LOL!!! The breed standard is cropped ears and docked tail! Have the ears long can cause issues with ear bugs and infections. It does not hurt them! Its like haveing surgery. they give them med for a few days to take away any discomfort, my dobes are up and running the day i bring them home. I have a great VET though.

They do NOT look awful with out cropped ears..... just diffrent. I have a red dobie he does have cropped ears. He has a very sweet personality ~ 5 1/2 mo. old and quite a handfull. Dobies are awesome looking dogs... cropped or uncropped and only a A-hole would tell any dog owner their dog looks "awful" Yours is beautiful and has a lovely voice.
