In the Avatar humanity conquered the Pandorum because they wanted more money and they send Jake to contact whit the na'vis(after he falled into a love but this doesn't matter)

But in the Terra humanity has to conquer to survive (and a pilot crashed and maked a friendship whit an alien)

The main difference between Avatar and Terra is: In the Avatar everything for money -and this is big difference. This makes Battle for Terra more theatrical than Avatar

It may sound like a crappy movie but give it a chance, I just saw it & it's one of the best movies I've seen. It's scifi, of course it's more than likely to be about the end of the world. If for nothing else see it for the action, It's a kids movie with blood, death, and deph. If nothing else it makes you think. sorry went a little longer than intended...

I agree it has one of the best visuals I've seen, a totally alien world. The story is sweet but lacking some depth. You get a feeling they were rushing it. But overall its a good story.

Give it a chance but you'll need to watch it on a good lcd.

I watch it on Samsung T220 and it was awesome. I'm getting the full HD format to watch it again :)

Though this is just a trailer -- which by necessity compresses an hour+ story into a minute+ pitch -- I have a real sense this is a sort of "Modern, 21st Century Moralistic Folktail", for lack of a better term; something like "The Three Little Pigs". I bet if we, as good human beings, make it to an interstellar future, parents will tell their children a story something like this one day.

The avatar treatment was leaked online well over 10 years ago. I know because I read it back then, thinking it was an abandoned project that would never get made. It was taken off about 3 years ago when the movie was greenlit. It was certainly fair game for anyone who wanted to plagiarise it.

also, this cartoon doesn't seem to be exactly like avatar (the 'avatar' surrogate body concept for a start, as well as the fact that the Avatar aliens only use organic tech, and the humans are actually colonising planets, not taking them over because the earth is destroyed), but there are some huge similarities.

re: 3d, all new animated movies are now 3d so I don't think it has anything to do with avatar being 3d, and more that it has to be 3d just to compete.

But Avatar is going to be so great. This movie looks pretty good too but you can tell its indie.

OKAY is it just me, or does it seem like more and more of these Hollywood kids movies are propaganda trying to teach children how horrible humans are. Happy Feet wasn't quite blatant, but now this... why can't we have movies where MANKIND ISNT EVIL AND TRYING TO DESTORY A PIECE LOVING SPECIES! I don't have a problem with them making movies like that, but not kids movies. they are too impressionable. Though why they started the invasion before they had already settled colonies elsewhere on the planet is beyond me. Build yourself a base of operations to war from before you start smacking down the locals. Especially when the locals are so wussy.

The film had been doing rounds at film festivals for the past year. I heard about two year prior.

If any one ripping off anything off its Cameron's that nicking the ideas.

Even then they are both ripping off ideas first presented in the Enemy Mind written and publish in the 1980s.

Then all those ideas are really ripping off all the stories that involve two solders from different sides in a war, forming a friendship and relies the other side are not so bad and wanting to end the war.

Because you haven't posted anything to back up your claims. Oh sure, the humans can just do orbital bombardment with asteroids and percision strike the terrens to hell, but you know what, unlike starship troopers, there is a moral to this video (not yet revealed, mind you) so its excuse is valid.

Starship Troopers is mean to be a fun action flick, not a B rate movie, but still, the Terran Federation could have won the whole war with a fleet of helicopters. But then again, where is the fun?

@bennude10: About 3/4 through one of the Humans will feel remorse for what is happening to the Terrans and, likewise, a Terran will feel empathy for the situation Humans are in. They will unite to show that they can live in harmony with one another, the war will end, and everyone will live happily ever after. There may or may not be some kind of freaky Terran love ritual that can bring back the dead.

If anything, showing kids war with a happy ending is worse than the truth.

This is quite disturbing for a childrens film.

A film about war and suffering for childrens eyes. Do they really need to see that trash the media doesn't already cover, but all without a happy ending? This is what man does; dream up wars for young men to die in. This film has an obvious message and you know exactly what will happen in the end. I really wish in the film the human race would loose and be finally punished for what we bring to the universe. We cause more destruction than creation.
