I always enjoyed N64 more fun for multiplayer golden eye 007 and perfect dark ooh yeah, and the classic n64 wwf wrestling games, The Psx was awesome for resident evil three still one of the most scary as fuck games of all time, i think it should be remade for the ps3 and 360.
As far as N64 vs. GameCube goes, that's a tough one, N64 had better games, GameCube defenetly had a better controller and I think the system was designed better, but I also think N64 had a better color selection (Pickachu edition, Funtastix series.) As far as N64 vs. PSX is concerned, PSX's CDs were cheaper than N64's cartridges and they held more data. Controlller on the PSX was better than N64, although not as good as GCN, but N64 had better graphics and better games.

Yes but graphics are not everything, while the N64 was graphically superior to the PSX it never sounded as good to my ears due to it being cartridge based.
Plus no FMV capability, this why the PSX got final fantasy VII and it had a better version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy (gameplay was actually faster on the PSX despite its loading times, and actually the PSX loading times were not too bad compared to that of earlier CD based consoles)
@DancingMadRB3 at least in my country, both, a HUGE library of games 5 times larger than the N64 one and the massive amounts of piracy brought popularity to the PS, In fact most people just owned a couple of original games. People used to say that N&$ games were kiddy and expensive. which they were.

I was really suprised that Nintendo only lost money on the vb. The N64 wrong controller & media. Even though ps had way more games and totally outsold the Big N all that stuff is so outdated even the 128 bit. It would be fun to play redrawn games of the past for today's tv. The snes was the best that nintendo ever did.
i think cartridges are way better. not only are they more durable, they are easier to take care of. everytime i go to a swap meet or flea market, the n64 games care in good shape, and if they are dirty, you just clean them. ps1 games have scratches, are always in bad shape, the cases are shitty and break to easily.
The N64 is my all-time favorite system from my childhood, as well as Nintendo system, as it made me the gamer that I am today. I still rock the heck out of it as much as I did back in the day. It will always be timeless, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda OoT and MM, 007 GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros., Conker's Bad Fur Day, Starfox 64, Mario Party 1,2, and 3, Paper Mario, and the list goes on. Not saying PlayStation didn't have a lot going for it, it did. Great games as well.
Nintendo 64 is, and always will be the single greatest game console imo.. it was my first game console and i still buy games for it and play it to this day.. ever since i bought it, ive also bought newer game consoles since, like the gamecube and xbox etc. but i ALWAYS come back to my n64. paper mario is my all time favorite game. and im gonna always play it.. im on my 24th playthru on it.. im sorry but i have nothing but nostalgic memories of this wonderful masterpiece.

I thought the Gamecube was very under-rated. It has a ton of good games that went under the radar. Gamecube is one of my favourite systems too. 2001, 2002 and 2003 were good years for it.
Nintendo 64 wasn't EXTREMLY awesome, but it was better than playstation. MUCH better. But now nintendo has fallen behind. Fortunately, the PS1 has faded from memory, and the N64 has taken place as a classic gaming console. Especially with OoT and super mario 64.

@kR0B45 I have a PS2, but not a PS1 or a PS3 (nor do I care whatsoever for the PS3, just a personal thought) and I have some good classic PS2 titles, but no. I have never heard of classic PS1 titles. The only PS1 game I've ever played was Crash Bandicoot which my friend lent to me so I could play it on my PS2. However, it was a long time ago, and don't remember very much about it.
@sharpie660 Gran Turismo was quite a revolution in the golden shiny days of playstation 1. along with final fantasy 7 ( i know its kinda cliché but it's hell of a game ... seriously ) if you can handle the bad graphics and the penis-shaped arms characters hahaha. the cinematics was quite revolutionary too.

All my PS games (Except METAL GEAR) are broken from when I was a kid. N64 on the other hand are not. Therefore I still play my N64, and It'll always be better in my mind.
sega was great, sony's pretty cool, but nintendo was, and still is the best gaming company, i have a ps3, after i beat a game, i toss it to the side and never play it again, but wii games, i beat over and over again and never get bored

If your cartridges are no longer working, you aren't caring for your cartridges. I have Atari 2600 cartridges from 30 YEARS ago that still work. You keep them out of the dust, And even if they do get dusty, a Q-tip and some alcohol fixes that. One deep scratch, and optical media is useless. It takes some serious beating to stop a cartridge from working correctly.
Nintendo 64 is just underappreciated because of all the brain-dead marketing done by mass media. It was the platform that iniciated a slew of great games, Super Smash Bros., Sin and Punishment, the 3D Zelda format with Z-targeting, etc, it set standards that all modern games follow. It has tons of great games. Of course they're dated by today's standards, but back then, they were unparalleled.
Same can be said about SEGA Saturn, one of the first online-capable consoles (with Netlink Adapter).
@FuckDragonQuest That is true, Saturn had little 3rd party support, PlayStation had most of it, and was pulled off shelves too soon in USA (in Japan it went until 2000), and the whole 3D craze overshadowed some of the most awesome 2D games ever made, for which Saturn was a powerhouse, it was primarily designed as a 2D system to surpass the NeoGeo, SNES and 3DO, which it did.
Still, the main reason to buy a SEGA or a Nintendo is to play the 1st party games, and those are 100% pure awesome.
I love all Nintendo's systems, specially Nintendo64, it brings me a lot of good memories, and i still have it, and guess what?, I still play with it sometimes, even now that I have 26 years old.

The Playstation had its own host of million-sellers: Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Wipeout, Tekken, and so forth. Squaresoft was certainly a big deal, but that wasn't the only reason the system dominated the fifth generation.

well.........when i was a kid ....... i never seen or heard about n64 where i live ... i only read about it in a games magazine but i was like "meh" cuz i was reading R.E 2 & 007 , i said to myself i have these two on play station .... on later years when emulating spread very widely ..... i wanted to try n64 games...the fist one i tried was "conker bad fur day" and this what i said: HOLY **** THIS GAME IS AWESOME AND IT HAS THE BEST GRAPHICS I'VE EVER SEEN IN 64 AT ITS TIME
N64 was a sweet machine, some great games, the polygons were genuine, not pixelated messes. I mean, it was solid colors, not garbled ranbows mixed in a prayer to look like the intended color.
cartridges were safer though to prevent piracy(try N64 roms, it loses more than half the visual, virtually unplayable as ROMs alone, you needed the cartridge or download on Virtual console).

Wii is selling because Nintendo went back to the basics. Family involvement sells. RE4, Pikmin, Wave Race(nice game), Enternal Darkness and Metroid Prime games that IMO were gamecube essentials. Mario Sunshine, TLOZ:TP and Smash Bros were nothing great. Lame versions of N64 games such as Ocarina Of Time, super Mario 64 and super Smash Bros.

the N64 lacked good RPGs and to this day i know of no Real RPGs on the Ganmecube or the N64 like the ones on PS1,but i am very happy to hear that Dragon Quest 10 will be on the Wii,i bought a Wii for my wife and Wii do enjoy the system buy nintendo still lacks good RPGs for even the Wii and i look forward to DQ10
Oh, DQ10 is news to me. Anyway, I'll always like Nintendo, but they have been lacking certain genres for their main consoles ever since the 64. That said, the N64 did have Paper Mario and the 'cube had a few nice titles like Skies of Arcadia Legends and Tales of Symphonia.
I personally enjoyed Rune Factory for the Wii, but it's not a traditional RPG admittedly.
i had a N64 because i loved the games nintendo had made for there system,but the lack of RPGs made me buy a PS1,squaresoft and enix started bringing the RPGs i love to the PS1 and i was not disapointed at all about the move to PS1 with games like Dragon Warrior 7 and Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and others like Legend of Dragoon and Beyond the Beyond,i dont regret buyn a PS1 at all because every RPG on PS1 i still have now,to this day i have stayd with sony because RPGs for me have forever changed ...

It will always be timeless, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda OoT and MM, 007 GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros., Conker's Bad Fur Day, Starfox 64, Mario Party 1,2, and 3, Paper Mario, and the list goes on. Not saying PlayStation didn't have a lot going for it, it did. Great games as well.

Nintendo 64 is, and always will be the single greatest game console imo.. it was my first game console and i still buy games for it and play it to this day.. ever since i bought it, ive also bought newer game consoles since, like the gamecube and xbox etc. but i ALWAYS come back to my n64. paper mario is my all time favorite game. and im gonna always play it.. im on my 24th playthru on it.. im sorry but i have nothing but nostalgic memories of this wonderful masterpiece.

Killer Instinct Gold could have been arcade quality if they had gone with

I thought the Gamecube was very under-rated. It has a ton of good games that went under the radar. Gamecube is one of my favourite systems too. 2001, 2002 and 2003 were good years for it.

Nintendo 64 wasn't EXTREMLY awesome, but it was better than playstation. MUCH better. But now nintendo has fallen behind. Fortunately, the PS1 has faded from memory, and the N64 has taken place as a classic gaming console. Especially with OoT and super mario 64.

The only PS1 game I've ever played was Crash Bandicoot which my friend lent to me so I could play it on my PS2. However, it was a long time ago, and don't remember very much about it.

If your cartridges are no longer working, you aren't caring for your cartridges. I have Atari 2600 cartridges from 30 YEARS ago that still work. You keep them out of the dust, And even if they do get dusty, a Q-tip and some alcohol fixes that. One deep scratch, and optical media is useless. It takes some serious beating to stop a cartridge from working correctly.

Nintendo 64 is just underappreciated because of all the brain-dead marketing done by mass media. It was the platform that iniciated a slew of great games, Super Smash Bros., Sin and Punishment, the 3D Zelda format with Z-targeting, etc, it set standards that all modern games follow. It has tons of great games. Of course they're dated by today's standards, but back then, they were unparalleled.
Same can be said about SEGA Saturn, one of the first online-capable consoles (with Netlink Adapter).

@FuckDragonQuest That is true, Saturn had little 3rd party support, PlayStation had most of it, and was pulled off shelves too soon in USA (in Japan it went until 2000), and the whole 3D craze overshadowed some of the most awesome 2D games ever made, for which Saturn was a powerhouse, it was primarily designed as a 2D system to surpass the NeoGeo, SNES and 3DO, which it did.
Still, the main reason to buy a SEGA or a Nintendo is to play the 1st party games, and those are 100% pure awesome.

The Playstation had its own host of million-sellers: Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Wipeout, Tekken, and so forth. N64 was a sweet machine, some great games, the polygons were genuine, not pixelated messes. I mean, it was solid colors, not garbled ranbows mixed in a prayer to look like the intended color.
cartridges were safer though to prevent piracy(try N64 roms, it loses more than half the visual, virtually unplayable as ROMs alone, you needed the cartridge or download on Virtual console).
Nintendo doesnt take a shot unless it will be safe, Nintendo is safe sex, Sony is like catching AIDS and Herpes.

Wii is selling because Nintendo went back to the basics. Family involvement sells. RE4, Pikmin, Wave Race(nice game), Enternal Darkness and Metroid Prime games that IMO were gamecube essentials. Mario Sunshine, TLOZ:TP and Smash Bros were nothing great. Lame versions of N64 games such as Ocarina Of Time, super Mario 64 and super Smash Bros.

@SOUTHWESTENZ did you read the whole part or only what you wanted to hear or in this case read. Lame versions of N64 games such as Ocarina Of Time, super Mario 64 and super Smash Bros. Those Games on the N64 were great the GCN versions were nothing new and or a reason to buy the GCN compared to N64 games.

the reason why they used cartriges is because if the 64 used cd you would have to wait forever to load

i like cartridges better because they are better and the disks scratch up why change to disks they barely last a year my goldeneye (sold now) worked since i was 3 until i was 7

i must say i liked the n64 better because of the cartridge they last longer(if u take care of them) and i had both of them and i liked the n64 better

the N64 lacked good RPGs and to this day i know of no Real RPGs on the Ganmecube or the N64 like the ones on PS1,but i am very happy to hear that Dragon Quest 10 will be on the Wii,i bought a Wii for my wife and Wii do enjoy the system buy nintendo still lacks good RPGs for even the Wii and i look forward to DQ10

Oh, DQ10 is news to me. Anyway, I'll always like Nintendo, but they have been lacking certain genres for their main consoles ever since the 64. That said, the N64 did have Paper Mario and the 'cube had a few nice titles like Skies of Arcadia Legends and Tales of Symphonia.
I personally enjoyed Rune Factory for the Wii, but it's not a traditional RPG admittedly.

i had a N64 because i loved the games nintendo had made for there system,but the lack of RPGs made me buy a PS1,squaresoft and enix started bringing the RPGs i love to the PS1 and i was not disapointed at all about the move to PS1 with games like Dragon Warrior 7 and Final Fantasy 7,8,9 and others like Legend of Dragoon and Beyond the Beyond,i dont regret buyn a PS1 at all because every RPG on PS1 i still have now,to this day i have stayd with sony because RPGs for me have forever changed ...

there were few good game on the N64 and Gamrcube the gamecube was worse,only when the Wii came out that nintendo had any success,you might not admit it but its true

you forgot the Analog stick.
Goldeneye 007 was the reason i sold my PS and bought a N64. I never regretted that decision.
The GC on the other hand was a TOTAL FLOP, therefore i switched back to Sony.
Now I don't have to choose, because I have enough money to buy all the consoles :)
