I would give up anything I own just to be able to take a flight in one of these. Such a beautiful machine... It is only a shame that she didn't grace the skies longer. DONT KNOW WHATCHA GOT, TILL ITS GONE
All Constellation variants had four 18-Cyl Wright R-3350's. There was never a Pratt & Whitney powered variant of the Constellation.
Further, the only four row radial engine created was the Pratt & Whitney R-4360 - a 28 cylinder monster nicknamed the 'corncob'. This was NEVER used to power a constellation in production.
you are correct in one way, the HARS Constellation IS an ex-US military - she was originally built as a C-121C for the United States Air Force, s/n 54-0157
I love these old aircraft and i'm asking the same question as synthuser but to me its a little bit of flaps and reverse thrusters in motion but i might be wrong...
That whining sound would IMHO most probably be the wheel brakes. The propellors have reverse pitch, so the engines would run full throttle rather than idle.

I understand the HARS Constellation is ex-US military and is Wright powered.
The original QANTAS Constellations were Pratt and Whitney powered and it was these engines, a four row radial which had reliability problems.
This was apparently related to cooling the rearmost of the four cylinder rows.
The whine referred to might be noisy brakes but might also be supercharger sound.

I look at those tip tanks and that nose shape & I think "Starliner." Could these be Alterations on a "Super G"? As for the flames from the PRT
exhausts, well don't look at 'em. Those engines
always were burners from the B-29 days on, not
least because they were always pushed hard. Pilots called the Constellations 'the biggest and best trimotors ever made.'Early 3350s were
a big disappointment on the power score (B-19,
Consolidated 31, even the 1st B-29.)

The whining sound at 1:57? Is that flap retraction or just engines at idle, or something else? Unique, anyway.
