that ..

  • to anybody who laughs at this should be ashamed..... my uncle went through this :( he was abused so bad he died (no joke i put it on his grave this happen) they didnt feed him, take care of him, or change his diapers when he needed it..... so he caught pneumonia, had 2 strokes, then died a week after my birthday :( so to all of you people how think this is funny should be put through a situation like this to see if its really funny

  • In Ontario (I don't know about the rest of the world) they will give a PSW certificate to ANYONE nowadays. You just got to a class at the Adult Educaiton building for 6mos, boom, you're a PSW...And you oughta see the types of people they put into these courses: People who are forced into the class by Social Assistance, Drunken drop-outs who need a job quick....If they would be more selective, I bet care would increase tenfold.

  • Nursing homes always get the bad rap and yes...some owners are pieces of shit, but when you have 18 bedridden patients and you are on the floor by yourself to do all that work because there is not enough staff..something has to give and it's usually one of the patients. Some of them can be very abusive too. A woman I know had her glasses broken and a black eye by a nice 'gentle' patient she was trying to feed.

  • thats not good i feel sorry for them some nurses or that are shit.

  • This pisses me off so bad. They don't hire enough people fulltime and neglect is everywhere. So sad.

  • Notice its niggers doing it.

  • i apologize i forgot what sentence did ms chowderoy and the rest of the animals get a reward from the government and a better job please don't start the revolution without me.

  • look a F%$#^&* hibibe see why they can not be allowed in here. i rest my case in paki or wherever stoned for that crime.

  • Oh my god how cruel!! Stupid dumb bitches i would kick their asses. Its not shocking to me because when my dad was sick and in a nursing home those people were really loud and would laugh and talk too loud all the time. I remember going to visit him and he started crying because he hated it there, he said they didn't pay attention and when one of them walked in he gave her a mean look good thing he got transfered. Also i remember they said the couldn't wait to get their checks and go shopping.

  • This is awful i had a similar experience more money needs to be invested in the healthcare system. Ive started care work on my own now.

  • OMG thats bullshit Im a single mom and have 3 kids to care for , but never ever ABUSED an elderly person......I have been in the nursing field for 20 years..... A heath care provider need to be able to deal with anything.......If you dont have the time to give "THIS IS NOT YOUR FIELD"

  • @medmarge i had a similare experience innocent until proven guilty

  • How does one get cameras like that in nursing homes in our city.

  • @youonsictv

I heard from a lawyer that it is illegal to put hidden cameras in nursing homes (at least in Florida, not sure about other states).

The lawyer said that the nursing home could press charges, claiming that it is a violation of privacy laws.

Now, most people know that is a cop-out, but the nursing homes use the law to their advantage, to keep people from using cameras, and to also avoid having the (illegally obtained) video evidence being used against them in court.

  • my friend works at a care home where the manager is never there but goes off to baby sit her grandson

  • In Denmark we have the world's highest tax making the elderly do not have to pay to receive help and care and has a law sure that they will receive properly care and we have no problem with the employee proposes the elderly. In living in the U.S. Would you like to pay more taxes and a return having a healthcare network which has access from the beginning of life to death in itself will pay for it and focus on HUMAN and not private company making money as can treat the elderly as they please ?

  • hi i have started on education as a social and health service in Denmark, which is known to be one of the best countries to have care for the elderly. We in Denmark says the law not to accept gifts or money from the elderly, it happens you will be punished to protect the elderly.

  • I had to quit my last nursing home job because they intentionally kept us short staffed to save money. On my last night there were only 2 aides to care for 60 patients. by the end of the shift, my blood pressure was double what it should have been and the woman who worked with me sufferd a heart attack while driving home.

  • Dp are you an LPN?

  • and it was some fat cunt spic go figure.

  • We need to send all those Nigerian Niggers that abuse elderly residents to the electric chair; I tell you all those Nigerian niggers should be shipped back to Africa to the jungles where they belong.

  • how is using a hoyer lift abuse? a 2 person assist with a heavy contractured person who is dead weight is impossible without falling on the bed with them.

  • because the person was being transferred with only 1 aide, the law is 2 aids are required for hoyer transfers

  • I will kill myself rather than go into one of those torture chambers. My grandmother was beaten to death in one.

  • Having worked in a number of nursing homes I could only agree with you. Care work in the UK is basically the one job anyone can do subject to POVA and CRB clearances, and many people are more-or-less forced into care work through sheer economic expediency. For this reason it attracts people who sometimes do not have the necessary qualities such as altruism or sound morals. Some care assistants... I wonder what it is that flows in their veins.

  • They have no blood, only venom, unfortunately the venom does not kill them it only assists them to hurt others who are least able to protect themselves.

  • As I say, God is watching.

  • you have to want to be a nurse - not do it for a visa

we have the same type of people nursing all over the UK

you can spot the nurses a mile off who are there simply as a way to get into the UK

  • @grai I could not agree more, thankyou for that very true comment. I have been an staff nurse since the 1970's. I am so thankful that I am about to retire and leave all this behind...you try to complain...bosses take no notice. I say to anyone who cares about their elderly relatives to not leave them alone too long with "professional carers," the very words are an anachronism.

  • I agree that nurses are overstress as are nurse aides that is no excuse for abuse. First is is the owners and administrators responsibility to ensure there is enough staff to competently and safely care for the residents. I believe when a staff member abuses a nursing home resident that there should be an criminal investigation regarding the owner/administrators failure to ensure that care is provided- yes the staff committing the abuse should be charged.

  • These are not nurses. Regardless of what licensure they hold they do not represent true nursing. Not to worry folks a new wave of nurses are hitting the work force and these derelicts will be weeded out. Trust me if I witness any abuse I will immediately report it and push for removal. Compassion and Therapeutic Care should be the hallmark of nursing not abuse and neglect.

  • No excuse for hitting, neglect or any other form of verbal or physical abuse but the CNA getting the patient into bed by herself using the lift is likely doing so because there is not enough staff. The patient has likely been in that chair all day. The other transfers of pts. by 2-3 people are pts. who should have been hoyer lifted but likely couldn't be because there were not enough lifts or canvases. They should look into the greed of the nursing home owners who under-staff & under-eqp.

  • what the fuck are up with these nurses

    abusing helpless ppl

    GO TO HELL FUCKERS

  • God is watching our every move.

  • Cyclon, how the hell could you been doing RN for 15 years when your god damn profile says youre 32? You telling me and all here you were 16 when you first landed an RN job? Fucking liar!

  • I have been a nurse for 15 years and let me tell you there is another side of this story. For instance, when you are so short staffed do you really think it is abuse to use a one person transfer?? As oppossed to the alternative, leave the patient sitting in the chair too long?

And yes whipping a patient with a towel is WRONG, but I have had patients that have called nurses "nigger nose bitch" and threatened to kill thEM. When you are verbally assulted like this for months some nurses snap,

  • I am also an R.N. and I find this video repulsive. I have worked under some of the worst circumstances in the field (I am a flight trauma RN for a life transport system) and there have been times when I have transported critically ill pts. without the help of another RN and they have coded under my care, called me names, one even pinched me! But, I have never deviated from the standard of good and responsible care and there is no excuse for the hitting, no excuse for 76 hrs. of no help. Unreal!

  • oh give me a break will you? So what if somebody called you a name - what are you a child? You have a half senile patient in possibly the worst pain of their life who calls you a name and you think that justifies abusing them? If you don't have better control of your emotions maybe you should get a different job?

  • I know what you mean. Nurses are under so much stress it is unreal, ignored, and unmanaged. No superior listens to her nurses when they are at their limit, they wait till they snap before they care. These people that sit behind a desk and and call themself a healthcare proffesional are not in the front line being called a bitch, while your getting their vitals, and they are the ones who say we have no reason to complain. God bless Nurses, aides, and the patients

  • olloololol

  • I was a CNA for 10 years. CNA 's are over worked and underpaid. No I dont agree with abuse.

  • It doesn't just happen at nursing homes. My mother was horribly abused and murdered by the monsterous staff at Northshore University Hospital in Manhassett, New York. The abused was so bad in their Surgical Intensive Care Unit I had to actually call the police and have them investigate the situation. Of course everyone in the SICU lied their dirty asses off, and a week or so later they finally killed her for it.

I will ALWAYS hate hospital people from now on. I will always hate them...

  • But what's amazing to me is how insular the people who work in hospitals are...

After my mother was killed I sat outside the surgeon's house on several occasions. I was actually going ot kill him for what he did. For not intervening. For not involving himself in my mothers care. For not responding to my many phone calls. I could have killed him anytime I wanted to.

Don't these assholes realize that they can be FOUND??? They've gotta leave that hospital sometime don't they?

  • Exactly, I agree with you 100%

  • This occurs in MANY nursing homes, they just got caught because someone decided to take an interest in complaints that are normally blown off in other nursing homes.

  • Being understaffed is NO reason or excuse for abuse, neglect or malpractice. Thus, they have NO excuse, no explanation, no reason. See what's on the camera , and charge them with what's on camera.

  • Please place hidden cameras inside of the New Vanderbilt Rehabilitation and Care center, in Staten Island, NY. Can you do that?

  • 0:55 is that a male or female

  • Honestly being overworked does have alot to do with elder abuse and neglect. Please try working 20 hours in a row and see how you feel.

  • dont go into the job then if u cant do it. being overworked doesnt mean hitting a patient in the head with a shirt. why the hellll are u on there side

  • Not that anybody should abuse or neglect a resident or patient, but most of the time it is the top staff that is responisble for abuse or neglect. They didn't personally do it, but to expect a nurse or cna to work the long hours that they do and care for 20 incontinent patients (just assuming) each is wrong. One person can only do so much and I believe that most healthcare workers do their best.

  • Comment removed

  • Right. Most times in hospitals or nursing homes it is so difficult to find help (almost impossible) that they have to take it on themselves to make sure that they are properly taken care of. Most nurses and cna's know their limit on what they can do.

  • With the way the economy is, Many Nursing homes are canceling 3-4 CNA's per shift forcing the staff to work short (4-5 CNA's)

Our Nursing home as well as many others are lowering our raises. We used to get 3.0 and are now down to 2.5. Not to mention, We NEVER have enough supplies, Briefs etc..to do our jobs and when they do have supplies its the cheapest stuff that falls apart easily.

I think they should come down hard on Nursing homes that do this crap. Its NOT fair on the staff!

  • Exactly, I agree with you 100%!

  • I dont think she was one of the employees beating the residents. I believe it had to do with meds??

  • over charged my fucking ass what would thoes bitches do if they saw that video of there grandma or dad being treated like that fuck them they need real charges poor mother my ass how the fuck does she treat her children then when its time for school and they dont wanna eat or brush there teeth give me damn break unfit crazy mother fuckers fire em hang em beat em and bury there ass alive

  • Bottom line for me, the GREEDY nursing home owners need to pay their employees better money so that they can hire qualified non-trashy types. And they need to hire MORE employees to give provide better care. When I had the chance to care for ONE complete care patient, it made me feel like "this is the only correct way to properly care for a fellow human". GREEDY nursing home owners need to PAY UP!!!

  • Elder abusers need to be beaten.

  • I'm not going to say that this is right, but I do know from experience(I have been a Certified Nurses Asst. for 3 years) that working in a nursing home is a hard job. I worked at one nursing home where I had anywhere from 15-18 paitents to take care of by myself. I had 2 or 3 showers, vital signs, getting them all ready for dinner and then laying them all down after dinner. it's a very very hard and stressful job. not anyone can do it. it takes a strong person.

  • I am a CNA also and I totally agree with you. It is hard work. These greedy nursing home corporations need to pay there staff more and provide more staff.

  • Oh,that poor single overworked mother! I guess it's a good thing she is the only one in the world in that situation or we'd all be in a mess. If it was so bad and she really cared, she knew who to call and try to change things. What I'd like to know is were there any attempts to get more staff? Punishment to the max. Don't slap them on the wrist and tell them no-no, not just the nursing staff but the higer ups, they are responsible for being short staffed but are often unaccountable for things!

  • let the family have some uh private time with thse little bastards...and let us watch these familys take care of these little F##ks

  • Nobody cares for these people...not there family one bit or these people wouldn't be in nursing homes.

Why keep someone in a nursing home? If it was there decision..it would probably rather be death.

People who neglect residents in nursing homes are horrible people.

If I have ever found one of these people...They would be the ones who would be dead.

Horrible people like that don't deserve the lives they have...one day the world will learn to get rid of these kinds of people......pure evil.

  • Its very sad to see these clips but I think I agree with the majority of the people.

Looking at these video clips, I am sure most of the time good care was given.

Its typical to pick the bad apples from many of the good ones who are truly dedicated to there jobs. However, the one clip with the towel is unacceptable and I believe she should be removed.

  • Working as an aide in a nursing home is the hardest job I've ever had. What they don't show you is the demented residents hitting and abusing the staff. Just today I was hit by an alzheimer's patient while trying to help him use the toilet.

  • very true, I do Housekeeping/laundry in a nursing home and the even the ones who don't have alzhimers threaten to hit aides and such(and the aides do thier best to treat them all well)

  • OMG!! I cant even begin to count how many times I have been slapped, punched, kicked, hair pulled, bit, spit on, cussed at etc..These nursing homes are taking in any kind of patient just to fill the beds up. Many are dangerous and can kill you very easily. I never turn my back away from them while taking care of them. Its too dangerous!

  • It is not fair to condemm the staff when staffing and skill mix levels are not in their control. A private business it is about making a profit and where do you think that is going to come from but in compromised patient care. I feel sorry for the patients but also for the staff who are expected to perform at a level that is impossible to achieve. Also the scene of the person using the lifter by themselves, I have done that! it is becasue there is no one around to help, and why they buy lifters!

  • This is all medicare/medicaid excuses to not pay-too many patients, too few staff-what the fuck do you expect? Under their guidelines you pretty much need one on one care. Children need to take their parent OUT of nursing homes and care for themselves SINCE THEY THINK THEY CAN DO A BETTER JOB! Or hire their own private duty nurse.

  • I hope you realize this is medicare's excuse for not paying money under alleged "quality care" so more money can be diverted to the Iraq war. It is IMPOSSIBLE to meet those standards when you have too many patients. People need to hire private nurses-one on one care-if they can't then SHUT THE FUCK UP. Or people need to get their parent OUT of the nursing home and take care of themselves since they think they can do better.

  • Those are jobs of last resort that people only take when they can get no other work. Many who are forced by circumstances to do them are angry, bitter and resent being there. They need to raise the salary and greatly increase staffing.

In one way, of course, these cameras are good. But, now it will be harder than ever to hire anyone to work in those places.

  • If the workers were well paid, had a reasonable work load, reasonable hours and more respect for doing one of societies nastiest and hardest jobs, they might have a lot less reason to be frustrated, angry and become abusive.

Health care workers who are happy in their job is the best protection for the people in their care.

  • Sounds to me like you need to find a new line of work. Health care is not for you.

  • These are NOT jobs of last resort! I happen to LOVE my elderly residents very much!

  • damn stupid lazy workers should be ban from working @ nursing homes 'cause they think they can collect their salary easier than working @ Mc donalds. they are abusive, verbal, disrespectful to eldery, they take advantage of disable.

  • ho ho ho!!!

  • You know, nursing homes are short staffed. I really feel sorry for the workers-a person can only do so much and those patients are dead weight, oftentimes contractured. Even combative due to Alzheimers. What families need to do is STOP USING NURSING HOMES and take care of their own and quit bitching about the poor care when they themselves DUMPED their loved ones at such facilities. If families can do better-they need to do all the care and no longer use nursing homes. Period!!!

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • yeah. IF they can do better. In the best of circumstance you have 2 parents, 1 to work and 1 to look after kids or grandparents. Lets say your a single mom, how are you going to work 2 jobs and care for some who needs constant attention on the hour every hour if your work 60+ hour weeks (Alzheimer patients usually try to escape, and can even be dangerous/traumatic to have around small kids) Sometimes the only alternative is to send them to homes and see them whenever possible.

  • Nursing aids make minimum wage. They have far too many patients to care for. These patients bite, kick, scream, are dead weight, shit and piss all over the place, oftentimes too heavy to turn (literally), yet everybody expects top notch care with very little staff. I always say--If YOU want top quality care-YOU pay for a private nurse or take care of your parent YOURSELF-like I said, if children think they can do better-then take gramps or mom/dad out and care for him/her yourself.

  • I don't think top notch care is the concern, any care at all really. Like giving the patients their damn medication so they don't die in their fucking sleep. Also, you act like this behavior is the excusable norm. MOST care facilities actually do their job just fine, not outstanding, but do acceptable at their care. so whats the excuse here? You can't say that a city cop gets a pass for shooting a innocent bystander just because of stress? Its a life, you don't avoid that kind of responsibility.

  • Some nursing homes are better staffed than others. Instead of prosecuting the workers, they REALLY need to focus on the administration and the care giver-patient ratio. Keep in mind many of these patients are 300+ pounds and completely resistant to being turned. They are basically dead weight. ANd shit right in their beds because they are too lazy to roll over.

  • Too lazy to roll over??? I would imagine that at 300lbs it would be very hard to roll over!

  • 100% right about being under staffed. When I was 17,my best friend worked in a nursing home 3rd shift. There were about 30-40 pts.there and had to ring hand bells if they needed anything, not electronic buzzers. Some were unable to ring the bells so we had to walk the floor the whole night, changing linens because they had an accident, emptying colostomy bags before they exploded because the shift before failed to do it,putting double amputees on and off the potty chair. See next post please!

  • She was the ONLY one on staff at night except for one lady who was hired by a family to sit with their mother. I was not on payroll,I did it because it needed to be done.Niether of us had finished high school yet but want to know the real shocker? We had the keys to the meds. and had to give them out.We even had the security code and were given permission to let our friends come in to see us!We worked there for about 2 weeks and quit. Not because it was too hard but because of the risk.
